iirc it was to demonstrate BVR vs WVR, but UniqueScorpion, in his better “BVR” plane, got demolished by an F-4F ICE.
He also died to Migoon’s MiG-29N.
No, it was supposed to show how much more important close range perf is because he said “BVR is meta” and used it as reasoning to say that the R-77 is a bad missile (even pre-Fox-3 buffs)
Eventually I was doing too well and decided to grab worse and worse planes to ego a bit

It still proved my point however that the R-77 was only really scoring kills in best case scenarios, meanwhile the A-120s could actually score a kill at BVR.
Granted the test was a little fudged,
Since I was for the first time trying to MCM… since that’s what Ron pointed out is the best thing to do. In which MiGoon pulled out a Su-30SM2 or the like to just shoot my ARH’s down immediately. (Like he said, he must’ve needed to pat his ego).
We both got kills in BVR with 120s, I only stayed in the F-15E… because I didn’t really care, he continued to swap and fly other vehicles.
TL;DR the 120s say they’re the same as the R-77s… but R-77s drop tracking pretty easily, and are in my opinion, and from data we collected… useless outside of 6 mile range, on a super sonic airframe too.
Imagine a subsonic firing them. Effective range would likely be about 4 miles… maybe 5. In ideal conditions of course.
