The R-77 'ADDER' - History, Design, Performance & Discussion

Okay, okay, you convinced me lol

Yep, I think it didn’t provide datalink ofc, but it was an interesting way to fire in “stealth” mode

Launching missile with radar single target track, then switching to IRST “suspends” datalink - missile loses IOG updates, but aircraft doesn’t break datalink with the missile, as showcased by vertical line above radar/IRST contact. The moment you switch from IRST to radar lock, datalink is restored and updates missile IOG

with the glitch it did provide datalink while on irst lock

Yeah providing dl through irst is completely nonsense lol, glad they removed it

RVV-SD (R-77-1) should have a target acquisition range of 18 km according to its product sheet.
Presumably against a 5m^2 target.

are we sure this is R-77M seeker? its stats is worse than R-77-1 seeker dawg
also only 100mm diameter?, R-77-1 seeker is 200mm

really? how?

multiple versions, but idk, it’s not confirmed. It’s just what most sites list it as r-77m seekerhead as it’s the only aesa seekerhead that would realistically fit on r-77m, the other aesa seekerhead is most likely for izd 810

R-77-1 seeker, 20km against 5m2 target
R-77 seeker does 16km against 5m2 target

this seeker does (4th root(5m2/0.003m2))*2km = 12.78km against 5m2 target

that was one of the prototypes of the entire family, those seekers are meant to be upscaled and downscaled according to requirements

Problem with 9B-1103M is that it went trough bunch of modifications without change in designation. R-77M might have 9B-1103M but it is not necessarily this specific version of 9B-1103M that is shown. There is also a matter of 9B-1103M-150, 9B-1103M-200 and 9B-1103M-350 family and not concrete info of how exactly the family tree of those seekers look and if they are even used or not by domestic Russian missiles or only installed into export versions
