The rambling about J7W1 of a very clearly not sane person

This is just a list of almost every plane within BR range that outperforms it in some way based on their in game stat cards, which aren’t 100% accurate due to variables like alt, speed, G force, etc but still. I am mainly counting for turn rate, climb rate and/or flat speed, as you aren’t always going to be able to BnZ. I also have heard that the J7W performs fairly well in air SB but I am not a sim player.

With what videos I’ve seen and other forum posts I’ve read, the change to bullet spread, damage, and velocity, it completely ruined the one thing this plane had going for it, from what I’ve been able to find, it had a velocity of around 900 M/S, great damage, and little spread, which allowed it to click people back to the hanger from over 1 KM away, which made up for the lack of other stuff.

From what testing I’ve done, using full real/realistic controls does fix some of the problem of turn rate at least somewhat, but without a flight stick, effectively using those two are extremely annoying and most definitely not worth learning due to a single plane. And without it, the only planes it can effectively protect it’s self against in a dogfight are some early jets.

As of right now, the only real purpose this plane serves is CAS, as the 30 MMs can at least pen tanks and rip apart SPAA.

In my personal opinion, while this plane def can be used as a BnZ opportunity plane it still does worse than others for that purpose. it should either,

  1. Lower BR. 2. given an air spawn, or 3. outright removed from the tech tree.

i’d say the second option, J7W1 with and airspawn could finally meet opponents at least equal alt

That would be the best and likely easiest option, it would at least allow it to get to bomber height before you get swarmed by P-51s or out turned by a spitfire.

NP.
But a small advice: Eating and then going to sleep is the worst strategy for having a good sleep. It boils down that your metabolism is busy with digesting your food and prevents your body from having a relaxing sleep.

Regarding the J7W1:
There are dozens of threads dealing with the missing interceptor air spawn (like for many other JP aircraft) and you will also find complaints about the nerf of the 30mm cannons a while ago.

I flew it years ago on my old but inactive account (Air RB with a Hotas, SFC and disabled instructor) but i stopped it after spading as it requires head-ons as main strategy - and i don’t perform head-ons in general as my opponents with mouse aim have a significant aiming and accuracy advantage. The agility of the aircraft at higher speeds was ok, but it is basically the equivalent of a very slow P-47 without flaps.

Based on the several hundred matches i fought at this BR range it looks like the BR 6.0 is just the result of good JP teams and better than average pilots. In other words: The BR won’t go down as long as not a hell of rookies use them - and these rookies stay away from it due to the underwhelming performance.

I saw a lot of them whilst flying the 262 A-2a coming in late game (often squadded) cleaning up low jets and props in one pass; most of them were highly experienced pilots…

I didn’t eat and immediately go to sleep dw, I just ate and spent some time on a model kit before sleeping.

I’m aware of the other threads, hard to not know when despite how it performs it still being tied for first as my fav prop plane, and yeah, head ons are one of the few ways it can do anything well, but from my experience they aren’t worth doing due to scatter and the armor of the plane (like most other jap planes) being equal to a pillow getting hit by a firing squad.

And yeah, almost everyone agrees that the BR range of it is where it is due to the few people who actual fly it, given enough time to know the cannons you can def do well, but for most people, esp newer players, the plane isn’t worth it so they either avoid it, or play a couple matches and hate it.

On my older account that I got rid of (I took a long break and wanted to start fresh), I had gotten to rank 4 and 5 on a couple nations, forgot the other one but the main was france and honestly, I never once saw it, or if it was in my match it prob died early on and I didn’t see.

I can’t imagine the usage of it is high, I wouldn’t be shocked if most premiums have more. it’s shocking that gaijin hasn’t done more to it with how they got rid of the R2Y.

I highly thought much of anything will happen to it, and I still intend to play it despite my annoyance. At least it’ll do well on CAS when I reach 6.3 ground.

I’m still new to using the forum so I don’t really know how to quote stuff, so sorry if my messages look like a jumbled mess.

I only use J7W1 for cas. Its only good in headons in air. I’ve like won a couple turnfights because my opponents were stupid.
I’ve always wanted to fly it ever since I watched The Princess and The Pilot. It’s sad to see it in this state.

In my experience and even just looking at stat cards and the wiki, it performs well in turn fights against some early jets, mainly the He 162, me 262 and su 9, otherwise the only other good option is to just put some cannons shots into slow or distracted people.

