ALL red enemy markers need removal from planes in Air RB. Not just team spotting.
Imo, enemy markers should still appear at 1-1.5 miles since planes will blend into the backround on some maps making dogfights unfun.
Good ways to make the mode even more frustrating in 16v16 than it already is
Do we need markers on planes in Combined modes? No.
Therefore we don’t need them in Air RB either.
Obviously this would demand full separation of all practically functional radar systems from planes without them, since radars are modeled in WT as funny marker reskins for all intents and purposes.
The only red enemy markers needed temporarily are those on the AI ground units until a global redesign of Air map textures takes place. THOSE literally can blend into maps so well that spotting them is impossible, especially since on some maps they spawn inside or nearly inside buildings/hills due to spaghetti code.
If people cannot see and cluster around every single enemy they spot like Finding Nemo seagulls, it actually is a hilariously simple way to make the game mode much LESS chaotic even in 16v16 (even though I very much am in favor of smaller match sizes at all BRs of no more than 8v8).
It’s not a need, so much as, it’d be nice if planes didn’t disappear when near trees.
What’s frustrating is 1v1 dogfights being practically impossible above 8.3
That’s an anticheat BS issue. Don’t use their laziness to propogate their mistakes even further. I do get that problem myself sometimes, and certainly don’t like it. But it’s important to remember - Gaijin doesn’t fix dot rendering problems precisely because red enemy markers exist.
Removing them from Air RB would force them to actually fix them, or better yet just ditch all the half-baked anticheat software entirely. It doesn’t stop the botting infestations.
The plane was still rendered, it just blended in to the trees since everything renders as dark gray past a short distance.
Im pretty sure even the Yellow P-63’s turn completely gray far away.
Makes unlockable camo patterns useless, but that’s more of a abandonded feature for aircraft type of issue.
No it is a radical solution because you don’t give players time to get used to it.
Yes, it is a terrible feature.
No, we cannot applie gordian knot solution on this, because it will cause backdraft.
You need to phase it out gradually from the top tier to the lower tier, step by step, in case you want to remove it.
But well, it might be better than complete removal of market itself.
I don’t think it is good idea because it will eventually make air RB into lame c&p mode of Air sim.
If you want to play a game mode with NO enemy marker
You can play
-Air sim
-Ground Realistic
-Naval realistic
Instead.
Do you have solid proof from the Gaijin official that they are intentionally not fixing the dot rendering problem because of the sole red marker problem?
Also, there are no guaranteed promises from Gaijin that they will fix rendering problem even after removing red markers from game.
You always need to expect worse, just like how internal module overhaul went.
Not really. You can’t just refrain from making any changes at all just cuz some people are afraid of change.
That’s the thing, we don’t need to. Making gradual change is not necessary.
No, not really.
CAP being fun is part of the reason I want team spotting removed from ARB.
I reckon you are just replying ‘no’ to nearly every comment I made to you without proper explanation; it seems like opposing for the sake of opposing, or somewhat kinda contrarian to me, but fine.
I agreed with you about current team spotting is a mess, no?
some people (x)
many people (o)
According to the vote you proposed in the first post on this thread, players who want to keep team spotting are twice as many as people who want to remove it.
Maybe we can make changes, but with these differences, removing team-spotting without gradual change will definitely cause the backdrafts. If we really need to remove it, we should do it gradually.
Without your explanation, again.
Removing the red marker from Air RB entirely will eventually make Air RB into a lame C&P mode of air sim
which
-Attacker/Bombers are still worthless compared to air sim because no proper base/airfield target to achieve another way to win
-but can play on 3rd view instead of being forced as cockpit view.
-and cannot respawn, also have shorter playtime per match.
Ta dah. Air Sim, but worse.
Okay, you like CAP in Ground Realistic, so you want to remove team spotting from Air Realistic, right?
But you don’t want to make those changes gradually or provide a proper explanation with a bright, solid solution, even though 2/3 of voters dislike it?
I think that is a bad idea.
Even though the current team spotting mechanism is a mess.
Your current solution and how to implement it is way too radical, just like you are trying to amputate your hand because you cut your finger while you’re cooking.
Yes, removing team spotting itself can be one of the solutions, but no, we shouldn’t implement it without being gradual.
I think it should be reworked to function more like the “air alert” radio call out in GRB. Or possibly a cross between that and the scouting mechanic.
The amount of info given on the markers for people in your visual range should also be reduced, giving the exact variant of aircraft is a bit much IMO.
We already have “Cover me!” radio messages, and “Attention to the map!” markers. I think those are better, from a gameplay perspective, than an air scouting feature since they require more effort from the person marking the enemy.
I think having plane model listed on personal markers is fine as they only apear a few miles out. Knowing the plane you’re fighting is pretty important, and without personal markers, players could gain a competitive advantage just by having a higher res monitor to identify planes from further out.
Exact aircraft info is more an issue with team spotted marker as you can have exact info on a guy 10 miles away that doesn’t even know you exist. It’s especially bad around 9.3 where you start seeing undogable missiles and flareless aircraft.
Yeah i agree, but thats less an issue of having that spotting system but that we still fight on (basically) the same maps as props with the same amount of players. It would’ve been amazing if after rank 4/5 the matches became 2 less players for each rank. Sure this doesn’t look too smart at first, but considering we don’t/won’t get more than one or two maps bigger than atleast 150x150 for a while this could atleast make it a bit Interesting granted its quite a few who are tired of 16v16. Open to some ideas for improvement of this. In the rare occassion that i did get a snaller air match with that setting turned on (yes it still exists but its so rare to get one) i did have my luck to have peaceful 1v1 in 13.0
I’ill also be entirely honest, im still looking where theres supposed to be a plane in that screenshot god damn
This would prolly pair well with sim style respawning. You wouldn’t run out of enemies to fight in the first few minutes, but battles also wouldn’t devolve into furballs.
I took the screenshot when it was infront of these trees. I can’t find it at all, so I’m not sure if it just blended that well, or if Ckasaron is right and it’s just not rendering at all due to crappy anticheat. Either way it’s pretty annoying in dogfights on winter maps.

All the RB modes need a rework and modern vehicles need different configuration to ww2 RB. Too many of the features are built around the need to make things easier because ww2 vehicles were very difficult to use so a lot of assistance is needed to make them fun. Modern jets have radars, targeting pods to find enemy players. Some minor assistance like the general location of enemies on the map if a friendly sees them would be ok.
Modern planes are too arcade like in GRB CAS as well, 3rd person CCIP and being able to aim PGMs via the 3rd person view is horribly unbalanced and leads to a severe mismatch in vehicles with old jets facing modern AA to try and balance the lack of sensible mechanics.
Jesus christ you really can’t see it unless you go into individual pixels. But yeah removing spotting for Air RB would make stuff like this especially on winter maps even worse
Can I get another hint?
hopefully only current team spotting is removed, I already didn’t like winter maps because I can’t see my tracers.
I’d say instead of spotting you simply get a marker on the map which wouldn’t tell you any more info past “enemy plane”.
I have no idea where the plane was, I all know is it was in the trees. Here’s a better demo with markers on.

I hate winter maps.
