Subtree Rework - Nation Folders

It is not.

Pakistani vehicles are in China. Malaysian Vehicles are in Japan. Israel has it’s own tech tree. Cyprus is now an Israeli subtree.

The only official subtrees of Britain are South Africa and India.

Don’t forget Canada and Australia being split between the US and UK.

Love the idea, this solution would be a great both for players and developers.

Nope also canada and others countries, there are vehicles from 6-8 nations, one video from WT workers said it, it was video about British records in WT, but thank you for reminding me about some colonies, even though i remember it, i forgot for example Cyprus in context of WT, which to this day is British colony, tiny part.

This is where the games context is really confusing. Officially Canada is not a subtree, it’s instead split across where Gaijin sees them as needed. That’s why despite being generally a priority for the UK tree, there’s some Canadian vehicles in the US and German tree as well.

Sadly in the actual game there’s no indication what a subtree even is, what nations go where officially, so the only way to tell is official news, QnA’s and statements. There is a list compiling this info though if you’re interested.

10 rows in the premium section, which has no (known) limit. In the techtrees the limit is 3, which is why a lot of the vehicles in this example are foldered.

This is true, they combined the SA line with the rest of the tree to gain some more usable space.

But I’d consider this as a less than ideal fix, since this still doesn’t bring enough space and, compared to the rework, doesn’t allow the nations to stand on their own if players want it. This was a very important aspect for me, especially for subtrees that were previously highly anticipated full techtrees such as BeNeLux or India.

The rework is intended to keep the advantages of subtrees, but also effectively add the advantages of a full techtree. This way India isn’t confined to the space Britain has left, which isn’t a lot and often forces India into premium or events, and instead can expand fully the same way an Indian tree could, but the two nations can still be used together.

100% agreed, folders should make sense, having vehicles from the same family or just generally relevant connection that the folder name can represent. I don’t like folders that don’t make sense.

Both of them have one Ki-44 followed by a Ki-61. These just make no sense at all.

image
These are the two initial STA prototypes. Not directly the same vehicle, but competing designs for the same specification. This makes sense.

I personally think this folder is the worst offender

Wdym? It makes perfect sense to folder a high altitude interceptor with a dive bomber. Stop being silly

If we ever get a 3rd or 4th aircraft in this folder, do you reckon it would be another Whirlwind/Brigand or another aircraft with very little in common?

The Brigand is my favourite interceptor.

Too high tier to be foldered there. It has to be a prop.

Oh right… let’s see, a sherman?

Sure. One of the radial engine ones fits the criterium somewhat.

Thank you for information, when it comes to India and turkey, they must be separate tech trees, both have a lot and both meet all requirements as both have own indigenous mbts - Arjun and altay, if turkey is lacking planes which i doubt always subtt can give more of them. India would be like Israel but with way more Soviet stuff. I am Israel main i wanted turkey or India in alliance with Israel, while subtt would be iran, Philippines, Singapore or chile which most people wanted. Philippines and chile would the best choice, the most similarities and connections, gajing probably want a lot of copy paste or wait for brazil to be way stronger as still it is devastated and poor country, which can’t get own TT at this moment despite being huge. Israel got Greece and Cyprus, i have nothing against it, but i am afraid that gajing will add a lot of copy paste while ignoring unique vehicles or will make them premium. I think i support your idea if it will help gajing to add more uniqueness. People who hate Israel, would ignore all its vehicles, if all ranks offered at least 6 greek vehicles (i would put demand at 8). Everyone would be satisfied. The only thing i don’t like in it is this it would be probably less aesthetic as i wouldn’t see conveniently all vehicles good to be in the same line up, while planing it. 8 ranks, 8 lineups this is how i do with all TTs.

I got this quite a bit when I initially made a suggestion, mostly from @AlvisWisla. Eventually he brought up the idea to have a separate display mode for this specifically.
There, all vehicles of a faction, so all vehicles that can share lineups are shown at a time. They are sorted into vehicle type and BR to get an easier overview for available vehicles, what you might want to research next or want to put in lineups.

If you want more information, it’s in the main suggestion under Faction Overview, and in this suggestion update when it was first added:

Suggestion Feature:

Operation R.E.L.I.C.

While many nations lack space to see their vehicles added and because of that don’t see them at all, others often see theirs end up as event vehicles, with many important vehicles like the VL Myrsky II from Finland, the Toldi IIA from Hungary or the HF-24 from India being entirely unattainable through the regular techtree. Sadly for most of them it’s unlikely to ever see them in the techtrees.

But a recent suggestion by @super_cacti can help allow players to still receive such vehicles.

Essentially what it is is a recurring event that takes place once a year, where older event vehicles can be obtained by earning event stars.

Example image from the suggestion. Notes are explained in detail there.

In this event there is 12 earnable stars each for air, ground and naval, which can then be spent on a selection of otherwise unobtainable vehicles with prices varying by their rank and rarity. Beyond stars, some vehicles might come with a requirement of owning other vehicles first, which I personally see as a great way to encourage players branching out across techtrees such as requiring the Tiger E (Germany) to get the Heavy Tank No.6 (Japan) or the SB2C-4 (USA) to get the SB2C-5 (Thailand).

However event vehicles younger than 1 year can’t be earned through this event, and no rewards from this event can be traded on the marketplace.

In the context of the subtree rework, this allows important vehicles from current subtree nations sadly limited to past events to be attainable again. While it can’t bring them to the techtree, it still is a great way to help expand the national lineups for Finland, Pakistan, India and many more.

If you haven’t already, go read and support the suggestion. It’s really well made and I feel like it could improve the game greatly.
