so, any news about the fix of HQ-17’s speed?

I’m gonna try an record an example using brimstone on Typhoon later this evening, it’ll be a test flight but still

@Smin1080p_WT Are there plans to extend the targeting pod range past 20km?
Currently, glide bombs are quite hard to aim at longer ranges due to the 20km limit.
Extending it to 40km, or even 50km, would make it much easier to hold a laze on target, too.

If we’re able to set target points directly on the map, surely this wouldn’t be such a large increase in capability.

to my knowledge no (Semi-Active) Laser seeker has a range over 20km, so it wouldn’t make much difference there

other weapons are just laser bombs that don’t have even a shred of the effectiveness of the Kh38 missiles

but log and gps will help the guide until the seeker find the laser point

Allow me to bother you, I would like to ask the question of the speed of the HQ-17 missile. Because the display board in Serbia says that “it is possible to attack targets moving at a speed of 1020 m/s, whether it is a close target or a distant target”, this should mean that the speed of the HQ-17 should be at least greater than 1020 m/s, right? How else can you catch up with a target that is moving away from you at 1020m/s?

which is my point, you don’t need to hold a lase for the entire flight duration

Man is using that blue background to promote his youtube channel

for iog only bomb/missiles, the laser must be sustained until hit the target. but for gps, the laser would be like refreshing target point, so I’m looking forward to AASM’s performance.

@Smin1080p_WT by any chance, will the BMD-4M come also as a tech tree vehicle or the decision of Premium-only vehicle is final?

yes, from the point that you activate the laser. Depending on the situation you might only need to lase for 5-15s, depending on the ordnance and its FoV

@Gunjob sorry for the ping but seeing as you’re around, do GNSS+SAL weapons revert to GNSS guidance once they lose sight of a laser or do they freefall?

BMD-4M will be a premium. Other BMD variants are possible for the tree.

Only 2 of them can be taken on board. And they will recline only by coordinate. It is unlikely that we will be given an adjustment through the rocket’s GOS. So it will be difficult to use them, they will fly for a long time (skirting the terrain so that they cannot be shot down by air defense)

and no need for sustained laser targeting

I’ve seen your videos, but it sounds like a pointless endeavor, it requires a lot more effort than using a Kh38, and it sounds like dropping bombs on a 2nd rank plane. Why do I have to have more challenges?

Question is, specifically the BMD-4M, if it will be introduced just like the PzH2000 for Germany as tech tree vehicle and the PzH2000HU for Italy as premium or not**, also with the JA 37DI F21 as premium and the JA 37DI as tech tree vehicle.
