Best missiles in the game are “uuugh” bruh
it is, the r-77-1 stomps the aim120a/b and c5 in kinematics sub 30 kilometers.
i dont see that being a thing
I dunno man im on the junk missile side.
I do way worse in su27sm and su30 than the 13.0 flanker fighting vs the same jets
Its the missiles… no other varible to consider. Guarenteed kills with pl12 or amrams = a random event when using dodgy ruski fox 3
only missile i would find dodgy is the r-73
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VirO2k5XElI.
but the r-77-1 is absoltely great in my experience.
R27er R27ET and r73 are all great.
Its crazy how missiles can be subjective
oh i dont think r73s are bad, i love them, but theyre the most inconsistent in my soviet loadouts.
who needs an op FM when you got r73.
r73s can be single flared beyond 2km from behind and single flared from any aspects. They’ve got the worst IRCCM of all irccm missiles. While the gatewidth reaches the same FOV as that of magic 2s, it’s initial seeker diameter is as big as that of an r60, making it getting flared instantly from far away. Besides it’s absolute dogass, weak thrust and wobbly.
my r77’-1s miss targets where an aim9e head on from 1km away would have headbutted the target. MICAs on the other hand… nah, you can’t escape from them.
kinematics? if the target flies straight line towards the missile, yes. The moment the motor runs out and has to turn it’s over. Besides, i’m getting more strikes with aim120A’s than r77-1s
Besides, i’ve been killed earlier by aim120s while i shoot an r77-1 at the enemy. This is because aim120 will actually reach earlier while r77-1 loses too much speed the moment it starts to maneuver with the booster off. One of the easiest missiles to defeat.
It is a fact and a statement, that anything that is not a european canard delta is borderline unprofittable to play at top tier.
your launching r77s at 1 km?
if you want to launch something at 1km or lower in a head on use the r73 instant pull and even if the r73 is easily flared at front aspect its to late for them to react and flare it, r77 doesnt have the time to start pulling in time so its just gonna miss
MICAS hit, aim120s hit, r77s hit, r77-1s miss
a missile that can’t strike a target from 1.5-1km away because it can’t pull on time despite having higher maneuverability than an aim120 that would strike, is a shit missile. It’s common to be in such situation when you’re priming the missile for a smoke trail you see 10km away but suddenly you get jumped in by a bandit 3km away from you because the spotting system is so terrific.
Aim120 takes longer to start turning lol, and the R77 + R73 are perfectly capable, or have apart from the mica, the best chance of hitting the shots you describe
At what altitude?
most non thrust vectoring missiles like the aim-120 and r77 would miss anyway in a head on launch with each other at 1km, mica and r73s are the only one who can hit those shots reliably
Any. Whether it’s 12km of altitude and you’re flying mach 1.5, r77-1 will miss or lose the target. I just came from a match where I launched an r77-1 at a target from 20km away at 10km of altitude and hitting mach 1.5, complete bummer. Then I launched another r77-1 from 10km away sea level at an su27 that was like at 3km of altitude and it also missed despite su27 was flying closer towards me. I don’t know how you see the “greatness” in this missile, to me it’s as easy to defeat if not easier than the aim120, i don’t even need chaff to deter them at high altitude.
10km is more than enough to notch, you can do <3km if your plane is manouverable enough. Aim120 has the same seeker, and is worse apart from energy retention which doesnt matter below 10km anyways . The 77-1 is a solid top 3 missile together with Mica and Pl12 i guess.
