This just depends on the era because France for a while doesn’t have anything besides the Mica as their main Fox 3, I think it can be buffed? But like, until the Meteor, the Russians have plenty of weapons that are better.

The main issue is just a lack of a better Fox 3 for a while, since the Mica is kinda mid in terms of range, atleast rn. Russia would probably get a better R-77 before the French get the Meteor.
Mica isnt correct right now, and the r77-1 isnt exactly amazing either, and there are other mica variants which are just great missiles
Atleast from what I know, there isn’t too many variants, but I could be wrong.
We’re a long, long, long way away from Meteor.
That’s like a truly endgame missile for when 5th Gens and the likes are here.

very far. Meteor is the best a2a missile pound for pound.
ER is ahistorical in the 9.12/9.13 airframes (they added it for “balance” and overcompensated), and R-73+ER like in the 29G makes it 13.0, which is the same br as the Flanker which can carry the same payload + 4 ERs
Mica ir. And you could add the upgraded seeker which would make it nigh invoulnerable to counter measures.

I wouldn’t mind a Mig-29 with R-73’s, R-27ER’s, a better flight model at 13.0, gets rid of the tradeoff of what radar missile you have. I’d do anything for a flight model buff, a br jump isn’t too bad
The IR will definitely be nasty, I wasn’t thinking of Fox 2’s.

Not to even mention the 200km or so launch range.
We’re going to need completely new, ultra large maps, with lots of verticality to break LOS before the game is ready for such missiles.
I think most of the European F-35 operators are planning eventual Meteor integration.

Oh I wasn’t referring to the R-77 specifically here. I was more thinking of planes like the new M2000-D who only carries MICA-IR IRL, or R73 already having the R73M upgrade since 1997 while the Su34 is much more recent.
Missiles introduction date don’t really matter IMO. Capabilities does, and as long as the missile could be reasonably used IRL I don’t see the problem in adding slightly unhistorical loadouts for the sake of balance.
Also I previously mentioned Su30SM, but I think Su35S or Su30MK would also be really good planes to bring russia a bit more up to par. Or maybe Mig29K to keep the continuity with the naval line after the Yak141 ?
