Having a Br placement of 13.3 in air sim, its kinda a Bs thing when Western tt (specifically US) have to faced russian made vehicle (japan, russian, or chinese tt) that have:
HMD
Fox 3
Fox 2 with IRCCM
vehicles like Mig-29SMT and the Su-30 prem (which kinda getting spammed atm)
Except for F-4F ICE which have considerably weaker air performance, Western planes doesn’t have all those 3 in a single plane.
For example:
F-16A ADF: good air peformance, Fox-3, but no HMD nor IRCCM, and low Cm counts (45 totals)
AV-8B plus: Fox-3 and IRCCM, but no HMD and its sub-sonic
F-4F ICE: Fox-3, HMD, IRCCM, but in disadvantage in air performance when compare to things like Su-30 or Mig-29SMT
i suggest that gaijin should make F-16C be 13.3 in air sim (perhaps even air rb), considering its on par with Mig-29SMT and it will gave western tt a little more equal footing
Arguable if its worse, i’ll say its rather quite equal with different playstyle. One (the US jets) is capable in sustain dogfight while the other (eastern plane) favor a quick decisive engagement (one turn tricks).
if you’re talking about no western planes have a single plane that have all those 3, you better give example of the planes that have it. If you’re talking about F-4F ICE having a weaker air performance against Su-30 and Mig-29SMT, you better stated it and argue about it. F-4F ICE doesn’t have a either the sustain turn rate like other more modern western jets nor the high AoA pulls like the eastern jets. Not to mentioned the lack of an actual digitalized instrument (more precisely the analog HUD) which gave an disadvantage compare to either the F-16/15 or the Su/Mig jets.
This quote is already answered in my first paragraph. Its all depends on the playstyles.
Both of the US planes I mentioned are way better in DF in any regards, you don’t even have to try to beat the MiG-29s to even get behind them, it bleads speed so fast that they just fall out of the sky that even the F-4 has a chance, it really is a big deal if you know what you’re talking about and it doesn’t matter how you’re playing if the plane is just worse.
That is a terrible idea ngl, a good airframe with excellent acceleration and great energy retention would be far too op for 13.3, even more op then 13.3 SU-30s even with only 6 missile.
Instead of moving jets down, gaijin should propelt decompress 10.0 to 14.7 br range in both air rb and air sim
you already have 13.0 and below heavily favoring bluefor, let’s make it worse. i don’t even talk about pig-29 smt is literal flying axe and earlier mig29s have doggy avionics against freakin ESA
At 13.0, America gets four really crappy Fox-3s, that have been left in an intentionally gimped state despite better Fox-3s at the BR, on a subsonic airframe that can’t dogfight, has mid radar, and no HMD.
At 13.3, even Israel, A MINOR NATION, gets 4 very good close range Fox-3s, on a mach 1.3+ airframe that dogfights like a MiG-21, with HMD and (iirc) AESA radar.
Neither Mig-29 nor Su-30 is as bricks as you stated. Sure they will turn to bricks as soon they bleed their speed too much, but those goes back to the fact that it wasn’t supposed to do a sustains dogfight fight.
When a Mig-29 or Su-30 merges with F-16 or F-15, eastern plane can deploys their airbrake and genuinely pulls harder AoA than their opponents. Adds to it, their HMD and R-73 which can absolutely claps their opponents the first few turn of the dogfight. But they will be a bricks once the fight dragged too long.
I suggest F-16C purely because of the HMD, Higher CM counts, and Top speed (i don’t suggest F-15C because their higher missile counts and even higher top speed will be too broken). It happened too often in a dogfight when my F-16A ADF fought those russian planes where in a beginning of a merges they pulls harder AoA and shoot their R-73.
Wdym i gotta defends from those R-73 with a grand total of 30 Flares (15 large Cm for chaff)?? This is a bit of personal griped, not to mentioned the flares placement for the CM on the F-16. Having the CM dispenser under the fuselage while the missile came from the top is such bs. I can’t fly high or else they’ll gonna spam their Fox-3 while i have to defends from those with a total of 15 Chaff.
try playing BVR, this game is not only about dogfights at 10m altitude… then F-16, F-15 are really strong, better than su30, migs, and other blind jets
Facts Russians/redside utterly dominate at 13.3.
The su-30mkk/mk2/j-11a are utter beasts at that br. Literally better than a lot of the 13.7 planes but at 13.3. It’s hilarious.
Even if they move the f-16c down to 13.3 that plane is still worse than the su-30s/j-11a.
They need to move either the su-30/j11a up or move a bunch of 13.7s down
I tried to do so, my problem is the planes i’m using.
As i stated earlier, here’s the cons on BVR for the planes i’m using
F-16A ADF, low Cm counts. With that fact, they can keep pressing their attack with Fox-3 while i have to make sure that each chaff are spent as effectively as possible. If i brought Chaff more than flares, they can pushed hard to get to close range and fire their Fox-2 (which with low flares will make it near impossible to flares those R-73 while i can’t pre-flares them)
AV-8B+, sub-sonic speed. Sure in a BVR it’ll be more capable, but once it got to close range they can harass me with their speed.
All of this scenario is assuming that both players skills is equal.
Its just a suggestion for ARB, while i still advocate the F-16C to be 13.3 in SIM. Though having a more decompress BR might solve the problem without putting the F-16C at 13.3.
Alright, i’ll try to list the pros and cons as much as i know. Do help me if i miss some points.
Russian/eastern jets cons (Planes used for example are Su-30 (prem) and Mig-29SMT): Relatively bad radar, R-77 relatively bad BVR capability, Weak engine and bad energy retention.
Western jets pros (Planes used for example are F-16A ADF and AV-8B+): Excellent radar (especially AV-8B+), Excellent turn rate (especially F-16A ADF), High Thrust to Weight.
even so, its still doesn’t cover the fact that F-16A ADF have low CM which forced the player to be on point with their evasion and AV-8B+ Sub-sonic speed.
I can’t see the pros of the two planes can covers their cons.
if you play BVR correctly, you usually don’t need chaff, much less flares to survive. So your argument about CM is weak.
The lower BVR capabilities of aircraft like the Su-30 aren’t due to missiles, but to poor situational awareness—they’re blind. High situational awareness is the foundation of BVR.
So don’t write that F16s or F15s are weak to BVR.
I hate to say this, but you’re a typical case of “skill issue”: fragmented thinking, ignorance of game mechanics, a lack of understanding of tactics, a typical player with no battle plan. It’s easier to complain on a forum than to sit down and start learning.
