TY-90s are still absolutely cracked, I’ve seen people shamelessly fly with these to spawn camp airfields. Stingers, even if buffed, would still be inferior.
You don’t need any more than 8 at a time to be honest.
This would also affect the LAV-AD and other SPAAs with stingers.
Maybe those would go up in BR?
They’re inferior to Vikhirs in both range and speed. You’d be better off using the JAGM SALs.
They aren’t as good as they once were, but yes.
Though any skilled pilot at Top Tier can avoid them as long as they know it’s coming (or they can even just pre-flare them accidentally)
Yeah I see that happening on that map constantly.
Poor map design if you ask me.
Agreed.
so 2 pylons for them, or all 4 pylons of stingers
for self defense you can get by with a pylon of ty90, and be much more protected then a pylon of stingers, even if they get fixed
I mean, no harm in letting them take 12 or 16 TY-90s (4 pylons) tbh.
At that point they just become a mobile IRCCM Strela at 11.7 / 12.0 (with no contrast mode).
Well if they get fixed, it seems like they’d have similar capabilities as TY-90s. Though ATAS (FIM-92E from what I understand) doesn’t get proxy, while TY-90s do.
I mean, due to them not having an attached spawn point cost it lets them first spawn a very good AA platform that can hide between the plane spawn and battlefield
that is purely gaijin BS, the last stingers without proxy should have mostly aged out of inventory and expired before platforms like 64D and 64E entered service
Yes – basically a good 11.7 - 12.0 SPAA just because of surprise
Though once the surprise is gone, and there’s nowhere to hide, the Z-10 / Z-10ME is pretty easy to kill.
I agree.
I think they should add stingers with proxy and 22G overload for the Apache E and maybe the D.
All other ones can be stingers without proxy but still have the 22G overload limit.
They’d of course need to increase the BRs of some of the helicopters, while decreasing others.
(I think AH-6M and OH-58D would have to go to 10.7, for example, and AH-1Z to 11.3, while YAH-64 to 11.0).
would they? theres already a heli with 4 TY90 at 10.3 and OH-58 only gets 4 stingers, also AH-6 doesnt even get stingers in game.
idk about YAH but AH-1Z is currently overtired
alternatively AH-1Z could get SAL JAGM and AIM-9X (up to 6) and stay at its current BR, they could even add DAIRCM for it to give it LDIRCM in game
With those proposed buffs from tripod, Stinger slingers like LAV-AD would definitely need to go up in BR.
I guess that’s nothing new in WT.
Well, I also thought about that.
Z-9W exists at 10.3 and can carry 4x TY-90s.
However, it gets no thermals, no IRST tracking, and the missiles are much worse in most circumstances than hellfires. Though the Z-9W gets zoom at least.

My bad. The Little Bird can stay 10.3.
So I think it would make sense that the OH-58D would go up to 10.7.
The G-LYNX would also probably have to move up to 11.0.
Well think about it.
The Mangusta (AH-129CBT) is 11.0 and gets access to countermeasures and 4x (22G) Stingers.
The YAH-64 would also be 11.0, gets twice the number of hellfires, and much better zoom / thermals, but doesn’t get access to Stingers nor countermeasures.
I think that’s relatively balanced.
100% Agreed.
That would probably bump it up to 12.3, maybe 12.7 (may be better than the AH-64E tbh since it (from what I understand) doesn’t get access to AIM-9X).
I have a suggestion pending to add a separate spawn for Multi-Vehicle SAM systems to somewhere near the 2nd helipad, hopefully to avoid worrying about the ground-based threat of spawncamping/crossmap HE and what not, and it allows the SAMs to focus on dealing with aerial threats like they should be. Plus it takes the CAS pressure off of ground units for a while because the CAS elements will be focused on a specific area that’s located away from the ground map
My problem with that is that ground would then have little to no capabilities of helping their air out by killing enemy unguarded SPAAs.
Plus helicopters and planes can work around the fact that they are near the 2nd helipad on many maps that have hills / mountains.
I mean it’s nothing set in stone, but a good chunk of SAM gameplay is reliant on a map with a well covered spawn (only about 10% of the map rotation rn) and I think modern CAS is more than capable of dealing with the new spaa, I have a 3-1 K/D against ground targets in the new Sufa for example, so ground units shouldn’t be able to interact with defenseless SAM systems imho
There’s still this problem.
Looks like a decent idea to separate AAs from other ground units, but that definitely has some drawbacks attached to it and probably a lot of things would need to be changed gameplay/balance wise to even test it out properly.
Which hopefully people can suggest answers to when the suggestion goes live, as i’ll try to isolate discussion there.
It’ll have to be done individually to each map in order to find the optimal location, possibly altering some terrain to benefit the SAMs, but I don’t want to dump too much in gaijin’s lap
I think only multi sams should have that since other SAMs don’t have to move multiple vehicles out of the way, and SACLOS SPAAs can still kill light tanks, other SPAAs, and MBTs (lol).
Yeah a major part of my reasoning there is that all other SPAA have some utility (even IR ones can cap points and even kill a tank if lucky), while the multi-vehicles exclusively are defenseless
It depends actually.
Some IR SAMs like Type 93, Strela or Type 81 have no means to kill enemy tanks.
