Perhaps, but in either case, I would consider the Kai and F3 largely comprable aircraft in terms of performance.
Yeah, doesnt matter that much though, its one of the hardest radars to notch and is all-aspect. Ive rather reliably fought a lot of aircraft I dont have much buissness fighting, like F-15s
It may be one of the strongest HDN radar, but it is still a HDN radar. Most players don’t actually know how to notch properly even against HDN radar, I’ve seen 13.3s die to very bad shots from my mirage 2000C-S5. Once you keep in mind its a HDN radar though, simply going a bit cold in the notch while chaffing is enough to defeat it.
externally they appear the same but under the hood they’ve got distinct opposites. tornado plays more passively and has more reliable radar missiles, phantom has less reliable radar missiles but can afford to be more aggressive with them
dying to an M2KCS5 in a Su-30 is crazy work considering you can literally stall the 530D with basic maneuvering in many scenarios and simply HGB it if its too close to stall
Kinda my point, opposite sides of the same coin, but overall should probably be at the same BR
It is all-aspect, so this doesnt actually work against the foxhunter. It will quite happily track you in rear-aspect
i personally disagree, the F-4’s flightmodel genuinely allows it to play way more aggressively than the tornado.
i’ve got both spaded, i love both, but i can with 100% confidence tell you that the F-4EJ’s wallet is full of aggression and you can afford to spend it
It is not all aspect. Even the game tells you this.

EJ Kai:

you’d have to be going pretty slow relative to the tornado for that to work considering the foxhunter’s HDN mode actually quite handily tracks escaping or closing targets in rear aspect
Then that is probably wrong, but ive had no issues guiding a Skyflash onto someone in rear-aspect deploying CMs
PD HDN radars can track in all aspect if the closure rate is far enough in the negatives, even the game tells you this. the foxhunter is capable of tracking targets in PD escaping you with a speed of anywhere between 500 ish km/h and 1470km/h

From my experience HDN radars can somewhat track targets going cold, but it’s not as reliable as true PD radars.
I treat the foxhunter as a bit of an exception when it comes to HDNs. Way more reliable than most.
I won’t deny that. But it remains fact that a HDN radar is still objectively worse than a true PD one, even if the TWS is really good for quality of life.
all of this gaijin’s fucking around with the foxhunter to allow it to bullshit its way through all aspect locks with only a HDN PD mode but they won’t fucking give it its historical all-aspect PD capabilities
Or just its correct top speed
or just its correct elevator deflection
Gaijin looks at Tornado and be like “best we can do is worse turn rate than mig-25 even with wings swept out”
Moving things down isnt gonna fix compression, ever.
However this thing sitting at the same BR as F-15J and JUST 0.3 BR lower than ADTW is criminal, thats for sure.
you know, all of this about the tornado being a boat, but, honestly? i’ve won more dogfights with the tornado than with the F-5E against the same audience
