Updated gun sound effects are terrible, revert back!

Flew more 109 today.

I like how the Mg-151 sounds from cockpit view. Feels like it’s got a delicious thunk to it.

Yeah, i don’t like regular changes to sound and would like to be able to use something like mod or maybe ingame variants of sound which we were able to hear in updates before. But im fine with this, i guess…

I flew my P-40C and in Air RB and you can’t tell the difference between 7.62 and .50 cal sounds. The latter sound like a .22. This is the worst sound update yet. They don’t need to “update” gun sounds that sound good and realistic and that most people find acceptable. Whoever this person is that needs to change the gun sounds every few updates for job security needs to be fired or reassigned. I agree that the gun sounds need to be reverted to those prior to the Tusk Force update.

I think tank main guns sound good, but plane cannon and machine guns sound worse.

The sound of the TPK 6.41 is quite horrible, very annoying, almost unbearable.

Bunch of sound updates in today’s update! Hopefully this solves/improves (most) of the sound issues we have been having 👍

New sound bug for me.

I hear random atgms fire near me, i cant figure out what causes it or when it happens.

the last match it happened to me i was on north holand, there was no enemy or friendly near me and i heard the atgm fire next to me as if there was something there. Couldnt have been enemy becuase my team was in their spawn, so either a heli or a friendly firing an atgm caused it.

HRM, that would be very interesting to check. @VeloxNimbus can you paste a replay link to the match in question? Hopefully not too many matches to look through, especially since you remember which map it happened on.

(Also, are you using any sound mods, or just plain stock WT Sounds?)

Nah the 215m tracks and engine sound limit from 2.45.1.50 is still there.

Makes flanking too easy and the game feel cheap.

Wow, the sound comes from the left but theres nothing in that direction that could even make that sound

This is a really old bug, and it’s effects anything with a rocket motor; rockets, SAMs, and ATGMs.
it’s very weird, and there’s been a few threads about it before, but it’s so inconsistent and hard to notice that I don’t think anyone has managed to capture it before.

It’s interestingly you’ve the first I’ve seen of it actually repeating in the replay. From what I’ve seen other people saying, and my own personal experience the phantom sounds don’t occur in replays.

AWESOME!!! I am going to download all the replay part files right now so we have them archived before they fall off of the replay site. (EDIT: I have them all downloaded now.) And if you have not played too many games, can you do me/us a favor and save YOUR computer’s replay file as well? They are always different, ie they track different info. (YOUR computer’s replay file “I think” is “only” supposed to record what YOU saw during the match. Kinda sort of like yours records the “local” side of the match, while the server records what it “actually saw”.)

I am not 100% sure on all of those details, but I do know that they can be very different and it might be useful to the devs to have both.

Yeah, it looks like you really found a rare/useful example of this, probably worth making a new bug report with this excellent evidence. OH and on that note, probably a good idea to go ahead and copy out your log files to a new folder for when/if you make a new bug report for this. The sooner the better to copy it out 👍

It has about a lot of logs saved, i didnt launch the game yesterday so the 7th when the bug happened is saved and the next date is todays one.

Should be “good enough”/fine even though you have played a bit since then. I am not sure exactly how the logs are updated, but since you have the exact battle replay link+time etc, I think it they can deduce the information they need from the .clog 🙂

MLRS sound when heard from a distance is quite low now and most of the times you’ll only notice the impact, 3 sound uptades before (this being the 3rd) these used to make a drum sound from distance then you’ll hear the whistle and subsequent impact if it was aimed at your general direction, i wish that was added again it was a cool detail as one would notice there was an MLRS firing somewhere, when i heard that sound i’d instantly realize there was another panzerwerfer or a katyusha/calliope nearby and i’d seek them for 1v1 it was awesome, panzerwerfer and probably the other mlrs too also lack the rumbling screen effect when rockets are falling nearby which is something rakatenautomat PL-3 rockets have probably bcoz these are used on planes too, that would be another great addition to these vehicles
