That planes with a battle rating as low as 9.7 can face this AA is ridiculous. Many planes at this battle rating are subsonic and most of the 10.7 planes can’t even carry any countermeasures. Yet they have to face an AA which 14.3 planes very often can’t even evade.
A player shouldn’t get the chance to retreat to a 100% safe space if they do mistakes or just don’t want to fight. How should a player learn if they only escape engagements, when having engagements is the key gameplay of War Thunder?
It only rewards running away and letting others do the job for them, like players often do when they buy their way to top tier with pack premiums, although they have no experience at that tier and get overwhelmed. Creating a safespace never brings them to learn however.
I understand the desire for some protection at airfields, where the Roland was perfect at. They protect the landed pilot, yet aren’t impossible to dodge for the incoming enemy.
The high tier airfield AA should be changed entirely back to the Roland again, or for the BR brackets from 10.7 to 13.7 at least.
He should be able to get safe for our game usually offers bad teams, but the team should lose in this way.
Mw that would be not enough
A ww2 style 3km death zone would be more efficient, while providing a smaller safe zone for restricting turning.
While I’ll still advocate immortal runways. Stay = lose & take off = unprotected
It’s definitely overkill for BRs where the Roland 1 could keep spawncampers.
At higher BRs, in theory I like that it forces players to set up an ambush, actually letting the person who needed to rearm get back in the air, even if they’ll be in a lower energy state than the spawncamper(s).
The problem is when it’s the last person who landed, and they don’t take back off again and just wait to be declared inactive so they can survive even though they lost. This was always a problem, but now it’s a little easier to land while being pursued in the first place.
i honestly think its fine you shouldnt be chasing someone at there airfield u should be ground pounding till they take off for a ticket gap rarely do i see airfield campers at toptier 90% they land to either J out or re arm
Can you still just approach really low?
You are not supposed to. That’s the whole point.
yeah had a AMX launch one of its missile on runway while flying low it some how locked even though i had no fuel mid flight so i glided home and flared before i landed so it had zero reason to hit but SPAA never fired a single shot
Do the AF AA’s respawn
yeah
They should remove that. ARB at least isn’t supposed to have respawns
No I think not
so one plane could just take mavericks and whipe out airfields ?
I thought there were more than six?
There are 9 of them I think, mavericks might get you killed, depending on the map and your targeting camera
its a split of gun AA veaks and ITQs
would like a better SPAA system for higher tiers like PANTSIR S1 or IRST or something so you cant just get domed by some guy flying low to the ground
The problem is that if you remove the SPAA rather then hiding at their own airfield, those same players skirt around the side of the map and loiter at the enemy airfield and just camp there waiting to kill players that are re-arming or repairing. I have heard the arguments of “well learn to aim so you don’t run out of ammo” or “git good so you don’t take damage” which IMO are stupid arguments but regardless, just because someone wasn’t skilled enough to avoid damage fighting someone else, dose that mean they deserve to be killed on the runway by someone that has so little skill they resort to vulturing the runway? or is just a sweat trying to pad their K/D?
It a catch 22, no SPAA scummy players camp the airfield, add SPAA scummy players camp in the airfield.
I’d rather have a player who hasnt played his cards correctly die landing than having to wait for him to leave the 20KM DIAMETER death zone (they never do).
The solution is to just disable AF AA when a plane is not on the airfield, and only enable it when a plane has landed on the airfield, and for 2 minutes after it takes off, with a 5 minute cooldown between it being turned on again.
they also gave air fields strelas for close range
20g highly maneuverable with stinger type irccm
