Forum is currently dominated by the new toy syndrome in ARH missiles, USSR CAS is still cracked in ground; not much to discuss so why bother

They get agm buff. Sm3 cant outrange aim120 :D

Usually how it works. US can dominate every area for a long time then the sevond another nation beats them in one aspect, it is “omg X nation gets op vehicle/weapon. Why doesnt the US ever get anything good?”

idk what this is beyond them fixing all air launched HEAT/ATGMs so they no longer act like APCR 50% of the time.

Nope. What happened was that CAP just got a MASSIVE buff and at top tier. Where the Su-25SM3 was OP (able to outrange any other nations SAMs). All CAS has basically been nullified as a single CAP aircraft with ARH can maintain air superiority with ease.
Whether thats an Su-27SM with R-77s, A Sea Harrier with AMRAAM or a Mirage with MICA. CAP is absolute (kinda as it should be for the cost)
Just the difference now is that other nations have stronger multi-roles than the soviets. Though the soviets still have the SAM dominance and can hard counter anything employing CAS. Basically the status quo has returned to pre-Su-25SM3 balance. Though only if there is a CAP aircraft up on active patrol

USA has the best Multirole.
Bein able to carry four Amraams or mixed Aim-9/Amraam combo plus AGM-65D and GBU24’s makes F-16C the best multirole capable plane at top tier, but then again new French F-16AM is also capable to do the same thing.
In terms of pure CAS ability Su-25SM3 is still the best tho.
They saw the max range stat on the kh38s and overhyped it.
Some people will focus on one stat and disregard everything else. Doesnt matter if the US has planes with much better airframes carrying better overall weapons. Su252m3 has 4 missiles which can fly 40km.
Do they hit from that far? Doesnt matter.

With the strength of CAP at the moment. The only CAS aircraft that really stand a reliable chance at getting off weapons are those that can fight back. F-16 and Gripen are at the top of that list currently. Su-25SM3 is still one of the best CAS aircraft in the game, with the best AGMs and as the only SAM able to counter any AGM carrier is the Pantsir, rarely do the Su-25SM3s have to worry about ground fire.
But all it takes is a single Multirole or CAP fighter up with Fox-3s to spot the Su-25SM3 or any other CAS aircraft spawning and its a fairly one-sided fight. But something fast, nimble and with Fox-3s of its own. Like the F-16C, stands a better chance of maybe getting CAS weapons off.
But its not just the Su-25SM3 that is hard countered like this. Everything is, even the F-16C or Gripen. They are also required to defend against Fox-3s just as much as they need to defend against a Pantsir.

If you equip any ground ordinance while using Gripen you will stuck with Wingtip Sidewinders.
I forgot about the Mirage. Yes and no on the Gripen. 2x Aim-9M, 1-2x R-Darter/AMRAAM and 2-3x GBUs or AGMs + T-pod is still fairly good multirole (you dont need to equip 4x Fox-3s) . Also maybe one day it will get its centre line weapons as well, to make that 3-4x A2G weapons is not that bad. Its enough to get a kill or 2 on the ground whilst taking on any enemy aircraft.
Lets compare.
F-16C can equip 6 AGM-65D’s,2 Gbu-24’s and either 4 Aim-120’s or mixed Aim-120+Aim-9M.
Mirage2K can equip 4-5 A2A Missiles while having 2 Nords Plus 3 Gbu-12’s or 3 PGM’s.
Gripen can equip either 4 AGM-65 plus 2 Wingtip Sidewinders or can equip 2 AGM/Gbu, 2 Aim-120+2 Wingtip Sidewinders, belly hardpoint is only there for Gbu.
In every scenario Gripen is inferior to both platforms in terms of Multirole capabilites.
