Sukhoi Su-57 Felon - Technical details, Analysis and Discussion

Not any system currently mounted on helicopters and likely small aircraft too.

My point still stands
If LIDAR on cars on damage cameras, a 3.5kVa system can easily burn a seeker
I really don’t wanna get in this argument again, atleast for now

These are not comparable.

Yes a small laser against camera vs a big laser against a slightly different camera isn’t comparable

well, we know that Vitebsk can counter MANPADS pretty effectively at least.

And afaik, even future eurofighter and j16 are opting for DIRCM, what’s the point of putting these “obsolete” systems if they can’t do anything against IIR

Why does IRIS-T specify CDIRCM capabilities of all IIR are immune?

LDIRCM is overperforming I agree, but people are not focussing on what’s actually wrong about them.

Yes there are some counter claims too, hence the argument is murky and I don’t wanna get into it again for now.

Notice how you have really made any objective statement so far. There is at least 1 study discussing how much power is needed to damage a imaging seeker enough to destroy it, said study not a single ldircm we have ingame has an output close that what would be needed.

The argument against it working is much more well funded. There is no real evidence in support of them doing anything

not against AAM for sure.(tho eurofighter may take use of it as potiential enemy still cant figure out how to make IIR)

before anyone points china out, china and europe arent enemies yet. in a taiwan crisis europe would be unlikely to intervene unless things get real bad.

i was talking abt ru*ia anyway

I was about to posted it. Good thing the forum show that someone already did.

The interesting part its the second half. S. Bogdan talk that when equipped with AA missiles. The Su-57 can perform AoA of 26º Maintaining the maximum lift. And that it can go as far as 30+º of AoA and still maintaining a “good” lift. He also talk that the Aircraft can reach speed of 2.5mach and that can perform maneuver of more than 6g at that speed.

I mean that lines up wit the brochure. 8 g load limit before Mach 1 and after than it’s 6g limit.

The brochure are more of a safe thing. If we go with the brochure the speed would be limited to mach 2.

The Su-57 aircraft took to the skies for the first time with a promising fifth-generation engine “product 177”

Well, 177 has same thrust characteristics as AL-41F1 so you technically already see it in-game. But IRL it would indeed be a very solid upgrade for pretty much every Flanker airframe apart from Su-35 and maybe new SM2s because Izd 177 was designed for standard engine mounts for AL-31F

Actually nevermind, Rostech claims that 177 is 16000 kgf of thrust…

I think i got confused between 177 and 177S

also it seems that 177 currently intalled for testing is not equipped with TVC nozzle. That is ofc if this footage is from the said test flight.

this is a pretty old photo of the same airframe, but the left engine was claimed to be Izdelye 30, not 177.
