Team spotting seriously needs to be removed from ARB

Chat and it takes like 2 secs + other binds meant for communicating

Funny part is you can spot your own teammates with name tags and all but they have to be really close (1.8 km?). No enemy tags however. So if not fren = someone’s getting a 20/30mm in the cockpit.

Only had this issue in some lobbies where incompetent people dont provide info, dont confirm targets and often teamkill

Also little quirk with removing team spotting.
If you are flying a bad plane or are in a bad energy state, there is a larger chance to get away.

Thank you!

no.

Although all your points are reasonable, we had this by accident after the firebirds update, and it was the best experience I ever had in ARB over years.

i remember that one update where spamming the targeting pod spots everyone within 20km. good times.

Teams were alot better those times too

bro wants stupid players to stay hidden while base bombing

you can use basic strategy, If you want to keep killing base bombers just fly towards bases at the start of the battle.

Personally i think ARB should remove names all together. When they did that event a few months ago with phantoms vs mig 21 with no names it felt so fun and needed actual awareness and skill. ARB just feels like a one life arcade battle at the minute. Instead of just big red names showing up exactly where you are, it should be more like a page on the radar or something that lets you see people marked through data link, instead of just the names.

Maybe for top tier since you hace AESA radars and IFF, but on prop BRs? No way that would be a good change.

Team spotting is the reason your team almost always resorts to furballing and kill stealing. I’d love to dogfight in planes like the F/A-18A, F-4E, and AV-8B, but I can’t. Why? Because the moment I get within 5 miles of an enemy, I’m instantly doxxed and will have 2-6 missiles launched either at me or at my enemy.

The same way they do it IRL. By communicating with their allies.

They’re gonna get picked up by PD radar anyways.

I think it would be better to keep nametags on teammates, and on enemies <1 mile away (primarily so that you can keep visual contact on an enemy in a df)

Do you mean bad?

I think it simulates like radio communication between allied planes. For example, “hey I got a migger at D4 keypad 3 at 600 meters high and climbing”.

Now I read some of you responded that we have the chat and radio voices. But lets be real, not even half your average team use them and will not even pay attention to yours (especially new players and console players). Not like IRL where intel its very important. Also we do not have voice chat, unlike games like Project Reality or Arma 3.

Also you can have that type of realism in Air Sim, because ARB its kinda arcade, not for tryhards EA sport players.

Would be the best thing they could do. No more data linked furball being spammed by flanker. Any time you actually get into a dogfight you might have 30 seconds to fight without fox 3 spam.

No chance, not with the current game design of Air RB at least.

Positioning is the single most useful technique a player can learn, and removing the spotting system almost entirely means that you’re having to position based off the limited information people have time to type into chat while in a dogfight at best, or just blind hope at worst.

Not to mention the fun that happens when wandering close to something is enough to get you killed in certain matchups. Flareless planes wandering within 3km of an A-10, missile trucks wandering within 3km of an F-16 or Gripen, energy fighters wandering into a Spitfire or Zero, etc.

Playing in an uptier is hard enough as it is, imagine doing so when you have no idea if the plane you’re closing with is something that outperforms yours in literally every single way until you’re within ~3km of it?

Not to mention the immense increases of people managing to skirt around the map and pop up on somebodies six, which due to how proximity spotting works, they won’t realize until it’s far too late to do anything about it.

And for the people who are acting like this would change the Fox 3 meta, are you aware that NTCR and competent RADARs make team spotting almost irrevelant? That tier is the single one where there won’t be a substantial loss of information from this change.

LOL Positioning. Go left, chaff incoming…spam furball that other players have highlighted.
Or wait for the lobby timer, slowly make way to middle, spam on furball like my 98% SS rated friend does…zzz

It would seriously gimp any plane outside of aesa and make them actually have to use the garbage radar

thats good. Flanking is still used irl.

There’s a lot more to playing top tier than that, but that’s almost besides the point since 90% of the planes in game aren’t at ARH spam tier.

Think about how this change would affect planes with poor RADARs and RWRs for their tiers. Or planes that lack those features when other planes have them. Or planes that all but require good positioning to do well (Slow jets like Vampires/Yak-23s, planes that rely on having an altitude advantage like Bf-109s, etc).
