Idk, a buddy of mine is not overly impressed by the Swiss F-18. To him the Aim 7 sparrows are just too slow compared to other missiles and IR ones are not very great in His opinion either due to flareability.
He is the very epitome of a WT Skill issue tho, eventually he took enough Napalm for two bases, 2 Aim-9 and an additional fuel Tank. In good matches he gets two bases and some AI tragets, yielding 10k RP on average, 15k when he gets an enemy player as well.
I think the US and Israeli F-16C are pretty equal in an asymtrical way. US one has slightly better flight performance due to the better engine while the Israeli one has more countermeasures.
For main USA, the grass is always greener on the other side.
It’s easy to say when you never even touched the missil
again easy to say when you’ve never used these planes
better FM for dogfighting; in exchange for worse engines, worse radars, less power… and without HMD which is a fundamental tool for the top tier.
What’s the point of having a better FM for dogfighting if you’re going to take a missile off-board the plane with HMD?
It’s very easy to give an opinion about planes you’ve never touched.
for main US all nations are better than them, but they never change nations, they just complain on the forum with the purest victimhood.
As someone who used to be a zomber (don’t look at how many ju288 games I have) it teaches you awful habits and will severely hamper your progress in getting better at the game.
You have one of the best BVR kits at 12.7 and should be climbing and taking control of altitude, learning how to defend and dodge fox1/3. At this point I don’t think there is ever a case at any BR you should be mowing grass unless you are in something like high BR subsonic, you should at least be going below contrail.
When I played 12.7 a couple months ago it was only uptiers to 13.0-13.7, so yeah going for altitude will only get you bonked by far superior R-27ERs or even ARH missiles.
Although that is still be better than zombing in a Hornet.
I mean your are in a hornet if you side climb youll be well behind your team and doing that maybe only half my games ill get launched on first, and unless its a r27 its not hard to shake a fox3 since its 90% of the time just a random launch at 20km+ and not someone running you down, and those take all of 10-15 seconds to defeat. And if it is a r27 as long as you defend and you sideclimbed left that guy is most likely gonna get picked by your team if he tries to close in on you. The games you are allowed to stay up at alt unmolested you get free reign on the furball from above and that will more than make up for the games ruined by having to defend early against r27.
Also it will be interesting to see the new graph for fairness, i have a feeling 12.7 is one of the best brs to play at right now, feels like 80% of my matches im seeing 12.0 thanks to the sale causing a tsunami of f4s spam.
Ya but when you are up at 5k+ going mach 1.4 those sparrows get a good boost in range, you can throw them 20km in a headon up there or 15km down towards the furball. I know they arent r27er but compared to the same planes at 12.7 carrying them you get 3x more and that evens the playing field I think, maybe not 1v1 but in terms of just total kill potential it might be slightly better. It def doesn’t hurt as much if your launch misses or doesn’t make it before the target dies when you have 6 vs 2 missiles.
I get there are planes with 6-8 just .3 br higher and that kinda sucks, which is also why people asking for 9m on these planes are just lowkey asking for a massive nerf to the plane under some guise that better IR missiles would make it worth.
I’ve been just climbing in all my planes no matter what because I feel like im able to maintain better situational awareness up here even at a disadavantage in bvr because being in the deck in a furball is just too chaotic and I end up getting slammed by someone I didnt notice. Being up high and working the radar and trying to maintain as much seperation as possible has been working a lot better for me consistency wise, and If I die up here at least I can know why I did and try to improve and think what I could have done better than just “crap I didnt notce that guy”.
I’ve tried flanking on the deck, but I find that if someone up high finds me im pretty much dead meat since im alone and put in an awful posisition where im just praying to multipath gods and that guys eventually gets on my 6 anyways since he had a massive alt/energy advantage and forced me to nose away from him. If you are down low you wont be able to rely on your radar to find people as easily either so its harder to know who is where etc. and posisition accordingly.
What? CL-13 isn’t even American, it’s Canadian. And the F-104G was never used by the US, in fact, it was specifically made for Germany, and the vast majority of them were made in Germany. All the upgrades (RWR, countermeasures, etc) were German as well. F-4Fs were also never used by the US.
lets not forget the fact that by the time F-104G was introduced to the luftwaffe service, 1962 if im reading correctly, US was introducing Phantoms. Of course US wouldnt need to upgrade their F-104s when they had superior aircraft by then.
What was the reason for not giving them sparrows? Wish it had them, until the swiss subtree germany didn’t have much for early bvr. Mirage IIIs was a lot of fun.
