Update 2.39.0.53

Ground Vehicles

  • New ground training missions have been added that allow you to familiarize yourself with weapons and equipment:
    • Laser rangefinder;
    • SAM with IR seeker with uncaging;
    • SAM with IR seeker without uncaging;
    • Binoculars.

These new training missions can be found under Battles > Tutorial from the hangar. The laser rangefinder mission can also be launched after receiving this modification via the vehicle modification window.

  • Dispersion fields from secondary fragments in AP caliber shells — the armor penetration of secondary fragments when a shell penetrates at the limits of its armor-piercing capabilities (for example, when a shell penetrates 284 mm of armor when its penetration capability is 286 mm penetration) has been increased. This means that in these cases secondary fragments will now penetrate more inside a tank and do more damage.
  • Following the Roadmap: armor-piercing high-explosive (APHE) shells — the warhead now remains intact after the shell explodes, provided that the mass of the explosive is less than 1.33% of the mass of the shell. This means that in these cases, the warhead will now act as a mini-AP round inside the tank after the initial shell penetrates the armor.
  • M830A1 — flight time until self-destruction has been increased from 6 to 9 seconds. (Report).
  • MIM146, RB 70 Mk.2, BOLIDE — a bug that caused the armor penetration on non-normal angles to be lower than it should have been has been fixed. (Report).
  • Spike LR2 missile — armor penetration has been increased from 700 to 910 mm. (Report).
  • DKY-1, DTB-1, DTB12-125, 57х438 HE-VT, OTO HE-VT, 76/62 HE-MOM, kulsgr m/90, slsgr m/484, M822, XM884, M830A1, 3UO8 — the arming distance of the radio fuze has been decreased to 200m.
  • OR-281U, BR-281U, BR-281SP, DKY-1 — external ballistics have been corrected. Source: “Таблицы стрельбы 57-мм Автоматической зенитной пушки (С-60) по воздушным целям».
  • Type 16 (P) — wheel texture has been fixed. (Report).

Aircraft

  • J-10A — an additional 800 liter drop-tank under the fuselage has been added. The underwing drop-tanks have been replaced from 800 liters to 1600 liters.
  • A-7K — RWR has been changed from AN/APR-36 to AN/ALR-46. (Report). Source: A-7K Corsair II SAC - December 1986.
  • A-7D — RWR has been changed from AN/APR-36 to AN/ALR-46(V). (Report). Sources: A-7D Corsair II SAC — December 1986, T.O. 1A-7D-2-1, 1st May 1991.
  • MiG-21 “Lazur-M” — a bug that caused the drop-tanks to be missing in X-ray view has been fixed.

Naval Vessels

  • Letuchiy — a bug where the 40 mm guns under AI control did not open fire on air targets has been fixed. (Report).
  • HMS Barham — a bug where the AI-controlled secondary 152 mm guns attempted to fire at air targets has been fixed. (Report).
  • IJN Myoko — a bug where the displayed in X-ray view reload time of the secondary 127 mm guns was underestimated, since it took into account the presence of a first shot stowage, which this ship does not have has been fixed. (Report).

Interface

  • A bug where the button to select secondary weapons didn’t display when doing a test flight for aircraft that are available to be researched has been fixed.
  • A bug where it was not possible to create custom sights for tanks at ranks that were not unlocked yet has been fixed. (Report).
  • A bug where it was not possible to move the second to last crew slot to the last position in the crew list has been fixed.

Sound

  • CV9030FIN, CV9035DK, CV9035NL — have been given their own Scania V8 engine sound.
  • Su-24M’s GSh-6-23 cannon — has been given its own firing sound.
  • Ratel ZT3A2’s ATGM — has been given its own firing sound.
  • A bug where bomb impact sounds would sometimes not be heard by players on the ground in the impact zone has been fixed.
  • A bug where nuclear strike warning siren sounds were sometimes not heard has been fixed.
  • Fire sounds have been changed so that they don’t sound like tank or aircraft engines.

Patch notes reflect only key changes, meaning they may not include a complete list of all improvements made. Additionally, War Thunder is constantly being updated and some changes may not require an update. Changes reflected in patch notes are formed by taking reactions and requests of the community from the bug reporting service, forums and other official platforms into account. Bug fixes and changes are implemented in order of importance, for example a game-breaking bug will be worked on and implemented sooner.

Very nice, THANK YOU!

Very big fix for a very relevant weapon in Top Tier.

Can’t wait to try out Namer and PUMA VJTF now!

Has Spike’s issue where it will often straight out miss a stationary vehicle been addressed as well? In that case, it would be the cherry on top!

And when was the “Community Vote”?

This part was not part of the vote.

APHE was getting buffed regardless, its physics getting fixed was for whatever inexplicable reason up for a community vote.

They said in the original post that that was being added regardless, the vote was for whether or not to test out the rest of the proposed changes.

As it should be. It was mostly a nerf and it would affect the balance of many tanks, and it is too major to not make it a vote. It wasn’t just a simple fix too.

Yep.

Making the strongest shell type even stronger was not up to debate.

However, toning down its overperforming aspect to balance out the further additional buff was optional…

And then we all know what came next.

There was never going to be a community vote for that historical correction, which is a buff mind you.

That only impacts 3% of the side profile of tanks.

APHE is currently the only working shell in the game and any sort of buffs to it simply odd. The only mind game is to make it even better so actors community will ask to “fix/balance” the shell, where gaijin can finally “assassinate the last working mechanic”.

It shows 900mm in the game

No changes to flight path and guidance unfortunately.
The penetration will definitely help but since the missile usually hits the most armored points and often hits at angles similar to a regular shell instead of top attack the results won’t differ too much imo

That’s a lie.
APCR, APFSDS, APDS, HEATFS all are working rounds.
APFSDS being the most accurately depicted round in WT, with APHE being one of the least accurate rounds in depiction.

Nobody but you talks about so called “accuracy”, I am talking about the actual gameplay aspect of the shells. Heavily doubt that APHE oneshot rate is any near to the “accurate shells” you mentioned that tend to do funny damage.

I think the devs should focus on optimizing the maps. There are maps where the graphics work around 75%, while on other maps it runs at 99% for most of the game.

The graphics are the lowest priority lol.
Some maps are similar to Clash Royale which effectively removes every advantage a vehicle can have that isn’t frontal armor and firepower that can defeat this armor.

Eh, I’d love them to review the render distances.

I’ve seen reports that ground-striking in sim suffers from convoys and tanks not rendering until you’re close enough (Tanks don't render over long distances).

In air proper, black dots sometimes randomly disappear. It seems to happen less now that I turned off FXAA, but that’s a problem all the same.

Very impressive, always lovely to hear new and updated engine sounds!

However, CV9035NL didn’t get the updated engine sound.
