Top tier Britain in 2026

So im looking at these cool tanks that britain has especially in top tier and was wondering, is britain worth it for both ground and air? I currently have france grinded to the rafale and the leclerc S2 so i do have experience in top tier.
Sadly i couldnt find anything recent regarding the state of british top tier so thats why i ask here.
From what i did find it seems to play a bit slower then france which might be a good thing to learn new playstyles for me.

Long story short, god no.

For ground, your only real option is the Black Night and maybe the SEPv3 Abrams (not used it yet so can’t vouch for it). If you don’t like playing hull down, you’re fucked.

For air, the EF2K is the best western aircraft in the game. In theory. In practice, it’s impossible to control effectively at high altitudes, it’s air to ground ordnance is… Lackluster at best.

The F/A-18F is honestly more fun to me as it’s far more effective in a multirole capacity than the EF2K. It however struggles when it comes to ground saturation attacks (noticeable in Nuclear Escalation only tbh).

Not really top tier, but the one thing that makes me stick with the British tree (barring my Britishness) is the Tornado GR4. Absolutely wonderful strike aircraft - AIM-9Ms & HMD at 12.3 in addition to the sheer amount of ordnance is incredibly fun.

Honestly? Unless you really like the Tornado/Typhoon/F/A-18F/Challenger, it’s not worth the utter slog. US or Swedish tree would likely do you better. Had a lot of fun grinding out the Swedish tree thus far (currently trickling into 1980s jets) and the Gripen E absolutely dominates in GRB - and has the same radar advantage as the EF2K. Whilst I’ve never used it, I don’t think I’ve ever seen somebody whiff CAS with the Gripen E.

Top tier Brittain right now is artificially nerfed to serve some narratives.
ARB top tier good… However, its still a spamraam fest
GRB top tier 10.7-12.7 → totally fictional balance, you would get boring for like an hour or two.
GRB top tier CAS … Gimped CAS capabilities → you only have FnF glide bombs and lazer brimstones.

TLDR: To have a decent UK GRB experience you have to grind for a full brittain line up with about 8 crew slots includes tank, plane, spaa, heli → That’s a fucking un-fun grind if you ask me.

Britain ground top BR is strong right now.
M1A2 SEP V3, BMPT immune Challenger 2s, Chally 2E & Black Night as options.
M1A1 AIM squadron vehicle in time.

Good tanks for close to medium range engagements.
Chally’s aren’t as good as M1A2 SEP V3, but no tank in War Thunder is… though Strv 122 comes close now that it has DM53.

Love Britain.

Before patch? It was mediocre to decent as usual, Britain’s CR2s has always been known for having a reasonably sturdy frontal armor, the Black Night’s APS being one of the best in the entire game, and the variants w/Dorchester are—still—playable enough to deal with BMPTs.

The problem comes with… turret baskets. I’d rather play an Ariete blindfolded instead of having to bear yet another nation with baskets, another underestimated virtue of Challengers prior to this patch.

Baskets as modelled, breakable modules were a mistake, they turned top tier into a repair simulator and an unpleasant experience once you survive a hit (if you manage to in the first place), let alone there’s a couple nations that still don’t have any sort of basket (or expanded vertical/horizontal like the rest).

And I won’t even start on how unreliable L27A1 becomes against ERA of nearly any nation, not only Relikt.

Typhoon is very solid, but Gaijin keep it artificially nerfed, they do much the same for the rest of our line up too (harrier, Tonka, etc)

Ground is especially poor though, Gaijin believe any bug report that buffs the challenger 2 to be a marketing lies and rejects them all. So the CR2s are nerfed as hell.

Sky Sabre is also currently broken.

We also lack a top tier AFV.

Gaijins solution rather than fixing any bug reports was to C&P an Abrams.

TLDR, air is fine, biggest issue is compression at the moment, though they need to stop arfiically nerfing a lot of things.

Ground stops at 10.3/10.7

😂

It’s always funny reading your comments on anything, but be honest, do you mean these jokes you write 90% of the time? They are absolutely hilarious, I’ll tell you that.

the Challenger 2 series are among the weakest top tier tanks, and the ground tree is overall rather weak, apart from the M1A2 sep v3 that was added last update (compare to M1A2T for china)
air is ok, the Typhoon is more than capable and you get a decent mix of aircraft to choose from, most of which I find relatively enjoyable to fly
CAS is again decent, can’t speak for helicopters, and the AA is overall good enough
Hopefully they’ll fix some issues on the challenger 2, as there are many outstanding reports currently

the most wild thing here is someone going from France to UK

did you not suffer from AP only enough or smthin?

Facts are not a joking matter.
The only threat among that group of vehicles was the T-80B… a minor threat.

Air is the only thing worthy to grind with lots of potential in the future.

Indian rafale and Su30 When Gaijin?

Play it if you want to and like the look of the vehicles it’s your decision but it is kind of fun

What’s up with the Sky Sabre?

Like… Everything

The CAMM-ERs have half the range they should

The Datalink on them currently is disabled

CAMM and CAMM-ERs have about half the agility they should

They both miss everything, making hitting a jet unreliable, let alone munitions.

You should be able to fire and guide 1 missile with the radar disabled, you cannot even fire.

You’ve also got the ARH nerfs when fighting helis.

Etc etc etc

Was it changed since release? I recall making several 180 degree kills with the CAMMs when it first dropped.

But yeah I see what you mean now. They’re definitely unreliable, especially when I compare it to the ADATS or anything of that ilk. Honestly don’t play enough other trees to be sure (bought the VIDAR on sale a year ago and only played 4 games in it lmao)

@Morvran I can smell a premium rafale from 8 blocks away.

Might aswell get thsoe down first you know XD

Black Night - Pretty good
Challenger 2E - Solid
New Abrams - Very good
Apache E - Pretty good
Eurofighters - Very good

Thats about it.
Spaa is medicore and there are no good light tanks to support the lineup.

grb is completely gone right now for uk 12.7. youre gonna be using the new abrams mostly and the black night for its niche. someone told me the m1a1 12.0 squad vehicle in the uk doesnt totally powercreep the challenger 2e. i looked at it again the only things the 2e has over the m1a1 as something slightly meaningful is the gen 2 thermal commander sights, and the turret cheeks are better a bit. the fuckin ke-w stock round is better than l27a1 at 12.0 its hilarious. the 3td is bottom 3 challengers and the tes is one of my better tanks these days due to the bmpt. the challengers after the patch have been turned into an un-unique vehicle in war thunder that is totally powercrept by literally any other mbt. even the ariete is faster and has dm53. there is no good light tank for 12.7, if they added the ajax with missiles then that would be a good addition. for tank destroyers there is no 12.7 option however you do have access to the zt3a2 which in the right hands makes a very powerful tank at top tier. for spaa you have the sky sabre, i would argue that the sky sabre is the second best nato spaa after the german iris t if you can work around its bugs and undermodelling.

tldr if that was too long to read the uk has just become an extension of america with a somewhat working spaa. the best battle rating for britain right now is either 10.3 to avoid the bmpt or 10.7 if youre feeling brave

Damn, 22. 4. 2026, do you normally keep screenshots of good games to use in arguments?
