Hm, one can also perform butterkiss landings after harsh maneuvers in combat aircraft. That’s also what overhead breaks and battle breaks can be used for, if the landscape permits.
I have a lot of experience with the airfields in the Alps, which often intentionally were positioned in the valleys to make attacking them difficult. Similar to what we have in Afghanistan in WT.
But yes, it takes time, and hence is a question of preference/prioroties.
If I could, I’d even prefer to start cold&dark on the plate, and finish the mission there as well. But that’s just me.
Yes, I agree.
Let’s take it mainly as a game and overall, takeoff and landing are secondary, compared to other suggestions on how to improve RB.
There used to be a lot of talk about aircraft carriers and I remember the Norway map where one team had an airfield and the other just airstart… The 3 aircraft carriers that were there were suddenly being used… and there were players who managed to land on the ship in a Spitfire, but logically it’s not an aircraft carrier aircraft, so there was no chance to re-arm…
Then there’s the Guam-Exercise map… there’s an aircraft carrier and an airfield, but most players use the airfield because landing on an aircraft carrier is more challenging and the reward for a good landing is minimal…
So again, it requires a more sophisticated setup for both the land-based airfield and the aircraft carrier… you have an aircraft carrier aircraft, so learn in a test flight how to use takeoffs and landings on board and you simply don’t re-arm on the land-based airfield…
Everyone likes the game setup, a little differently, a thousand people = a thousand tastes…
Hm, DCS seems like very sophisticated simulator, but sometimes it looks like real work, not a game… WOWP is a pretty fun arcade without any major thinking and WT ARB I play with a joystick, even though the mouse is more precise, I just started to get bored with the mouse and with the joystick it’s just… different dynamics of the game…
I always discover players who are unfamiliar with the air brakes, wheel brakes or the elevator to increase deceleration. And then I wonder, what I might be missing too.
Every plane was made to be able to land on that “short” runway, eve plane has its own technic for landing.
F105 you used something fast but it has that parashute so it is possible to land with it.
Every plane has its own landing speed.
So the kye is, right speed and technic.
Learn something about your plane!
therefore belly landing should come at a huge repair time increase.
IRL you probably even in war would have to do extensive repairs and checks, that go beyond replacing a few parts.
Maybe you ruin the entire airframe
If Gaijin actually adds a taxing mechanic instead of using the vertical stabilizer which barely helps the plane turning in ground, then yes, this would be, undoubtedly a good implementation if with proper reward to simulator battles considering the time it would consume.
