Or, maybe a bit more provocative:
If this script is not giving you an unfair advantage, then why are you so set on defending it?
If it offers no advantage, well, you have nothing to use if you don’t have it, no?

knowing informations on your plane has less impact than knowing where the objectives are
It’s giving you an advantage for sure, but I wouldn’t say it’s unfair. Anyone can use this data as they please, that’s why it’s exposed.
I am defending it because I think it’s unfair that some overlays are given a pass and others aren’t.
Except objectives are shown on the ingame map, while AoA isn’t. I would consider AoA displays much more unfair powerfull that this compass for objectives.
I’m sorry but I don’t see how having the AoA indication will change your game for the most part, here we’re talking about an addon that allows you to better manage your navigation on the map, avoid areas with the most powerful DCAs and target the bases without tiring
moreover the indications on the in-game map are much less precise because the scale is not the same
Because managing your AoA wins you dogfights. Just look at the pro sim scene, they all use WTRTI for AoA and that elevator trimming trick to get more perfomance out of their planes
Yeah, I’ve yet to get into a situation where I need to rely on an AOA indexer. Finding ground targets however is one of the main tasks in most of the matches I play in Sim EC…
maybe it’s because they are pro, the majority of sim players (myself included) do not have the game knowledge and skills necessary to manage a dogfight and check their AoA
checking the AoA will happen 2 to 3 times per game while ground targets can be almost constant
I am all for making War Thunder more fair, don’t get me wrong. I am defending this because it’s not really clear what’s allowed and what isn’t. I would like to see this info removed from sim, if it goes against the rules of sim. But you got to understand, this is a video game. Even worse, a competitive game. People will look for any advantage they can get. It’s just the nature of these thing. Banning this is like FIA banning all of those innovative designs from F1. They didn’t like someone made something better with the same resources, so they banned it.
so don’t defend either of them
I wanted to make an overlay that shows direction and distance to enemy helipads, information that is crucial in SQB. I was under the impression that this was allowed, using data at port 8111 and an overlay.
I also wanted to make one so that people can draw arrows on their minimaps, like in WoT with XVM.
It’s a competitive game, everyone is looking for an edge over their opponents.
To me, if a game gives me some info, leaving it on the table just leaves me a the disadvantage, because the enemy might be using it.
my bank has money in its coffers I’m going to rob it tomorrow, it is not because information is available that we must necessarily use it
Ok, so :
1.Game sends packets to LH8111, given available to users for testing purposes, and creation of accurate bug reports.
2.You read those Packets to add Overlay of Userinterface over your screen, through a series of coded lines (basically a program)
3.The overlay is giving pinpoint information on everyone in game, or within a frontal sector defined by the program, that the game doesn’t give to every other players not using your Overlay.
In such we have :
3rd party software that is giving an unfair amount of information that everyone else can’t have unless they have done same or similar use of 3rd party software.
That’s everything rules are against.
Bad analogy, it’s not like that money is sitting on the table with a sign that says “Free to take, no strings attached”
Coming from the guy comparing it to the Formula 1 constructors championship…
if, robbing the bank will require effort and unless I’m mistaken the additional information on the screen does not appear by magic, you have to create a functional code by looking at what data to take
Tech mods said that datamines and data obtained with WTRTI and through port 8111 can’t be used in bug reports.
This is simply false, this is not what this tools did at all.
Deducing the enemies location with sound doesn’t “appear on the screen by magic”, you have to think to get it
Then what’s that:
You should read what was written,…
