Im starting to see why gaijin thinks that missile system is underperforming.
This level of player capability is part of the equation.
the radar screen literally does everything for you its so incredibly easy to use

It’s going to need to spin much faster. By the time it refreshes again, the enemy is gone already. The BUK radar will take like 10 seconds to complete 1 rotation. If you use the radar screen, that missile will be locking on a ghost target. So it is better to just use the TELAR radar, as it is 100x better than the main vehicle radar.
I dont see why anyone would use the main vehicle when the launchers work on their own and better than spyder or giraffe.
its easily one of the best SAMs at top tier despite that quirk
There is no IFF, so a bunch of people literally just use the radar screen and then launch the missile on their allies. For me, I personally use the TELAR and don’t really use the screen at all. It’s definitely a great vehicle in the right condition, but it’s almost impossible to use it when everyone just multipaths. Another thing is its missiles aren’t really great in extreme close range; they will work around 2 km. But most CAS come as close as 500M, which are impossible to get rid of.
24 u have ammo boxes
IK. thats how the MH17 incident happenned. requires some competence that many lack in this game
It would have been a really great vehicle if it had IFF on it TELAR.
It will at some point in the future, but that’s up to gaijin.
BUK < gepard with stingers
You ≠ thinking person
Like how could one make such deranged claims?
still way better to use chaff
surely this doesnt make air rb horrendous to play…
Is there need to keep putting down the OP who just asked for help?
I used the pantsir in a battle for a change, and I loved it. No notching, no multipathing, guns to engage at close range. I’m gonna love the pantsir sm sv.
If someones coming at you from above multipathing won’t work either way. Also if they change this they should obviously do it based on missile / technology cause old PD radars having 20-50m MP height seems reasonable whereas modern ARHs having the same MP height as said ancient PD radars seems laughable.
Oh yeah as if ARB isn’t already horrendous at top tier (15v15 with everyone having 8-14 missiles), i say burn it to the ground so that we finally might get some changes that make it enjoyable again.
You really don’t need it, since you can execute an perfect notch without any issues in a heli almost instantly and just have to tap A or D to avoid IOG+DL
I’ve played many Top Tier SAMs, and just recently unlocked BUK, and I gotta admit it’s… weird.
Sometimes, I lock into an enemy and fire, but the missiles go straight into the ground, or start flying in circles until they crash, etc. Many ghost targets that appear and disappear, as well as lots of teleporting targets too.
This is entirely exclusive to BUK as far as I can tell.
Experiencing this first hand, I can see why it was determined that Russia needed a different SAM xD
It’s because of the vast desync between the main radar and really potent launcher radars, just turn the main one off and use the launcher ones and it does just fine. The buk is more of a skill check if you’re able to understand that the slow main radar limits your AESAs.
Oh, I didn’t know the launchers had radars of their own!
Then what’s the point of the radar truck? Just an spawner?
so essentially their own radar is incredible but a kinda small cone, not sure but around 45° i think, the main use of the main radar is to spot stuff if you don’t see anything up, if i know what direction to look in i usually turn it off, there’s some people that leave it off completely tho
