Tools using data provided on port 8111

What are you trying to prove → that’s not LEGAL

Point, Basta, End, Fin, Finito, Pungkasan, Owari ,… ect.

Not knowing isn’t the same as being unable to.

EDIT: How many people know that you can J out on the AF and be rearmed without waiting if your plane is undamaged? Is it unfair to do it because a lot of people don’t know about it?

I am all for removing the webserver at port 8111 btw. But as long as it’s there anyone should be able to use it however they like

Oh yes. For sure. But I think this opens a bit of a can of worms into how the data can and has potentially been used and abused in more than just Sim.

Things like using map data to automate situational awareness that normally requires players to look around. Potentially assisting with ratefights by helping hit the optimal AoA for a given speed/altitude. There’s a lot of potential for abuse with the current dataset that whilst publicly WTRTI is the most known about, who knows what others have created.

This is why if it has to stay (because I do see its valid uses - especially for things like simpits with custom screens, using secondary monitors for maps etc. in battle in sim) I would prefer that for random battles there are restrictions/approvals to ensure that the tools do not abuse this data. Perhaps even have a section on WT live for players to search for and download these tools if they want to would be amazing to make approved uses more accessible for players.

There was at least a devblog talking about this

About what?

it depends on your definition of markers I guess. As far as I recall, it’s not actually marking a unit like what Air RB / Arcade marks units. It doesn’t put a bounding box around them, or highlight and track them exactly. It just puts a basic icon on the screen showing direction (and distance I think) to travel to get to it. (edit: not players, but objectives, bases etc). similar to little carrot tops on a compass heading of huds. And it was basic, as it was just center of screen and didn’t work with actual viewing angle.

The J out thing. Or it was a mention in an update note

No,… again,…
You’re liking is against rules.

If we consider that your PoV become true

Shall i create to myself an automated tool that will calculate best path to win any dogfight?

Then using in e-sport competition to kill all the fun and win over everyone?

Stop the abuse man,…

I don’t really see how a direct overlay of just direction and distance is substantially different to a second monitor constantly showing the gaijin provided map showing your direction and a distance (through grid squares) to the things visible on the map.

Clearly because no look around the second screen, and a map is not as precise

Is it allowed to drive faster than indicated on the highway, based on the fact that everybody can do so?

And why don’t they take away the car’s capability to drive faster than allowed (although this one admittedly is a very far stretch if it comes to analogies, hehe).

It’s a bad analogy because it’s not allowed. There is police to stop you, and it’s clearly stated that you cannot speed. This seems closer to actual cheating in video games to me than what we here

Anyway do what you want, I am not going to waste more time here.

What you want is basically allowing to cheat through LH 8111

And it’s clearly stated in the rules that you can’t do this…

6.1.3 Installing or using unauthorised modifications to the game client, using cheats or other software or devices that modify the game process and/or the original game generated images (including modifying the game interface) to gain an advantage in the game without express authorisation from Gaijin.

Depending on where you live, things like that have been done with limiters etc. Reasonable restrictions to prevent abuse of a system.

I’m basically advocating for the opposite of seventeen, and more in line with the speed limiters - I don’t think that anyone should be able to just do what they want essentially with localhost data in random battles at all (and in fact I’d love more to be visible in game), instead wanting it restricted to approved apps/implementations as a reasonable restriction to prevent abuse. This sort of thing could be lifted for custom battles and test flights, and removes any grey area that might exist around these type of vague/interpretation of rules.

As I’ve said before, this one user created this marker thing themselves and posted about it - but how many may be doing similar stuff and just not talking about it? As it’s not injecting code into the game files and just consuming data and a local endpoint, AFAIK it is incredibly difficult if not impossible to interpret how this data is being used. By restricting it’s use in Random battles to approved apps only, you immediately have some surety that the integrity of the game systems are not being violated by these tools.

How many times do I have to say that this tool doesn’t break any of those rules…

Did you read the last part?

It’s literally modifying the game interface, and there was no authorisation from Gaijin
