Tornado ids assta1

Italy also had the Mk 101, at least according to their manuals

well what top tier cas can germany get till the eurofighter

Tornado IDS SLE with LaGS and HOSBO at a minimum.

Or a sub-nation like Britain got.

Britain, Germany, and Italy all had Mk 101 engines on their Tornados originally, that is all that was available when the first Tornados entered service. All Tornadoes built from Batch 4 onwards received Mk 103 engines from the factory, and IIRC at least some of the older aircraft got retrofitted with Mk 103s as well.

That is why it’s a bit unfair that the Tornado GR.1 was given Mk 101 engines while the German and Italian ones got Mk 103s. It seems to have been a completely arbitrary decision by Gaijin. Britain, Germany, and Italy all used Mk.101 engines originally, and all upgraded to Mk 103 engines later. Yet for some reason Britain is the only nation stuck with Mk 101s in game.

My comment was referring to how when the Tornado was first added the German Tornado IDS ASSTA1 was erroneously given Mk 105 engines (which it never used), while the Italian Tornado IDS had Mk 103 engines and the GR.1 had Mk 101s for some reason.

The reason they’ve given so far for the Gr1 having Mk101 is:

  • Tornado Gr4 was planned to come with the Mk103s
  • Tornado Gr1 isnt a specificly dated version whilst the ASSTA1 and A200A are.

But neither make any sense

That can explain about 90 % of Gaijin’s decision making.

I guess on release it was arbitrary but now the GR1 has the PGM and better bombs which more than makes up for it.

Nah it was due to the addition of the PGMs, which at least give it some standoff capability, the ASSTA 1 was not an amazing choice of addition since it limits possible armament to a new aircraft, whereas both italian and british variants can be modified as pleased by gaijin (with the A200C coming as a similar MLU modification I assume) although i reckon the GR.1 will be forgotten by gaijin in favour of the GR.4

also not sure if anyone knows the range of brimstone 3 but it is likely over the 60km of the brimstone 2 but i dont know if the germans have bought any brimstones other than the brimstone 3

Unless they add a Tornado with HARMs or experimental weaponry, the only possible options are foreign multiroles (and god forbid I offend them by saying this) like a Polish F-16C/D or Argentinian F-16A MLU (although I am not aware if it was exported with ground ordinance yet)

That is not the reason given recently

But PGMs mean absolutely nothing for ARB and it had Mk101 engines long before PGMs were reported and added. Also, does that mean the ASSTA1 will now get Mk101 engines because it has the JDAM?

Not that I am aware of, and it’s only being used on later Tranches of Eurofighter in the Luftwaffe

Who knows anymore, Gaijin is seemingly very spontaneous with their ‘balancing’ decisions rn

I dont think Brimstone 3 increases the range per se, but rather better battery and better support for surface to surface

In March 2019, MBDA successfully tested the latest Brimstone 3 version in Sweden, now including surface-to-surface firing, plus new hardware allowing future enhancements.[48] The upgrades included a new Internal measurement unit, enhanced autopilot, improved battery for an addition 30% engagement duration and a new improved multi-effect warhead that was Insensitive fully compliant with STANAG 4439.[18]

(wiki so take with a pinch of salt)

well the extra range might not matter to much given the render distance and the amount of games that are just low cloud cover

So the same way it could come with more upgrades in this mod?like when the day arrives in WT it could also receive its IRIS-T, AGM88s and its new cockpit?or we will only see it on the peak tornado SLE or 3.1?

All should get ARMs when they are added and not be something gate-kept behind the SLE/3.1

Pretty sure gaijin will keep them only for the top ones(brit/ita included) or the only for the ECR for more grind…

Would suck, GR1 used them quite a bit in Op Granby

xd

That’s not the reason they didnot give all the bombs
