Hello everyone. The question itself is written in the topic. How can I actually understand what target is currently selected in simulator battles? I only see some number when switching targets, but how should I understand what exactly this target is? There are no markings on the map.
It is not easy:

It really depend on the aircraft. some have no symbology at all and thus there is no way to know. Others have some pretty decent HUD symbology so long as you have the base within the HUD.
So does depend on the aircraft you are flying.
There was an old suggestion for it to be improved on the old forums. But alas no improvements yet:
This thread is over a year old, what’s the problem with just adding a selection icon on the map? Typical snail…
Yeah… Its because its a problem that only affects Sim. In ARB you have a world marker
Also kinda affects fround battles
Not really. Ground battles dont have any preset mission targets (though I have been meaning to make a suggestion for the cap points to be considered mission targets) and if you set a manual CCRP target point, I beleive you still get the “world marker” for it. At least you do with GBUs and it uses the same system.
I’d love the ability to set SPI using the map.
From 0 to 11 are airfield compartments. Others are active bases. If you have a digital HUD, you can set the sight mode to “Bombs (auto)” and there will be a marker at CCRP point. Obsolete HUD will probably just show the direction of the CCRP point.
Just in case there are 3 airfields;
airfield 1 [0, 1, 2, 3],
airfield 2 [4, 5, 6, 7],
airfield 3 [8, 9, 10, 11].
I never tested base mechanics in maps other than Sinai but it is probably as we expect it. For example a map with 5 AFs probably goes from 0 to 19.
Actually i also remembered some maps have A, B, C, D, E and F points for naval bases. I don’t know about their numbers but you also gotta skip them.
It does. First 12-20 (starting from 0) are always AFs
I dont think they are in the CCRP target list
I remember playing in Port Moresby and having fixed CCRP targets for naval bases. Because there was like 3 AFs and 4 bases but there was more than 16 active targets.
I dont think that was naval targets, but rather base numbering not resetting or something.
So 0-11 AF. Then base spawns and is 12, next is 13, next is 14. Then 12 gets killed and next spawns and its 15. etc etc.
So
0-11 is AF
12 doesnt exist anymore
13 base
14 Base
15 base
etc etc. Thats why it jumps numbers at times.
They weren’t ships or coastal defences. They were literally at the middle of the point and there were no land bases nearby. I also found similar land bases in custom ARB games. Some maps has points but no bases. Just a few troops to kill and CCRP did include those.
