What are your opinions on paper vehicles vs copy paste in small tech trees?

they why did the 3rd prototype lack any of the fuselage fittings that would be required to install the piston engine?

Spoiler

Notice how one fuselage lacks not just the intake scoop but also the hole in the top of the fuselage for the air to enter, there is no access hatch for the engine that can be seen on both the flying prototype and the 2nd fuselage behind it and the hole for the exhaust outlet?

Additionally at least the TR30 engines where built and ready to go :

Notice how I said almost entirely fictional

The engines for the first of the three ingame were ready and the chassis didn’t have a hole punched in it, that’s far from even a half-complete aircraft.

You had one fly under prop power, that was a pretty standard thing for new jet aircraft at the time

2 more partially built, one that clearly did not intend to ever be fitted with a piston engine, you had the first gen of jet engines build and tested.
That more then meets the requirement of a partial prototype.
But if you preferer the replacement C&P F-84 just because the 1st prototype eat a bomb before testing the jet engines, well I guess we have to agree to disagree.

The first prototype never even had engines fitted. And being honest, the F-84 has a way better place in the TT than the R2Y2s that Gaijin refused to move down from 8.0…

Let’s also just ignore none of the R2Ys ever had weapons fitted, and as far as I recall they were never planned to have quad 30s either. On its own this wouldn’t be bad, but combined with everything else…?

Preferably neither.

there exists countless unique vehicles to fill in gaps of trees however whether it be due to time constraints, not enough devs, poor planning, or whatever, we get copy paste vehicles.

If I were to pick one, I would rather see realistic paper vehicles in the game than see the soul of each nation sucked out of them.

I used to play warthunder constantly, however with the lack of actual new content/mechanics and competitiveness for GRB, I find myself playing this game only when I’m bored.

I’m waiting for the day GHPC gets PVE and hopefully PVP. I’m getting tired of the mindless gameplay of wt.

I will die on this hill, but paper vehicles are far more interesting and way less obnoxious than copy paste. Both are immersion annihilating, but one gives the game more variety, while the other dilutes the variety it currently has.

That being said, we do need to take care that the paper vehicles are grounded properly. We don’t need complete fabrications, or blatantly unrealistic nakpin diagrams. And care should be taken to ensure that they don’t end up overperforming based on the incredibly over ambitious designs that would have quickly been altered had they ever been fully built. Looking at you, Soyuz.

Real world vehicles should always get preference if they fill a nessesary role, but if no such vehicles exist and we know enough about the paper vehicle in question to make a faithful version of it in game, I’ll take paper over copy paste any day.

More paper vehicles, less copy paste please.

Of course, add realistic vehicles first as long as they aren’t full on copy paste, but other than that If prefer paper vehicles. Vehicles that feel fun and exciting to pay, not artillery piece from the U.S#41 for Germany, U.K, Japan, France, Italy, and whoever the hell else.

Paper vehicles for Japan only got it

Would you prefer the alternative of copy paste Malaysian, Philippines, and whatever southeastern Asian countries vehicles?

I would like to have a paper vehicle; however, it must be designed properly, something that is possible to be engineered in their time instead of pure sci-fi.

Hm well even if there was unique they probably wouldn’t bother adding it anyways

Unironically yes, more (real) diverse lineups/vehicles to form actual lineups >>> Paper nonsense that leads to the other game’s twin-cannon heavy tanks.

I, at least, am of the opinion that if it was added to the game at all it should be obtainable in some way (paid, free, idc). Removing the R2Y2s, the German stuff, and now maybe the Ho-Ri just worsens the issue of newer players not being able to get these vehicles, most of which are pretty damn strong. Having, say, the Panther II (75, not 88 with nvd) over another Patton would be amazing, as Pattons get old very fast.

To the original post : NEGATIVE!

You don’t need all nations to have counterparts to te big ones. Just give them more vehicles with unique abilities.

I only support “copy paste slop” when it’s needed. Like adding the Mirage III and F1s for South Africa is needed. South Africa is an established subtree, and British Rank 7 sucks (you cannot tell me that having the weakest Phantoms and the hottest jet known to mankind is good). Meanwhile, I hate useless copy paste slop, like the Netherlands being added to the French tree just to sell Leopard 2s and copy-paste American crap like the F-104 and F-16.

Copy paste: My definition of it is if it’s a 1 to 1 copy of an existing vehicle. I am only in favour if used to plug gaps in trees.

Paper vehicles: I’d say vehicles with a outlined plan and considering construction would be ok once all other options are exhausted. That being said imo cocelian should’ve stayed and the panther II be changed into a more realistic configuration.

The problem is that each nation is supposed to have something unique. Something that defines them and makes them standout from other nations (especially at top tier).

When you add more copy paste vehicles, you make less and less reasons for people to grind diverse tech trees. It’s technically worse for Gaijin in that regard…

Maybe Gaijin knows that players mainly grind 1 or 2 trees, as such they copy and paste stuff in order to give players more incentives to keep playing.

At the same time it allows them to inflate vehicle numbers and player frustration.

And each nation does have plenty of unique vehicles. Things like J7W1s, F-117s, and F-14s are never getting slapped in another TT.

I’d argue otherwise. The US, USSR and Germany are perhaps some of the most copy and pasted nations in game, yet most games are filled w/ players from one or two of the “Big 3” nations. These nations still have tons of unique vehicles and they fit in lineups with other unique or maybe copy and pasted vehicles quite well.

EG Japan has a Sherman, Chaffee, M16, M42/M19A1, M36, M41A1, etc. but they also have the Chi-To, Chi-Ri, Chi-Nu, Sub-I-II, ST-A1/ST-A2 and such at the same BRs. At the same BRs, the US has other Sherman variants (eg Jumbo and 75mms), M18, M10, M6A1/T1E1, etc. At those same BRs, China has T-34s, IS-2, Shermans, M18, ISU/Su series, Type 62, ZSL92, etc. I think its a bit weird to ignore these unique vehicles and lineups because things like the Sherman, M18 and T-34 were copy and pasted. I think its also a bit weird to ignore that these vehicles still have a significant history and lore behind them. I don’t think copy and paste dilutes a tech tree or gives a lesser reason to grind any nation.
