Squish Saves Sim: Tornado F.3 Late To 13.0 Bracket

I figured I would make the topic because nobody else wants to.

The purpose of the thread is to gauge community support for moving the Tornado F.3 from 13.3 to 13.0 BR.

Personally I think this is a good move or at least one that would be consistent with current game logic. Currently 13.0 BR bracket is where mediocre AMRAAM slingers with non competitive flight models get some respite from having to face top tier all of the time.

13.0 BR AMRAAM slingers include Ja-37 variants, J8F, F-4F ICE, Kfir C.7 and a handful of Harriers. All of these planes strengths boils down to strong missiles that are offset by inferior energy and turn performance vs late SARH planes like MiG-29, F-16, F-18 etc.

The Tornado F.3 Late fits into this same archetype of plane. It has okay avionics and straight line performance but also abysmal turn performance. Moving it to 13.0 would at least give it some kind of niche advantage to work with about 50 percent of the time.

  • Tornado F.3 Late to 13.0
  • Tornado F.3 Late remain 13.3

Currently, I think 13.0 could work. But if some things about it get fixed, it could be 13.3

13.3 bracket does not exist in sim. 13.3 is equivalent to 14.0 at all times.

There really isn’t anything the devs could change about it to make it competitive with top tier.

13.0 for sure then

Would be nice:

But we have been trying:

Would also be good if they stopped artificially nerfing the F3s.

  • Unfinished FM
  • Nerfed BOL
  • No Phimat

Though a 13.3 bracket would be the better solution than just moving all 13.3s down to 13.0. F3 Late does destroy FA2

There really isn’t anything they can do to FM that would make it competitive against even bad planes in a dogfight.

It is still underperforming in most respects. Especially as its got too much drag and cant reach its IRL max speed. Let alone if you throw combat thrust ontop of that.

After which point, the balance should be achieved via defensive loadout.

352 large calibre flares and 432 large calibre chaff would compensate for any lack of FM. Let alone if you were able to trade 216 of those chaff for a TRD. (also if it ever gets modeled. aircraft like the Mig-29 and Su-27 wouldnt be able to use their radars if targetted by a Tornado F3 as the Foxhunter was powerful enough to jam their radars)

And if all that is still not good enough. Tornado F3 late can get Aim-120C5s and ASRAAMs.

Then go make a bug report and tag Gunjob.

Gaijin already corrected turn performance over a year ago. The plane was just abysmal in any kind of dogfight IRL.

The bug reports. They got closed because the game engine cant model it properly. Need to try and report it again sometime next year I reckon.

It was only partially corrected, and given way too much drag meaning its missing a sizable chunk of its top speed.

Might be so. But thats not an excuse for it to be weaker than IRL or why it cant be given IRL CM loadouts or even buff its missiles if it becomes necessary.

Let alone other buffs like Pilot hand controls for a semi-HMS like functionality or adding something for aircraft with a navigator.

There is lots the F3s and the Tonkas in general, could be given

Pure FM doesnt mean everything. You trade FM for a great radar and excellent defensive suite.

Mach 1.2 on the deck in game.

Only hard number cited in this report is Mach 1.185. Seems the Mach 1.2 claim is just conjecture and yet that is what it seems Gaijin set it to.

Its 1.18 with a weapons and 60% fuel iirc , Fireball has a little more fuel in that report for M1.18 Though less weapons

But with 60%/35 minutes of fuel, full weapons loadout (no tanks) and flying it a straight line for ages highest I hit in game was Mach 1.14-1.15. So its missing around Mach 0.3-0.4 mach speed at sea level. if im correct about that config ( was a while ago)

Spoiler

Trying out 2x 9Ls and 45 mins fuel. It just barely reaches M1.17 and it takes ages. Realistically, youd probably only be hitting M1.15 ish most matches as even the slightlest twtich would drop you down. So even going by Fireballs accepted and fixed report, its underperforming by around 0.1-0.3 mach

Found Gunjobs official comment on this:

So like I said. Gunna poke them about it sometime next year. Maybe something further can be fixed in the future. In the meantime. BOL and Phimat can come anytime

What they could easily do is to adjust the top brackets so also 12.3 and 13.3 and even 13.7 could be top BR at least in one rotation:

Thats so baller. Makes me wonder how good the UK would be if they started modelling EW and jamming

and de-chirped sidewinders!

People have been asking for a new bracket for the better part of a year.

In the meantime the number of players has basically reduced by half or greater.

If they were going to do it then I think it would have been done by now. Adding two more brackets also just further fractures an already dwindling playerbase.

…or allowing those BR’s to be playable actually draw players back that shied from the SIM mode because their favourite aircraft always were at a disadvantage…

Do you think that 2/3rds of British Eurofighter players quit the game because their favorite plane is always at too great of a disadvantage?

Can you show the graphs of said Tornado F.3 late (and other in a similar situation) and over longer time?

Similar story but far less popular to begin with.
