Suggestion for a New "Air Realistic/Sim" Mode – Combining the Best of Both

Hello everyone,

First off, a big thank you to the developers for the amazing graphical updates—afterburners, vapor effects, and all the little details that make the game truly stunning. Incredible work!

That said, I feel like Sim players often miss out on fully enjoying these visuals. Wouldn’t it be great to have a mode that bridges the gap between Sim and Realistic battles?

Here’s an idea: “Air Realistic/Sim” mode, combining Sim mechanics with third-person view:

  • No enemy indicators: Spot enemies using radar or visuals only, just like in Sim.
  • Full immersion mechanics: Close the canopy to land, use radar effectively to track targets.
  • Third-person view: Appreciate the beauty of the game while maintaining realistic gameplay.

I feel this could add a new layer of immersion and appeal to both Realistic and Sim players.

What do you think? Would you like a mode like this? How would you refine it? I’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions!

ps: Also, why AI can’t shoot missiles ?!

As long as I can use mouse control of AAB/ARB (because flying full controls with mouse is pain and I dont have flight-stick yet) Im down for it. Also better create a thread in Suggestions (it just more appropriate)

Edit: Also imo indicators still should be a thing. BUT at extremely short ranges and without being transmitted to your team. It purely to avoid Blue-on-Blue/Teamkill situations and still allow mixed teams

ARB with GRB spotting in an EC environment + respawns + more advanced AI behavior + maybe some air defense/no fly zones with SAM sites that can be targeted by strike aircraft in order to allow fighters to keep pushing forward + unlockable perks like AWACS, AF AA deactivation, EW, and bringing new SAM sites online

Edit: + AI wingmen perk (bombers and attackers could really use these imo) + faster day/night cycle + weather pattern implementation if possible

I’m desperately trying to find a way to compete in third-person view WITHOUT THOSE DAMN FAKE ENEMY INDICATORS. Use the radar and enjoy the real thrill of tracking enemies while flying.

I’m even looking for OFFLINE missions (yeah, it’s unfortunate we have to search for offline missions instead of playing with real people), but it seems the AI in this game can’t even shoot missiles…

I really hope they’ll make a SIM version in third-person view, without requiring a joystick.

I think a max limit of 10km for teammate indicators, and a limit of 2km for enemy indicators would be good. Also remove the teammate spotting mechanic, as well as markers from orders like blind hunt.

Play GRB, there aren’t enemy indicators there.

We already played like this in custom games with friends.
10km friendly is good
No need the 2km for enemy, if friends has indicators :)

Something like this we already got in sim.

If you’re within 0.8 km, you’ll see a small blue marker over friendlies.

An unfortunate necessity with copy-paste putting the same plane with barely any different colour/camo on opposite sides. Or even worse, A.I vehicles of literally your own vehicle flying for the enemy because map design

Snail give us a realistic mode without enemy indicators!!! So radar tracking has a sense :D

I wish Gaijin would accept something like this. We’ve been pushing for a significant update to Sim EC along with a reintroduction of RB EC for years.

Gaijin has not responded.

Gaijin doesn’t seem interested in ANY new game mode discussion.

But hey at least the 30 people who liked World War Mode get to have that back for a week or two.

So glad Gaijin really listens to feedback.

having to play the annoying tanks first makes than less than viable. Also no gurantee there will be anything to shoot at

I’m a sim EC player. I’d certainly play this a lot. I wouldn’t mind at all that the 3rd person players have a visibility advantage. Provided that the icons work the same way as in ground RB when flying. I’d even play it with enemy icons if their range is reasonable like 3 km maximum.

People would just be too happy with this game mode and likely would spend less money so I doubt it will ever happen. I’d even pay a monthly subscription or 25 GE per hour.
