Removing killfeed is also something to consider as it unreasonably screws over ground pounders. It’s fine for GRB, but it doesn’t serve any positive purpose in ARB.
Guess what, if you blend into the background (the ground) spotting distance is already only 1.9km with ace crew!!!

Spotting things is a lot easier when they are moving, the human eye and brain are optimized for distinguishing movement from stillness over seeing single static objects like in images, if he showed a clip it wouldn’t be that hard to see the enemy plane.
Both team spotting and normal spotting are broken
normal spotting because as @Geamr showed, even the sun can make you invisible.
- poor player tutorials lead to new players furballing on 1 big messy spot
- poor anticheat model vanishing excuse (who aimbots in ARB? wtf?)
- reduced experience obtained from said furballs or thirdparties, new players never bother to learn tactics, just steal, simply waste all their energy on a low priority target or never learn to keep spatial awareness.
- reduced tactical play, I remember pulling an insane flank on a P-39 once, no one expected me, not once i’ve been able to pull it again because all it takes is 1 suicide base bomber to rat someone out.
For me it should be made simple as “if difference in altitude is +700m then reduced multiplier is applied” for individual spotting
Team spotting is just genuinely a bad actor, you see how allied strike planes are jumped by 3-4 people at once and then you look over and your teamates are doing the same to an enemy strike plane.
Bombers try to play it smart by trying a wide flank, but 1 strike/fast bomber who just dove and bled all altitude spot them and get them killed.
Fighters see one aircraft that is just a teeny tiny bit of a higher skill floor and they beeline to it from +22km because if they never learned to fight alone.
What about teamplay? real “teamplay” is rare, what you currently see are a bunch of starving dogs ganging up on someone.
A zero will probably lose if +5 P-51s turn with it at the same time, it doesn’t even reward skill on that either.
Removal of teamspotting won’t make ARB like sim where you spend 90% on patrol.
ARB maps are smaller and more predictable (2 runways and a clear frontline), the camera placement of outside of sim allows for better visibility(third person), commands still work just fine, you will need to open the map more and try to understand concept via keeping game sense and actually caring for your teamates via noticing different behaviour.
general skill floor will raise, now your “average” teamates know how to actually fend for themselves and you can actually see them as players instead of cheap bait or an exit route.
They will learn to keep an eye out since currently scanning the horizon or looking back to where your allies are at is simply not convinient, they will communicate more even if by simple “attention to the map!” or the radio wheel, which maybe it can be updated to support more specific commands.
They won’t steal your kills as much since the only way they can spot an opportunity is when you already merged and already got some shots off, currently they are basically notified directly before the merge even happens and you are at +5km of your enemy.
The “simulates pilot communication” makes actual teamwork and communication where all allies see benefits redundant.
Remove it and people will materialize “these blue names are my friends I can call them over” instead of “these blue names are my rivals I should snuff out as much enemies before them”.
That some people are scared they won’t be able to predict basic enemy movement is their fault, it is tiring already, isolate an enemy only for your allies to come and steal the kill or the entire enemy team dogpile on you, or try to flank for AI/bases only for the most disconnected player in the enemy team to automatically snitch on you because just so happened you flew 6km near it.
It’s not fun, it is frustating actual individual work and intentional cooperation is not rewarded, alternative ways to play or even simple tactics are nullified because it only takes 1 enemy plane to fly within 6km of you to inmediatly end in you and your allies outnumbered and swarmed.
