Su-33 is incompatible with R-77, FCS was never upgraded. This will be very bs change. Right now Su-33 is fine as it is, if decompression would happen - placing it slightly above Su-27S would be a good decision. But since it ain’t gonna happen - i don’t even consider such thoughts worth spenidng time on
so it is skill based.
multipathing at 13.7 is actually better than what u think.
i usually just multipath till almost half of the map, track some targets flying a bit high, pitch up and launch 4 R-77s, go down and then start targetting targets flying very high with R-27ERs from below them, if u shoot them from below 1. they won’t notice and 2. it’s hard asf to dodge a hypersonic AAM coming straight up from below.

People just looking trough outdated info. Su-33 probably was planned for FCS upgrade, but since Russian Navy pretty much had one carrier and Su-33 was mostly used for anti-ship strikes or missile interceptions - giving it R-77s would be just a waste of already limited money. MiG-29K is on the same carrier after all, and it is compatible by default
idk, this guy is calling out i say toptier should have a skill based matchmaker when i didn’t say that nor referred to a skill based matchmaker for toptier.
all i said is that toptier is skill based since if u don’t know how to multipath, how to notch, when to launch missiles, how much chaff/flares u should pop to defeat a missile, etc, u’re pretty much just dead-weight in ur team.

Money. It’s all comes down to very limited budget of Russian navy and a single aircraft carrier that was considered more or less a dead weight already.
the only thing i could find about a Su-33 “carrying R-77” was Gemini telling me that a Su-33 was turned into a prototype from “2010” to carry R-77 and launch them.
but obviously there’s no images nor real information nor a manual or document/al showing the prototype and it’s capabilities.
A big country like russia need a huge budget for its military.

Big country of Russia had to crawl out of a giant debt and nearly dead economy after the fall of USSR. And navy was never a high priority for Russian MoD.
I think what can improve russian economy is just making war in other nearby country and make them buy from russia. lol

Development of USSR carrier fleet is a whole other topic. And at the time USSR already had very struggling economy. There vere plenty of very interesting proposals and prototypes for both navy and airfrorce, some even managed to be built in very limited numbers like Su-27M or MiG-29M or Yak-41, but overall most of the cool things were never realised. Su-33 is pretty much a living example of how harsh things were at the time.
