Truly the tiger_tank of ground
Ground Realistic Battles is already heavily compressed from around Rank VI onwards. Considering the ordnance available to it, the Su-39 is capable of outperforming most SPAA at 10.3 and below, while remaining relevant up to 11.7.
It is certainly possible that an 11.7 Russian lineup will encounter more uptiers than downtiers, but, in my personal opinion, balancing a vehicle primarily around the assumption that it will be uptiered is not a particularly sound way of approaching matchmaking. A vehicle’s performance in downtiers also needs to be taken into account.
Like other subsonic attack aircraft at these BRs, the Su-39 does not necessarily fit the current meta particularly well. However, that does not mean it is incapable of performing effectively enough to justify an 11.7 BR. From my own anecdotal experience, I have had games where a Su-39 achieved more than 10 kills in GRB using only its Vikhrs, including a game at 12.0. This is also comparable to the situation with aircraft such as the 11.7 Harriers and A-10C: they require considerably more skill and favourable circumstances to use effectively than faster aircraft such as the Tornado GR.1 or F-16A, but they still have highly competitive CAS capabilities (which in my book is between 3-8 kills per sortie when flown by a capable pilot). It’s simply a plane that requires more skill to use in this terribly compressed BR matchmaking.
Even when facing top-tier SPAA, I would not consider the Su-39’s ability to obtain kills to be particularly unrealistic or impossible. Conversely, a slight downtier can become extremely problematic because of the lack of available counters to ground players. You’re already extremely unlikely to face the 11.0 2S6-M1, which is one of the only decent counters, while most other SPAA below 11.7 have relatively limited capabilities against the Su-39. In practice, this can leave the aircraft highly resistant to interception unless the pilot makes a significant mistake or is caught by systems such as the Roland or Osa whilst not paying attention. Only the Tor-M1 is a platform that I’ve seen getting kills on Su-39 relatively often. But even then flying low and/or in cover already fixes that.
Honestly that comparison is doing tiger_tank a disservice. At least his takes are amusing and in good faith.
Tiger tank may be the lord of bad air takes, baron of the touchscreen users (yes they have said they use a phone/tablet control scheme with the game streamed, i dread to think how that works) but they at least dont have the pig headedness to call disagreement “harassment” before being unpleasantly rude to whoever hes decided is a member of his hate club today.
SU-39 also has IRCM so its basically got a inpenetrable invisible shield against IR missiles to a lot of SPAA simply cant hit it outside of very specific situations. SACLOS SAM and gun SPAA are the only threats and they arent exactly known for being good other than the russian ones, which its not fighting lol.
You’re very unlikely to die to stingers or strela’s Indeed, unless you’re somehow flying head on to the battlefield for over 40 seconds. You can just lob / shoot-n-scoot with your missiles instead on most maps.
unless youre a total moron you dont just go head on into the fight. Decent cas players usually shuffle to the side and poke up just as they are ready to ruin some guys day
I mean its the only way ive ever gotten aircraft kills with stormer HVM, people just going straight to their deaht, most of those are frogfoots because they try and laser guide bombs at 2km alt over the middle of the gound battle, appears to be a common skill filter.
Afaik IRCM only works on planes ir missiles (even aim9m somehow) and stock chapparal missile without irccm. Stingers, mistrals and others will hit if you dont try to flare them and evade.
I must live in an alternate reality because I get 1 of 4 scenarios typically.
The only CAS planes I’ve seen while playing top tier lately are F-16 / F-18s.
And I’m playing at 12.0, since why not play my premiums? You get uptiered most of the time anyways.
None of these are a reason as to why it should go down, as they’re all inclusive for the other CAS planes at these BR’s too. These scenarios happen for all nations with all planes (except for the night battle situation, which is easy to avoid), and should therefore not be a reason for it to go down in BR.
If you’re using a daytime CAS plane, then consider disabling night battles. Otherwise just use another plane/heli, like the Mi-28, Ka-52 or Mi-35.
OK?
context?
You have mercury tpod with night vision or kopyo radar with tws gmti which binds point of interest close enough to locked target.
thats why i brought it up. its an invincibility shield to every IR missile…
stingers can be really hit or miss tbh. most of the time they can be one flared but theres occasions where the IRCCM works and theres nothing the plane could do.
I don’t ever recall saying such a thing.
You are putting words in my mouth like the others, or assuming such.
Not anywhere did I ever agree it should go down
Apart from the Mi-35, I’m pretty sure there are all higher br as far as I know.
GMTI can also lock dead tanks. Especially if what you’re firing at drives past it.
Given that your TV guides munitions won’t really work at night… there’s another issue.
I’d still wager there’s many many better options for nighttime battles.
Oh boy I can turn night battles off (I already knew this btw), have you ever considered the possibility I enjoy night battles?
Or the fact it’s an aspect of the game?
Crazy I know, but it’s is.
idk man, just don’t complain about an entirely preventable situation
As you mentioned your 12.0 lineup, all are below 12.0 in BR.
Good, we agree then.
Understanding that’s a real concept that it could see night battles, it’s indeed apart of the equation.
Even if you disagree it’s undeniable.
