Kinda agree since alot of War Thunder players dont really have good rigs (me for example.) Some dots render at a distance sure, but some don’t. And the game is unreliable enough that the dot doesn’t even render until we’re close.
Edit:
I’m not against the idea, but implementing this IN the current landscape of 16v16’s and unreliable teams that don’t communicate enough? I might as well make mock dogfights in Kerbal Space Program lol.
Well it is a needed mode or perma event…
I’d dare to say new mode , only for over 10.0 BR or something, where planes in general have radar and possibly with its own BR range that takes on account radar as well.
Having good radar in reality is a big thing. Maybe one of the most import things in air combat.
Implementing this in 16vs16 actually will reduce the amount of chaos happening right now in arb where everyone flocks to spotted enemy like sharks and launch missiles from all directions even from 20km+ simply because they see red tag.
It will also add depth to gameplay incentivizing players to play in team more often and use pings or radio commands.
Not rendering red missile tag is also implied in post.
In top tier jets you already have signals/notifications about being locked by radar or incoming missile + most missiles have smoke trail. But yes it will make game a bit more difficult and will require more environment attention from players.
It would be nice if current 3rd person rwr display got reworked to display a bit more info, like missile direction and distance instead of red tag.
It would just change the meta or how its played entirely, certain playstyles/planes would benefit from it. You wouldn’t have to climb every single match to outerspace since everyone has tabs on everyone and energy is the only thing that matters because there is no such thing as suprise.
Even having a good rig doesn’t help with the render distance. The render distance in the game has been broken for a long time, where dots can disappear and reappear at random. Back then, I supported the removal of markers as the render distance was reliable, I cannot say the same now.
For distance markers to be removed, you would need to fix the how dots render as well as reduce the matches from 16v16 to 12v12 maximum
I wish that is the case, there’s a higher likelihood of creating “trains” where each enemy and teammate pile up on a furball since that’s where the battle is happening.
War Thunder players will claw and maul you if it meant getting a kill or a higher score. In a sense, good players will be more wary and communicate with their teams (whoever does listen), while bad players will take their gloves off and just bomb, kill a low flying bomber/attacker, furball repeat. It’s a double-edged sword, it intensifies both good and bad aspects of the already rotten core of ARB.
War Thunder may act like its an team-based game, but ostensibly it doesn’t do much more than give you some slight bit of SL for working together.
