Funny enough the Vampire at 8.0 has it. She’s slow but one of the best energy fighters at its BR bracket, can easily bleed a Mig-15 of energy in multiple turns. One circle? Two circle? three circle? Doesn’t matter, you still got speed lol
The Vampire can take two 500lb bombs and 8x RP3 rockets. The only downside with the Vampire is that if no one wants to dogfight you, there’s nothing you can do. I have no idea why its still at 8.0. The Sea Hawk at 8.0 likewise can also take IIRC two 1000lb bombs and 16 RP3s. But unfortunately the Meteors don’t get mixed loadouts until the Mark 8.
That would be an issue for 7.7 lineup, but maybe once I move to 8.0 after the sales.
Ye, would be an issue lol. But personally for a CAS plane at 8.0/8.3 I would suggest one of the Canberras.
There’s the first one which can mount two 4000lb bombs, and then the second one which can only mount five 1000lb bombs but with the tradeoff of having four 20mm Hispanos in a gunpod on the belly with 2000 rounds of ammo. The Gunberra as I call it is hella fun to fly, can dunk on enemies in dogfights, do strafing runs and can still aggressively bomb people.
Nobody expects to be going into a dogfight with a bomber lol
Like funny enough my favourite BRs for Britain air are 7.3, 8.3 and 8.7; And that’s because of the Sea Meteor, the Gunberra and now the Hunter F1.
Didnt have that good of a time with Il-28, so I cant see myself playing Canberras anytime soon. Still, will think about it once I move to Chieftains.
Hence the accompanying video I posted lol
You can see how I use it to dogfight even 9.3 jets.
The fighter jock’s face when the bathtub starts to rate his underbr’d sabre and gaining position:

I know, its just my general aversion to the playstyle of the whole gun only BRs which I gained when i researched my first air TT and which can be only overcome by actually going out and playing the damn things and getting good.
Bro talk to me once you dogfight a F-14 in Lancaster /s
I ain’t gonna lie, I had so much fun getting the footage for that short lol
That was also during the grind for the F-106, of which I used my Gunberra to grind 5 stages.
I get you. I prefer the cold war era because while missiles are there (Buffed SRAAM my beloved) there’s still a lot of gunfighting happening, and thanks to the F-106 I gained an appreciation for Mach Jesus gun fights lol
But I guess its about how you feel about it too.
I know its hard to tell due to my always objectively correct statements and massively inflated ego, but I too was once new to the game.
I personally prefer the Phantoms and missile jousts, but thought that I eventually need to learn how to play gun only. Sadly theres no help in fixing that worst aim known to man of mine.
Honestly you don’t even need good aim in this game, if you get them slow enough it’s point, click, kill.
me: thinking im entering the fight with all the advantages
the humble Yak teleporting behind me while retaining all of its speed:

We could run a squad, two good players with full nord loadouts can genuinely lock down a match before the furball ever starts and win 3 min in, it’s amazing.
The best one for me is, I’m flying a whole ass kilometer above a Yak-3U in my Mark 24 Spitfire just getting ready to dive on him as I see he was climbing still so he should be around 300 or 260km/h. Nah bro, he pitches up vertical and climbs that kilometer up to my altitude. Bloody thing’s a UFO.
Had similiar experience back all those years ago while flying the Arado 234 B-2. Flying comfortably at 5km, I saw what was probably I-225 (prolly, it was some time ago) some 2km below me. Dude suddenly pitched up and caught up with me. I nearly had a stroke, and I mean the heart related one.
Anyway thats partly the issue I have with ARB. I know its skill issue, theres no dancing around that, but the whole experience feels like spreadsheet simulator.
Check the plane im flying against, compare it to a plane im flying, find at which alt and speed i can beat him, and if i cant, well tough luck sport.
Doesnt help that 90% of my engagements looks like
“hey look, spitfire! guess which one!”
“uhhhh, the early one?”
“wrong :( death”
gets blown up to smithereens
Makes me dislike the entire gun only BR range of ARB, but I know the only way to overcome this is to play through it.
That’s definitely true for props. It’s position and energy… and if they aren’t in your favor relative the capabilities of the aircraft involved… you’re praying for a (big) mistake… because nothing else will save you ;-).
