huh, it is indeed has the same inlet diameter as AL-31F, this is actually huge for backwards compatibility with the fleet of Flankers used all over the world. Even slamming 177S on something like MKM or MKI would be a significant upgrade.

another example of the great naming conventions russia uses

Well, this is internal factory designation. In service it will probably gonna be some sort of AL-XX

Why do Russia keep producing engines with small incremental improvements why not just take the time to develop the best possible engine and fit it?

1500kgf increase in thrust isnt a small increment while basically keeping the same fuel consumption

that is an increase of 10% for the afterburning thrust and a 20% increase for dry thrust

Yeah it’s missing the classic Rafale trait of being able to re-organize it’s atoms to avoid missiles, trees, and any other sort of threat.

Dude the Rafale is literally unplayable.

The Radar literally picks up everything, The MICAs are horrible, the FM is terrible, the HMD sucks, the MAWS uses up all your flares…

We really need MICA NG.

Also nerf the AMRAAM and replace all R-77-1 with base R-77.

1000kgf. AL-41F-1 on Su-57 is rated 15000kgf, AL-41F-1S is 14500kgf. But 177 and 177S feature reduced inlet diameter of 905mm compared to AL-41F-1 932mm

confirmation of 177 engine
