I would since the F-117 isn’t going to be good and the thread is more so talking about the NATO aircraft keep getting handicaps to their CAS ability (see: tornado GR.4) but russia gets no such hindrances.
I don’t know, I feel like NATO CAS does pretty well RN. I always get killed by one of those fancy German/American planes when I drive my Merkava out of spawn
New American victimist thread each day.
Meanwhile US has the best CAS at top tier, and in general too. It is shocking how many people legitimately believe in Russian bias. Especially shocking is people who believe in Chinese bias. Are these people completely blind to reality? Eyes replaced with imaginations?
The US is supposed to have the best CAS at all tiers.
The US does not have a missile capable of tracking past 20KM, Russia does.
The US does not have a FNF missiles for its helicopters. It also does not have a missile capable of firing through smoke, Russia does.
What exactly does the US have that outclasses its Russian counterpart?
Entirety of USSR CAS is the su-34 and the su-25 to you?. I know you aren’t the brightest with the amount of low quality bait threads you spam, but this is never level ignorance
If you consider firing at a fixed point on the ground “tracking”, sure.
You’d know FnF missiles suck if you ever used them. Also, firing through smoke is a gimmick as it only works when you know exact location of the enemy through the smoke. (In other words, if enemy just stays entirely still after firing smoke).
US has missiles with which you can pop up at the last moment to guide. In other words, possibility to get kills with limited risk.
US has most CAS options overall. For example F-16C is supersonic plane with 6 IR guided, AGM-65Ds (might I mention, that have been fixed and now overpressure easily), and can equip 4 AIM-120s (the BEST and least gimped ARHs in entire game) at the SAME TIME (the combination of these traits is unparalleled in any tech tree in War Thunder currently). That is only one of the many great options for top tier US CAS. And now the F-15E is incoming.
I know you are a troll, but I’m responding for others in this thread as well.
Either a stationary radar system in spawn or an AI AWACS system could be put in the air, then the launcher vehicle could be either the player vehicle (if the launcher can initiate missile launch) or the player can drive the command vehicle with the launcher also being stationary within their spawn.
The option with the command vehicle could add some interesting gameplay (or at least more of a challenge) as you’re guiding the system from a position different than that of the launcher.
The SLAMRAAM/SLAMRAAM-ER was tested for the US (~15km and ~25km respectively), then there were the MSL and 2017 Linebacker demostrators (AIM-9X launchers), and some others that you can find in the top tier SPAA thread.
Neither the SLAMRAAM nor the Linebacker are patriot systems (and even then, 15-20km would be even more broken than is needed considering current user operable SPAA engagement ranges). The AWACS idea is great… until someone in one of the 15-25km away spaa spawns in and nuke it instantly… or someone spawning CAP removes it from existance.
Maybe put it outside the map? Then there is a completely non counterable gimick in game which is sure to piss off as well. Either way, the response was regarding the Patriot system. I am down for more Air Defense, but within reason… plus with the common sense that Gaijin will somehow manage to break it or nerf it to be less powerful than their magical counterparts…
Gaijin need to just cut the crap, and use the full size map for the ground battles (only for the aircraft coming in) and have aircraft spawn at their respective locations as they would in ARB / Sim EC to balance out the CAS / SPAA issues at higher BR’s. You can even see the tank playable areas on some air maps when you are on them… which caught me off guard the first time I did. This would prevent the SPAA from nuking something within 30 seconds of it spawning, it would prevent people from spawning in at full airspeed with altitude and the energy needed to moon climb to dump munitions at will.
Title says NATO not USA
surely a subsonic jet is better than a supersonic one
Okay, but thats not how vehicles work in War Thunder, they are based on who operated them with exceptions for nations that arent in the game getting assigned to the partner nations they developed them with (Argentina in Germany), Canada is already in the GB tree because it is a commonwealth country.
Yep, enjoy your skink because thats all youre getting
This topic confuses me.
To me, the epitome of CAS is HVARs and 1000lbs iron bombs an thus:
P-47s, P-51s, Corsairs and Hellcats, then theres the AD2/4 AM-1 Mauler etc which carry enormous payloads backed up by 20mm cannons.
All of which are capable fighters however;
With Russia, the IL-2s, the Su-6s and Pe-2 and Tu-2s are all capable attackers but all have serious drawbacks that make them vulnerable to fighters or SPAA
The IL-2 Su-6s have devastating firepower and decent manoeuverability but are slow and can easily be shot down with SPAA and fighters. The also have a handicapped bomb and missile load compared to US contemporaries.
The twin engine bombers are fast and carry improved payloads but sacrifice offensive aramament and can defend themselves effectively from enemy fighters.
To me the above planes reprsent a the Russian and USSR CAS component.
As far as the Yak 9K goes, players have been using the Yak 9T to do the same job for years (The ITP-M1 more recently also) albeit requiring more shots to achieve the same kills. The Yak 9K is definitely an easy plane to pick up and use but the US still has access to superier fighter bombers and attackers at every BR nearly.
Maybe its just nostalgia but as far as I’m concerned US takes holds the crown as king of CAS, I’d argue that Germany follows second and UK is a close third followed by USSR in 4th place.
No, it wasn’t. It never was. Gaijin doesn’t go by who owns it and operates it, they go by who is currently using it AND how much of the vehicle remains original components(minor and major) from their country of origin.
Cause going by your logic then the Heavy No. 6 should be in the German Premium Tech Tree as it never arrived in Japan since it was canceled, in which the Germans would reuse it in France where it was captured according to some pictures, can’t find them at the current moment. “Very few Tigers saw service in foreign armies, allied with Germany or otherwise. The Japanese examined a Tiger on 30th July 1943 through their military attaché and even paid a sum of money to the German government for one. Arrangements were in place to try and ship it after November 1944, but it was never delivered. As a result, the Japanese interest ended up as little more than a symbolic gesture, as the tank was simply being pressed back into normal service by the Germans instead.”
Some were saying it was sent back to France and there are pictures of it that can back this claim as it was a weird Tiger I rather than a Tiger E or a Tiger H1. Though i would need to look further on the lovely word of the dead internet.
Gaijin’s arbitrary no-trailer rule (except for the Churchill Crocodile, apparently) makes it so that single-vehicle systems have to be added, hence the mentioning of other systems.
So capable in fact, that if you get jumped while carrying bombs and HVARs, you can easily drop them/shoot them off, WEP to max and either win the fight or run away in the F4U-4. If the enemy is a frontline bomber or strike fighter, you can even get away with keeping your bombs/rockets and still outfly them (like a german Do 335 B-2 or Me 410 B6/R3).
It’s better than the M19/M42 for sure when it comes to AA. The best SPAA before the M̶1̶6̶3̶ M247 is the M16, so if you enjoyed 6.7 then M16 is the the best SPAA you have bro
US is for sure the best at cas. Germany is good at low/mid ranks and USSR/Russia is okay in low ranks and doesnt get good again until around top tier.
Is the T-29 really a Russian tank? Or the Leo-2? Or the F-14? Balance in this game is nowhere to be found, and it’s never even been here. The only scheme this company has mastered is adding a ‘kill-all’ button, ideally for money; when sales start dropping, they nerf it and add the next one. So when a community manager shows up on the forum explaining the company’s controversial decisions in terms of balance, feel free to laugh right in their face.
This is a lie; the development of this missile began in the '90s and was completed in the late 2000s.
The 305 is not an analog of the LongBow; it’s a missile with an optical seeker that can be controlled by the operator after launch.
