There is no point in arguing this.
Go testflight harrier GR1, put yourself 2.5km behind mig15 with zero closing speed and fire a missile. See what happens. Simple as.
Even if you’re fighting something like MiG-15 or F-86, it’s the same story. You’re completely helpless if you wanna dogfight em.
F-106 is comparable to an F-104 in terms of effectiveness imo.

It’s an f104 which has the ability to out pull anything for a 2 turns. F104 is already strong.
He was clearly not closing in.
SRAAMs were heavily buffed. They have ~AIM-9J range now.
The F-104 is easily in the bottom 3 worst 8.3-10.3 planes after the ahistorical drag nerfs. F-106 isn’t as bad, but it still sucks.

In what world are F-100D, F3H, J29F, A32, Ki-200, and Jaguar Gr.1 worse?
F-117, B-66, and Buccaneer are for sure worse, and you could MAYBE make a case for the A-7, F-84F, and B-57, but the majority of that list is far better than F-104.
F-100D and F3H-2 are easily some of the best planes for their BR in WT.

The GR.1A is great but the GR.1 is just a brick thats not fast enough to make up for it.
If given a choice between a supersonic with Aim-9Bs and a supersonic with Aim-9Gs, I’ll take the 9Gs.
Even if the Jaguar really is that bad, comparing the F-104 to such a bad plane to say it’s good, is really just saying it’s bad.

There’s a big difference between being just about able to get past mach 1 after a long straight flight, Vs getting supersonic 20 seconds after take off.
Doesn’t sound much different from the F-104 which loses 200mph in a single 90° turn. Again, comparing the F-104 to the Jaguar, even if it is slightly better, is still a far cry from the F-104 being equal or even better than F-84F or F-100D.
F-84F is actually depressing, don’t tell me you really think it’s a playable vehicle? I can’t be missing something because seriously, its engine sucks, it doesn’t turn and bleeds all its energy when it tries turning. CanNOT be compared to the F-104
