It has nothing to do with how the players in question perform in terms of shooting, it’s about map control, flank protection and things like that.
It’s about not being completely at the mercy of your opponent after a few minutes.
It’s also not about those who die unhappily and then get ragequit, or people who just have to go to the door or the oven.
It’s about those who only take 1 vehicle with them and hope to get that one game out of 10 where they really get something with the vehicle.
And I have to disagree with you about the duration of matches:
Up to BR 8.0, the matches are often longer, sometimes even until the timer runs out.
This is because most players use their vehicles. Most of them. This means that everyone involved can generate more SL and RP.
What I can agree with you on, however, is that this is exactly why my Warthunder experience is unsatisfactory. Precisely because of that.
Because no matter how well I play in theory, I can’t influence whether the match is won or lost if a third of the players in the team have leaved after 2 minutes.
As I said, the team that has fewer of these ppl almost ALWAYS wins. I must know, because i stay in those matches.
That’s why I also suggested that you could introduce some kind of option in matchmaking.
Then all 1DL can polish their stats in their 2min matches, while everyone else can finally enjoy fair and exciting matches.
Win-Win or not ?
Totally agree with you on that point with your Clan.
Some people will never get “better” at it.
But the important point is, they never had to have to.
If they have fun at their skill-level that theyre at, they have already won.
But those guys are most of the time the players who got their 1-2 kills at 3 or 4 deaths, but while they do that, they block streets, hills, damaging enemies, helping u to repair, killing enemies that are about to kill you maybe, in short, they are taking part in the game and help the good players in making a difference.
And the mixture of that is creating interesting, exciting matches.
But hey, no matter what, i do recognize your right in doing things like you do.
But in return im using my right to disagreeing with u.
My man again F2P videogame, I play it however I want it if it doenst break written rules. I get teamplay and everything and I agree, but at the end of the day anyone is free to play it solo, dont ping, help or anything
Also do not forget that this game is only focused on casual players and that is why you can do almost whatever you want in battles and rules are so plain. It is simply better to expect nothing from your team mates and than be pleasantly surprised than have some hopes and be disappointed most of time.
Yeah like I get the people playing stupid. Like grind is infinite… some poeple love to play WW1 and WW2 stuff, they dont need to grind that much.
Some poeople want to play modern planes and tanks and they need to go throughout hell to get there…So I understand uptire being mostly grinding and not teamplay.
Like why is forbidden for casuals to play modern planes and tanks??? Zero logic.
Maybe if Gajin made game for teamplay and not for infinite grind we would not talk about this.
Yes…you agree to play a certain BR range and that maps and teams will be selected for you within some rules.
Then you also agree that if YOU CHOOSE not to accept the game you are given you get a PENALTY, in order to make players more willing to play what they are given.
SO…you can actually play HOWEVER you want…just get “checks and balances”…
If anything…in my PERSONAL opinion…the penalty for ODL is actually very light…more a “mental” thing to keep most players in the game…and allowing those that really want to play very specific conditions the freedom to do so…at a small cost in “time”.
EDIT:
Funny thing…i actually believe those above saying penalties should not exist would actually be those not liking the results of a “free for all”…most players only get the matches they “want” because many others are playing matches they “accept”.
99% of the time I do one dead leave it is for practical effects because of the game and the developers. When I shoot and the bullet bounces senselessly? One dead leave. When I go through areas of the map and suddenly the red zone of the map appears and causes me to either die due to time, or die due to going through an area without cover? One dead leave. When I shoot with a HEAT, APDS and HESH and the bullet only kills one crew member and I die? One dead leave. When I damage an enemy and the next 5 shots do nothing to him and in the end he kills me? One dead leave. When a plane kills me at minute 4 of the game? One dead leave. When I go with tanks from the 50s and I face tanks from the 80s? One dead leave. When I go through an area, I fight with several enemies killing some, but they outnumber me and my team is entirely at point C? One dead leave. In my case, the one dead leave is generated almost entirely by the fault of the devs and their mania of making the game more and more garbage, and a few times it would be due to my teammates and their horrible way of playing, just going forward without looking at anything else.
Please don’t misunderstand I’m not trying to put anyone down infact the opposite. All I’m trying to say is that there’s many reasons why people leave after one death, and that the people who leave after one wouldn’t be much different if they were forced to leave after three deaths.
It wasn’t meant to be about skill or the lack thereof, look no further than my own stats for the lack thereof.
Actually it makes sense from Gaijin perspective. They basically have monopoly on this kind of game play as there is no competition. So they can over-monetize their game and people will still play it as there is nowhere to go when you want to play this specific genre of game. So casuals can take long grind or they can pay for premium tank and time(combination of those two make it significantly faster) in order to shorten it.
I always agreed that removing crew lock would not help game at all as anyone would just leave at start of match if there was something that they do not like about it.
But making it harsher would probably not solve anything. Players would simply adapt their lineups so they do not have to stick for long in matches they are not interested. They could add filler useless tanks or be just passive for rest of match giving active players false sense of current team composition. It highly depends on implementation but you cannot punish players that does not have enough spawn points or does not have anything to spawn anymore because this could punish some players that never intended to leave early.
Depends on player and how good is in game. From my personal experience it was pretty fast with just one premium, especially if it is good like Leopard 2A4 or M1 KVT.
It’s about those who only take 1 vehicle with them and hope to get that one game out of 10 where they really get something with the vehicle.
You are literally describing every player here, whether its with one vehicle or a complete lineup.
And I have to disagree with you about the duration of matches:
Up to BR 8.0, the matches are often longer, sometimes even until the timer runs out.
As the game gets to higher BRs it becomes less and less accessible. My point is that at higher tiers, the matches are over quickly because the stakes are higher. At the highest BRs you have the biggest disparity between player skill as there are both players who have a complete mastery and players that have no mastery mixed in with casuals. Its also an issue of the best players in the game having the best tanks in the game and can unleash devastating streaks on the enemy team, quickly and effectively.
The reason everything seems to last longer at lower BRs is because literally everything is slower: the tanks, the turret traverse, the reloads, the shell velocities. The matches are in slow motion at 3.7 - 7.7, that’s why most matches last longer as you can be drunk or stoned and still walk away with a positive K/D, a cap and a few assists.
Didn’t even one death leave today. Just loaded up a top tier sim match, Heli’s on both teams got about 4 kills each first minute, with AA up dying to said heli’s, so i just alt f4
Sometimes I want to play just one particular tank, because I’m trying to spade it or unlock camos, or just because I feel like playing it. If you die, particularly when it’s early in the session, why bother respawning? Free backups are limited, why waste them when you can simply go back and queue up for the next match instead?
