it can absolutely be killed by autocannons easily, it has basically leo 2a4 armor with less coverage for the hull 0.6 br higher, not to mention the difference of reload time has been basically mitigated since most manual loading tanks got the 5 sec reload

I never said it couldn’t entirely, but the Abrams is much more susceptible due to its turret ring. Even weaker autocannons can cut through it.
The Mobility, 4 second reload, and DM33 make the Type 90 an absolute menace. Especially in a down tier.
If we compare it to other 11.3, it’s not a contest. The Challenger 2 and Merkava 3 are two examples of vehicles which share its BR. Those two tanks don’t really compare to its deadly abilities.
Pff…the Type 90 is a glass cannon. There is no need to move it up.

The issue is that we got 1 step br increase past 10.0, which helped only 9.0-9.3 vehicles. Maximum BR should be increased further and only then it will be balanced.
Everything, including 25 and 30mm autocannons can penetrate the Type 90/10 frontally and kill them with basically no fuss. It’s a glass cannon and a glorified light tank.
It’s got 3 crew and even though it has a 4 second reload the autoloader is extremely easy to disable. It’s armor is non-existent, just like the Ariete you people keep mentioning.

Not really. 4 vs 5 seconds is pretty big, I mean 5 seconds is 25% slower not to mention its manually loaded which can have its upsides and downsides. Downsides being, killing the loader will worsen reload time and extinguishing a fire will reset the reload. The upside being the extra crew member and no need to repair an autoloader.
Not like the Type 90 is OP though, its an obese light tank with 0 armour so theres also big trade offs.
Nah, it fine at 11.3. You just need to see it and shoot it first. That thing is just a cardbroad tank with some armour, and the sight on that thing also quite suck
From what I see the only difference between the type 90 and type 10 sitting at 12.0 are the round and possibly thermals.
The better round virtually makes no difference on what you can pen at top tier, most tanks either have a weak spot or they don’t.
The type 90 also seems to have better mobility.
T80’s sit at 11.7 with worse mobility, worse gun handling and depression and a 2.5 second longer reload.
Mainly because of armour, and better round paired with good mobility.
Type 10 generally has better protection with ~600mm vs KE in some places, the round is much better making weakspots bigger/more reliable to pen and vastly better optics overall not just gen 3 thermals

Sight is the difference, Type 10 having a 3 gen thermal and a great sight while the Type 90 is just having 1 gen thermal and the sight is really one of the worst in the BR, the zoom rate is too high for close combat and too small for sniping
Considering it has the middest round for the br and there is basically no upsides for an autoloader (turret sized target that renders you completely useless for at least 40 seconds when hit, 1 less crew = less survivability) i beliveve it can be considered mitigated, it may be a 25% slower reload but these are low values reloads, a 22 sec to 18 sec reload would have a smaller relative difference but those 4 seconds are much more significant, the japanese are outliners for getting an autoloader actually faster than a manual loading mbt in this game

Faster firerate is faster firerate. Anyone who has used the Abrams vs the Type90 will tell you that the 1 second reload advantage is pretty big. Also most Abrams players don’t Ace their crew, so realistically their reload is between 5.3-5.8s (5.3 if expert crew, 5.8 without expert).

True but the Type90 is still plenty survivable (not to the level of the Abrams). It feels like it can take a lot of hits.