I mainly fly it cuz I like canard props, I would use the XP 55 but I don’t have the money to drop on a premium.

Also interesting looking anime, I’ll have to take a look at it later.

Thing just got a bit better, because Gaijin accidentaly made 3/4 of maps all-airspawn, so bad climb is a bit less of an issue now (you can get to the altitudes where nobody will venture in reasonable time if you want, even if people still outclimb you, also your higher alt performance plays a bigger role).

Now Ta-152H sucks major 4rse because everyone outclimbs it by a mile. Including J7W. But unlike J7W, Ta is really slow and can’t hope to win any head-on.

Thing about everyone getting an air spawn is that, if everyone gets one, it lowers the usefulness of it, and the air spawn on those maps are ahead of the air field while, as everyone knows or should know, an interceptor spawn is a little bit behind it, around I’d say 300 or so meters, and it doesn’t solve the problem much since not every map has an air spawn. In my experience it’s about a 1:4 ratio of getting one with it and without. The high alt performance doesn’t matter much if people dive out of the area, a high alt game can turn low alt fairly quick. (Which is prob why it does well in sim)

I don’t see Ta-152s much, and like I said at the start, I put the planes in the list based on the in game/wiki stat cards, which does put the H-1 above it, as the listed turn time is 22.3 seconds, rate of climb is 14.3, max alt is 14.3k and it does have the air spawn unlike the J7W, the head on performance doesn’t seem like it would be the best based on the guns but it is still something considering how fragile jap planes are, if one of the 30 mm or a couple of the 20m rounds hit it’s mostly over, unless it doesn’t hit a good spot, which is hard to do, cuz again, how fragile jap planes are most of the time.

Have you read my post,? Now we have a ton more airspawning maps since gaijin broke something. J7W is now in much better position…
Wiki stats ae all lies.

Last time i flew J7W, i got intercepted while climbing by YaK-3U and F-8F. Shinden is one bad aircraft as for today…

It is not perfect. But on all-airspawn maps you can get to altitudes where you are actually faster than 3U.
On non-airspawn maps J7W is toast.

Lets face it, getting intercepted by 3U is the general experience around 6.0.
Yes, Reggiane and Mk IX dogfight a bit better (3U can deal with them at low alt quite well, though), but 3U is much faster than either, which is the real issue, as it removes all options from many planes.
In F2G and F4U4B you can at least run. Though, seriously, this sucks as a tactic.

Lifehack: Just remove all but one 30mm and the plane automatically becomes much better, because why have four 30mm cannons when one is all you need against any target 😂

I’m not gonna fight on the wiki stat part, most of the time they aren’t accurate but it does give a general sense of what the plane has. It’s not like I have most other nations progged into the 6.0 range, so I can’t really go on those and physically test them myself at different alts. I would if I could and I likely will eventually but not for awhile.

On the note of air spawns, yeah at least it is in a slightly better spot, but if it was due to gaijin breaking something, if they fix it and it goes back to how it was before, the J7W just reverts to the worse state it was in, the original point of this post was to talk about what would be a better permanent solution that affects non air spawn maps as well. The list of aircraft I put was to mostly show how outperformed it is in relation to the option of it’s BR being lowered.

I honestly haven’t seen many 3Us so I don’t really have an opinion on them, but that’s prob cuz most of the time I go against USSR is during uptiers.
And yeah, diving to run away does suck as an option since it only solves it temporarily, esp if they don’t follow you and just hold their alt.

3U happens every battle basically. From distance they are named “Yak-3”, you get the “U” only at closer distance.
They are very popular and extremely deadly.

That’s prob why then, I try to stay away from Yaks as best I can unless I’m already above them.

doesnt the “U” instantly show up with the name?
it did the last time ive played at 5.7
but it doesnt rlly matter as two(yak3u and yak3vk) out of the three(yak3u, yak3p and yak3vk) yak3 variants that you will face near 5.7 are very good

Maybe… Now will have to reconsider.
But I think it does not. I just try to kill anything labelled Yak-3 first as these are by far the biggest threats. In Do-335 B2, Yak-3U is the toughest target, as it’s super small, super durable and can fly fine without a wing, and can make it back to AF without both wings actually.
