Do what we all do: buy a premium, put our Golden Eagles into crew and expert that premium slot, and then play until you are at top tier
I agree, but I think maybe 30% of that is caused by everyone just expecting quick matches and getting into the mindset of prioritizing the furball. Why take time to get better positioning for a single engagement when that increases your likelihood of being left in a 1v5 or 1v6 situation? That sort of thing.
True, but I’d also say that it’d generally be better for learning how to play the game by getting into more engagements - especially when that’s the majority of the issue when it comes to skill imo (and for me personally). I can spend the time climbing all the way to 5-7km, and I usually do, but once I’m there at least a third of the players in the match have already been knocked out and the number of engagements I can get in is lowered by a lot.
True. Not much else to say on that lol.
Spoiler
- That didn’t really seem to be the case last time I played them just a few days ago, but I can pull up the wiki to be more accurate in determining which enemy aircraft are airspawn.
- Yeah, I just don’t really see a super large number of them (maybe one or two per lobby, but not the 5-6 I usually see on non-US teams).
- I don’t have any problems with MEC, I should’ve worded as “US prop auto engine/prop/whatever control is infamously bad,” and that most players don’t use MEC.
- That is just one BR, though, and I don’t really remember there being too many XP-50s when I was at 4.0 in terms of progression (and in the matches I’ve done recently at 4.0-5.0 I didn’t see many of them).
- To be completely honest I can’t find those threads, outside of maybe the P-51D one.
The P-47s and the (later) P-51s were interceptors defending bombers, though, and interceptor spawns should be used for those aircraft (especially the ones with poor climb rates). Just from a game design standpoint it doesn’t make sense to have all of these high-altitude fighters/interceptors start as far from their useful altitude as possible - especially when the stereotypical fast-climbing interceptor actually doesn’t need an airspawn to be good.
It’s roundabout the smallest distance where a trailing enemy is unlikely to be able to hit you by leading their shots, in my experience.
He did at least twice after a couple of minutes, but he was down to only ~74 ammo in his cannons, so he was conservative with his shots (a little too much imo, but idk).
top tier is fucking ass and bad players dominate there because they can just rely on their missiles, no thanks.
You’re not wrong, but it gets the grind done a lot faster. Yesterday I got through Rank VI done in a few hours just buy using a premium. It took me a good day and a half to research the MiG 17 with a MiG 15. So yeah, I’d say spamming missiles get you done faster than slowly grinding.
dude what how does that take you a WHOLE DAY to research one jet?
I think the introduction of the “Skill” mechanic has turned the bulk of the player base into desperate sweats that will rush to take any kill they can get, even if that means losing 5000m of alt to join 5 other people already engaging a single guy on the deck, pushing a head on because they can’t bear the thought that someone else might get a kill if they dodge and come around or just straight up sheading your plane because you dared to get between them and “their” kill… never mind that you where dogfighting for half a min before they showed up.
That’s not to say that didn’t happen before, but its certainly gotten FAR worse.
Add in the compression with people just wanting to end the game ASAP and escape the up-tier they are in and people just trying to power grind jets and not realizing that a lot of skills you learn in props transfer to jets.
And don’t even start me on the canc… I mean “content creators” that promote stupid gameplay.
The fact that I was taking breaks because I loathe early jets. Especially since G-suits are the last thing unlocked, and going 3° downwards is enough to cause a blackout (exaggeration).
That mentality is only made worse because you can’t take your time to position yourself to get a kill. You need to be aggressive, and you need to be the first one there in order to get lots of kills from what I’ve seen.
i actually do the very opposite in props because i plan for a win and i know my team will evaporate fast, so i usually work the few smart guys up high and make my way down once im done, every single time i dived i eventually got pounded by 5 morons at once lol.
this is why i vastly prefer jets, you can escape a 1v5 and reset and win, in props though? yeah youre fucked.
oh yeah AND FUCK MID MAP AA, i just had a game on Midway where i was on a roll and the fucking midmap AA decided to kill me because i dared play the game and engage the enemy team, FUCK THIS GAME.
You got killed by af aaa (on Eastern Island = the right island, B point) and not by midmap aaa.
yeah, brilliant, lets put airfield AAA where most fights happen i guess, give players a safety bubble thats even more broken, that match pissed me off so bad
Whilst your frustration is comprehensible it is up to you (now with improved map knowledge) to avoid fighting above Eastern Island and to warn your team mates about the fact that the US airfield on Eastern Island has a deadly af aaa bubble.
Matches there are often a waiting game until the US players leave the bubble and can be cut off from their airfield.
Have in mind that Pacific maps are mostly balanced in favor of US/UK players. So the JP af aaa on both JP airfields on Saipan is totally useless - like the large af at A point on Iwo Jiima. A hell of US/UK players are fully aware of this…
Edit: Changed name of the island from Tinian to Eastern Island. Tinian is the right Island on Saipan :-)
i think i forgot to mention that it was the first time i flew on this map, so i had no clue how stupid the AF placement was, in my mind, those AA guns were normal AA units you find next to howitzers lol
And yeah now i’m never going near those things when flying pacific maps =P
and heres why i hate prop BR’s Gaijin Entertainment - Single Sign On
three morons from USMC (famed passive squadron) just circling and waiting for people to 1v3, no wonder they dont play jets, because you cant do that shit above 8.0
You’d be surprised, I’ve seen LARPers in Sim flying around in MiGs doing manoeuvres, where one baits a player into a turn fight, and then the second guy will tag in and bait the player into a fight, and they will keep doing this until they can get an elim.
What is even better is that they will trash talk in the chat, saying “too easy noobs” and “get good” after every elim, but will rage quit when you fight back.
They’re not as common, but you will see them in Sim sometimes. I don’t know, I always found LARPers weird, like why are you trying to play military in a video game? You are right, they are usually bad, but what is even more hilarious is how they talk like they are in a Hollywood film. Don’t get me wrong, I use the funny alphabet too, like “There’s a ςυητ in Charlie Six” kinda way, not the whole, “Fox three out on Bogey One, fox three splash, tango down” bollocks. In fact, the only time I do the latter is when I’m mocking them, but that’s because I actually did serve (Royal Navy in 2020) and did see conflict (Ukraine 2022-2023), so I have less of a tolerance for the Hollywood romanticism of US “heroes” in Afghanistan and those who LARP like they are Chris Kyle in a Phantom.
Reposting this because someone got pissed at me in another thread and decided to piss over my own and flagged this, and shaming neonazis is always good, sorry mr redditor.
ive never seen this in jet BR’s, but i see dickbags larping at high alt allll the time, and the fun thing is theyre absolute trash at the game too (kind of obvious when theyre being this passive)
heres another specimen ive had the displeasure of meeting in a match, and the cherry on top is he’s a little neonazi scumbag too! (check his cringe squadron for a laught) skip to the end

Imho the topic of this thread: “Where prop BR teams better back then?” requires more than anecdotal posts of recent events addressing player behaviour you don’t like or pointing out certain design flaws on specific maps.
Whilst i agree that it is extremely painful to fight coordinated squads as solo player, suffer from design flaws on Pacific maps or to see that certain individuals find ways to glorify certain (in most countries forbidden) world views your recent input looks mostly way off-topic - just because it is not related to teams.
Even your negative experience with sweatlord squads is technically seen not topic related simply because these squads were always part of Air RB…
Was better back then but the same kind of behaviour was still a thing.
