I had thought the F-40’s BR was inappropriate simply because there were superior, upwardly compatible aircraft in the same BR, (CL-13B mk.6).
I need to change my way of thinking.
Ok, let me be clear to you. The game is MASSIVELY compressed. Yes, the CL13B Mk6 is just a strictly better aircraft than the F-86F-40 at the same BR. Do you know what happens if you downtier the F-86F-40? It becomes a sabre…at 8.7… that is just strictly better than other 8.7 jets.

should be mid in old school mind, but now we have su7 and f3h at 9.0 whatever
Su-7’s don’t turn, and have no Missile, as they’re mostly going to do Base Bombing
→ wait them over bases, then dives when they focus on their bombing run → easiest kills ever.
F3H are good for the two firsts turns (in which they’re going to loose most their energy, and got in troubles to make energy back, despite Afterburner)
→ focus onto making them slow, once they’re slow, you’ll rate fight them to death.
F-86F40 is especially good at that, as it don’t degrade it’s energy as fast as the F3H, but is capable of diving and put a 9B in the Su-7 tail
F-104’s? keep your missile for a bit, defend their attacks by avoiding them,… after a bit, they’ll think you have no missile left → slips behind them after a defensive maneuver (as they’re going to Overshoot), and proceed with AIM-9B Freedom delivery. :D

if the F-86F40 is send to lower BR → it will become a God amongst Gods (MiG-17A / F-86F2 for exemple)

if you go in their trap, your worse than most newbs on high tier premiums,…
it means you’ve done everything to get killed by them
and they can run me down, if i’m aware of their doings, there is no way they gun me down.
they will end up with no guns, and it’s easy to proceed of killing them on their airfields.

i have over 3 kd in a super sabre… does that mean its op and dominates every match? no it just so happens that i do well in a f100

and yes, you’ve barely played F-86 A’s or F’s (Cl-13’s included) : 112 games in total
This is fine and all but your options in the F-86 are to either go into the trap and die or to keep flying straight and let him get positive position on you and let him dictate the fight, purely only able to fly defensive from that point onwards. It’s a lose-lose for the F-86.

The F-40 is not an A-5
It is a F-30 retrofitted with AIM-9B
That is literally the only difference.
It also has an entirely different wing including but not limited to adding wing slats.
