They could just turn off freindly fire on nuke carriers at that point.
People are always gonna do it regardless of the consequences, after over 3000 hours I’ve come to realise that the growing rate of trolls and Tking that is “Justified” over pathetic excuses such as,
" I didnt want the game to end" or “It was my base” , “You took my kill”
etc etc is showing me that we should just turn off friendly fire at this point.
Literally now in higher tier ARB people do it for videos on tik tock or youtube, the level of it is becoming one of the reasons I actively am struggling to enjoy the game as much as I used to.
What is the penalty for deliberately shooting down a teammate’s plane? I’ve been dealing with these kinds of rudeness lately, and I’m wondering if the penalties might not be enough to deter people.
I hope Gaijin would fix the friendly fire when players are still on the airfield in air RB.
At the start of the match, a Tornado carrying bombs crashed while taking off and the crash setting off the bombs which damaged and made my Tornado crash and the bombs on my Tornado exploded (I didn’t hit drop the bombs, they exploded on crashing) and damaged multiple friendlies. I got unfairly kicked and punished for an accident that’s out of my control.
Here’s the replay: Gaijin Entertainment - Single Sign On
Took plane to perform CAS, shot a AAM at an enemy plane and it hit my teammate. Then I got shot down and got into my Gepard . Was shooting at tank when a friendly plane flew right trough my stream of bullets while flying supper low. Bam! Instant kick from game. I guess there is no good way of tracking what really happened and the system in place is the most rudimentary one. Asking for it to be more accurate would require HUMAN intervention and that’s impossible in real time. Or it would need some of that new AI magic.
hello everyone. from what i’ve read here, no one likes killing the team. so i would be interested in why it wasn’t done like in tank battles, that it’s forbidden to shoot at fellow players? or if it’s somewhere in the settings, i have no idea? but i can’t shoot at teammates in tanks, my sights always show blue crosses. but as for air battles, this option is missing, wouldn’t it be possible to add it to air battles too? i have no idea about the navy, i haven’t played ships for a long time. so the question is, would someone in high places not have suggested this directly to GJ to prevent attacking their own team members, is there anyone like that? thank you
Well, I just had a duck TK me for zero reason when I spawned in a plane in GRB.
I was annoyed so I TK’ed them back, because they deserved it. Maybe I did something wrong, but I fully believe that I was justified because he screwed over my match.
Tanks fight in what’s effectively in a 2D environment where engagements are often stationary with mobility between them.
Moment-to-moment movement is not an integral part of tank battles.
Whereas for aircraft,
Movement is the most important part. Maneuvering in 3D space takes priority even over gunnery - being the best shot in the world is worthless if you cannot get your nose on target!
What consequence does this have for teamkilling?
Challenge.
Friendlies present a significant obstacle in a NvsN scale environment. Teamwork, either implicitly understood or actively coordinated, is required to succeed as spraying blindly whenever you get a gunsolution may well end up striking a team mate.
Without teamwork, you might be better off fighting 1vs1 over a 2vs1 as your wingman can sabotage your shots, crash into you as you line it up, strike you in a reckless head-on attempt.
With teamwork though, the situation completely changes into a hopeless struggle for survival for your quarry.
Without the risk of friendly collission and blue-on-blue fire, tactics and raw maneuvering have their skill floor AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, skill ceiling lowered.
Lowering skill floor is fine. Lowering skill ceiling? Please don’t.
Having room for skill expression through teamwork (Or exploiting its absence as the quarry) gives room for very memorable and fun plays.
One such example of exploiting its absence is recognizing if your pursuers lack situational awareness and are getting too greedy to kill you. You can then lure them into what seems like a standard turnfight only to reverse your turn and… BANG!
The two zeros chasing you collided in a fireball.
You can’t have moments like that if collission and team damage is removed.
I understand the collision, I’m not talking about that. I’m talking about the fact that as a player, I’m forbidden from shooting at teammates in tanks, but the rest of us can shoot from a machine gun, but they won’t do any damage, but I just can’t for three years. So I’m just asking why shooting at teammates is not prohibited even in air battles. I just don’t know if it can be set in the game settings or if GJ set it directly so that I can’t shoot at teammates in tanks.
Imagine you’re in an aircraft. You have a bandit on your tail.
You engage in evasive maneuvers and force an overshoot because a single plane shooting at you from that mange is just barely manageable.
Now.
Imagine you’re in an aircraft. You have 2 overtly greedy bandits on your tail.
The situation remains manageable because the two planes cannot shoot freely as they risk hitting their buddy.
Now,
Imagine the same scenario but without friendly fire.
The 2 bandits on your tail can now spray and pray blindly without consequence (especially if american planes with their near-infinite 50 cal ammo). Can you be expected to employ defensive flying in such a situation?
With friendly fire, to properly pressure quarry in a 2vs1 requires thinking and implicit coordination. You don’t both chase the same guy. One of you goes high, the other low. One of you saddles up while the other goes to cut the foe off when they try to reverse the turn.
I’ve had the pleasure of being annihilated by people in VC coordinating and luring me into traps. It’s a pretty awesome form of skill expression.
There’d be no need to do such with friendly fire off.
Furthermore, friendly fire also makes executing legitimate teamwork-based defensive flying challenging - thach weave for instance. Imagine how different it’d go if you didn’t need to care about friendly fire.
This situation likely would get even more pronounced with missiles since being near a friendly can prevent a free SARH/all-aspect launch lest it hit your buddy.
None of this kind of maneuvering and 3D positioning is relevant to tanks. Friendly fire is still interesting in tank battles, but mostly in terms of IFF and artillery.
I understand well, but in air battles, if someone from my team gets in my way and I take them down, it gives me a message: don’t shoot at your teammates, otherwise you will be returned to the hangar. This could be prevented by a blue cross appearing in the crosshair and the person in question from the team will be prohibited from attacking their own player.
I’d much rather not have my guns stop working because the game thinks I might hit my teammate. It will break and prevent firing in far more situations than appropriate.
Simply only open fire on your own terms when it’s not going to hit a friendly.
For turning off weaponry, doing so on take off is fine by me. Start of match until 2 km from spawn.
This is (quite frankly spoken) one of the most useless additions to this thread. If you think this through, the game would become even less demanding for any player with an IQ above room temperature (in °C not F).
The problem is not friendly fire (which has a place regarding semi-realism in Air RB or Air SB) - the problem is the lack of severe punishment for intentional or unintentional team kills.
Without severe consequences it is logical that frustrated / reckless or just plain stupid players kill friendlies.
Disabling friendly fire like for tanks vs tanks in Ground RB is based on even lower skill and iq levels there - the game is tailored and optimized to be played by kids; it is therefore somehow logical that they play like kids.
The usual clowns dropping FAB-5000s on A, B or C point and willfully team kill friendlies or killing own nuke carriers do this as gaijin let them get away with this - the threshold to trigger their auto-ban functionality (temp bans) is way too high, that’s all.
Puh, no idea what u are talking about, but i recommend to use a better translator - and a short reminder: WT and IRL are separate worlds.
