Troll squads

99% chance it is 1 lvl10 player in a premium and 2-3 lvl 5-10s in reserves.

That is what they always are when i get them.

Well the low-BR planes attacking ground in Air Arcade still need to deal with air defenders right? And keep in mind - it’s not just prop vs jet. It can also be low-BR prop vs high-BR prop. Who’s likely to win there?

“friends on sight” comment - I certainly do not want tourists on my team. I will leave battles when I notice that. How is that good for the game?

In the end, there’s no justification for allowing players into a battle if they don’t meet certain requirements. Can’t control unskilled players, but we can control the equipment being brought into a battle.

  • weird squads
  • j out or crash on purpose
  • unfair matchmaker (10.0-11.0 one team has no 11.0)
  • TK at spawn
    and so on…

These are all in some way “little” problems. The problem is GJN isn’t willing to solve any of them, so they sum up to a point, were it isn’t fun for anyone.

I don’t fly battles with PL or high ping in the loading screen. The reason doesn’t matter, GJN can fill the team with late spawners.

The fact you can start a GRB match with your top tier jet and a Reserve tank is problematic.

Being able to spawn a Reserve tank in a top tier game is absurd.

Spawning a fast SPAA leads to the same effect.
But the root of this problem is a game design flaw. If you want to play air or heli, the game requires you to grind some more spawn points. The behavior would end, if the game would provide a smarter mechanism to allow for air access.

In arcade, I would bet on the better player. But aside from that, there is a weighing decision involved.
Which is worse:
A: Occasional troll squads in AB (the useless ones with biplanes)
B: excluding someone from his squad because he is grinding some task, nation or other in a lesser BR or wants to freeze a wager.

I wouldn’t know which happens more often.

For ships, it can’t be implemented. Top tier navy starts at BR 3.3 and goes up to 8.7. Reserves are at 3.3 too. To exclude reserves, you would have to exclude top tier too.

There are some ways to improve that, that’s for sure, but lets not forget cap rushers aren’t the only ones bringing low tier vehicles into top tier and fix for that might include some limitations.

That boils down to you prefering ODL over bringing in lower stuff (beginners only choice really).
I see the 5 free backups as a good idea to cut down on the need.

“Player choice”, this isn’t player choice. This is people actively griefing and engaging in behaviour that can lead to outright bans and suspensions. Including shooting at allies. It’s intended to be possible for this to occur by accident, for the sake of realism. These people are abusing this to shoot at allies intentionally.

Bringing in low tier stuff is more often than not a net negative for your team.
Chances of you doing something good aren’t that high when compared to chances of you getting killed, your team losing some tickets and enemies gaining some SP.

Squad players can always drop down to the lower level if need be - send crews to holiday and reload a lower BR vehicle.

There is no reason to squad someone up.

And I forgot to mention earlier - this would apply to Assault mode as well. Assault is hard enough as it is without some clown trolling the 8 other players with an m3 Stuart in a 6.3 BR Assault battle.

Yes it is but as I have said its at least debatable. For me this type of squad behavior in air RB is not even debatable.

That’s true.
In ARB doing that is extremely filthy and basically turns a game into a 13v16 right from the start.

@Perinvisus
Playing lower BR vehicles isn’t griefing. Banning players for doing nothing wrong is however griefing.

Shooting at allies has nothing to do with bringing lower BR vehicles nor meme squads.
Teamkilling is another issue, which is no surprise that you endorse teamkilling.

When everyone replying to me are pro-teamkilling, it makes me secure in my position.

@イリアス Here’s one of them, and they did this a few times.
Screenshot 2025-12-31 202524

Also @QTip_44 , air RB doesn’t have more than one spawn.

@MotorolaCRO Playing the game isn’t griefing. God Mode isn’t griefing.
These claims are no different than people claiming pistols should be removed from shooters because dying to pistols is griefing.

This is griefing… and 8 people endorsed this post that promotes griefing…
Some of these have argued to oppose griefing while supporting griefing…

Now I see why MotorolaCRO’s arguing that playing the game is griefing, they’re obfuscating what griefing is…

This quote from QTip starts to make sense.

You have a choice to stop teamkilling others at any time.
Just because someone’s in a vehicle you don’t like doesn’t mean you have the right to teamkill them.

Whaa! I died to an M22 in my R3 T20! This shouldn’t be possible. They have to be cheating!
L3/33 destroyed my T92! Dang griefer! I hope he gets teamkilled and griefed!
Swordfish destroyed my Alpha Jet! Why wasn’t he griefed and teamkilled for meme squading with his friend?
How could my teams ever lose to such teams that don’t grief and teamkill these players bringing lower BR vehicles?

So playing with your knife only in CS isn’t griefing either.
I invite you to try that and see how quickly you get kicked out of the server and reported for being a trash, griefer teammate.

Playing Reserve tier vehicles at top tier in ARB/GRB is griefing.

Applying Counter Strike’s toxic player moderation to War Thunder is not the play here.
No, playing the game with what you want isn’t griefing.

Out of all the things here, the only griefing mentioned was teamkilling, which you and others endorsed doing… at least when it favors you.

So I’m not taking your posts seriously when you were pro-griefing when it suits you.

War Thunder is not a hyper competitive game, it has a game mode for that: Tournaments.
But the game itself is not.

It’s more akin to Battlefield, which will let you bring WW2 weapons into modern fights.
All developers, even Valve, do not consider playing the game how you want griefing; and neither does the English language.
Player votes are not a representation of developers.

And I’ll keep opposing griefing.
I oppose teamkilling, I oppose ramming, I oppose all those things.

Edit: Motorola, my post here isn’t intended as an attack on you.
If you feel that way, I apologize.
My anger at the off-topic derailment [which you didn’t cause] of this topic about some dude bringing a lower BR vehicle turned into irrelevant teamkilling, ODLs in a game mode without multi-spawn, and so forth.

I still agree with you on most things, Motorola. If this is one of the things we disagree on, I’m okay with that reality.

So now it’s toxic to strive for balanced lobbies and games. Good to know.

It very much is if the game in question is team oriented.
You could also play football and only walk, but I doubt your team would be impressed with that to be honest.

I wasn’t endorsing TK.

I don’t think the word griefing means what you think it means.

I could personally agree that there should be some limitations to BR discrepancies in SOME game modes for squads entering the queue (like air RB, there it makes sense due to the one spawn mechanic). But bringing one lower BR vehicle with you into a match that has multiple spawns isn’t inherently griefing, especially not since there is intentional game design connected to doing so (god mode). You might want that award to be removed and for bringing lower BR vehicles to become griefing, but it currently isn’t.

From the OP…
“They were only there to shoot each other and damage team mates

So yeah, it IS part of the topic.

Maybe you should actually read the thread.

God Mode works in ARB as well.
It’s generally a really weird achievement to have in the game as it promotes extremely toxic and anti-team gameplay, which is absurd for a game that wants to be team oriented.

So a full squad spawning M22s at top tier, dying and leaving the game isn’t griefing.
Damn.
