The F-86 F-40 is the peak of staleness

The F-40 is not an A-5

It is a F-30 retrofitted with AIM-9B

That is literally the only difference.

It also has an entirely different wing including but not limited to adding wing slats.

Ah, my bad.

welp, i prefer to keep my speed and try the overshoot than falling for an energy trap and let him kill me the worst possible way, giving yourself a 5-95% chance to win (5% for you, because sometimes ennemies are dumbs, trying to energy trap with low initial speed)

keeping your speed gives other choices, you can:
extend away and try to reset things out in your choice “form of rate-fight” → 60-40%
dive down to make him go into airflow compression (reducing his ability to aim at you, when he’ll chase you down, due to higher speed) → giving you time, and sometimes he’ll break away because of the ground → 65-35%
face him up when he’ll dive on you (ending up in a head-on after he tried to energy trap you) → 50-50%
Force an overshoot and give the AIM-9B’s to force him to use energy → 70-30%

it’s clearly better to know when to stop a chase, and evaluate strengths of everyone.
Su-7B will never beat an F-86 in a rate fight (1circle)
Su-7B will beat F-86 in energy fight
Su-7B will have a hard time to get guns on if the F-86 know how & when to roll

also, many players with Mach1+/2+ aircrafts tends to see non-mach1+/2+ aircrafts like easy preys because of there speed advantage, but forgets about the rest.

just one, i hate this ugly creature existing

Yes all jets are in a bad BR but moving it down to 8.3 like you implied in a different post is not the answer. Having a Sabre with aim 9B at the same BR as the Sea Hawk, Cougar and other similar aircraft makes even less sense. The A5 is already undertiered AF fighting 262’s lmao.

TLDR compression for sabres and 2025 player skill issues on early supersonics

You mean F-40 is better in every single regard except carrying 2 less missiles

that’s untrue,…

but let’s take a look at both Mig-17 and G.91R4 turn rates, on the deck:

as demonstrated, Mig-17A have a similar instantaneous turn rate, but fail to rate fight the F-86F40
G.91R4 is under both aircraft in every scenarios

the turn radius is in favor F-86F40

at medium altitude (4000m):

F-86F40 beats both instantaneous and Rate Turns
MiG-17 and G.91R4 are somewhat similar in instantaneous (average) but MiG-17 is better than G.91R4 in rate fight

the turn radius is in favor F-86F40

at high altitude (8000m):

F-86F40 beats both in instantaneous turn rates, but can’t rate fight Mig-17 in high altitude, as the F-86F40 engine doesn’t provides as much thrust than MiG-17

G.91R4 is obviously beaten by Mig-17 in rate fights, and only keeps a fair average performance to MiG-17 in instantaneous turn rate
the turn radius is in favor F-86F40

as we all know, most dogfights are done under 6000m in WT, which translates in :
F-86F40 beats all the aircrafts you’ve given us as better than it.

Yea its mid but not the worst. The AIM-9Bs might be dogshit but that amount of ammo is godsend honestly lol

Mog15bis ish at 8.0 lol

MiG-15bis is 8.3

the MiG-15 Early is 8.0

Fairly sure the bis ish is at 8.0

Wiki.warthunder ain’t up to date:

check the right side, bis ish is premium

This should be 8.3 for sure

You aren’t even talking about the same plane

This is a MiG-15bis with slightly more drag that is at 8.0 and is insanely overpowered.

PrEmIuM ^^ but ok

what do you mean by this

i wasn’t checking premium BR’s, because they all tends to be lower on purpose.

Not necessarily
