Solution to One-Death-Leavers / One-Death-Quitters Problem

Well extending it to cover everything seems like a no-brainer, people are also wanting to play their favorite vehicle or spade a TT vehicle.

I would’ve supported this a year or two back but with the amount of low quality teammates (aka low lvl top tier players), it’s pointless trying to stay in the fight. At this point top tier us is just filled with clickbaiters where there are only two players that have an actual lineup.

Best solution is to separate low level premium players and high level players. Wouldn’t solve everything but would entice experienced players in staying in the game longer.

Its a game yes and I take games seriously when they feel competetive like realistic battles. If u think its just a game go play arcade instead?

By this logic, you should be playing sim than.

one death leaving could be resolved incredibly easily.
If they used a system such as bungie did for halo 2 , 3 and reach, that if you prematurely leave a game then you get a warning, then a 30 minute ban, then an hour, then 4 hours then a day.
And so on until it hits over a week,

one death leaving has systemically ruined most BR brackets above 9.3 and your entire match is dependant on people actually using a lineup rather than them performing well with said lineup.

The game time is 25 minutes yet most matches are decided with in 2 to 3 minutes and only rarely does it turn around to be a 10 minute or 15 minute match.

This is not a problem caused solely by premium players either as ive seen matches with people with top of the line tanks just leave after one death.

Then remove the stupid hoops you have to jump through to even get a game of sim in a vehilce you like.
Or make realistic true to its word and make it realistic.

It may never be possible to remove ODL’ing from War Thunder unless severe punishment is placed upon users who do so. Gaijin is unlikely to ever do this as premiums are meant to be purchased and used alone.

Unless Gaijin begins selling premiums the way they do on War Thunder Mobile in “line ups” nothing will change.

No, premiums are supposed to be purchased to bolster a lineup.

No one said you have to buy the prem and run it on its own, tahts the players who decided that, and gaijin to try mitigate this even give up to 20 back ups with each vehicle now-

If premiums were there to bolster a lineup it would not be possible to buy/use them before there is a lineup…

Premium vehicles are here to speed up grind in grind based game and that is their main purpose and that is why they are sold to anyone and can be used as only vehicle in lineup. Gaijin knows that a lot of players are interested in modern era and that is why it is locked behind huge grind so they can sell premium vehicles. Also 20 backups will probably be used in first 20 battles for any newer player trying to skip low tiers so it is not that much of help.

No , that is not true at all. They are designed to be used in a lineup as is every single tank in the game
They were not originally intented to be bought thrown into a game then leave once you die, hence why when so many folks complained about it gaijin did something to try and mitigate it.

that logic doesnt apply to only premiums, theres literally people who one death leave in every vehicle, again premiums and tanks in general in this are designed to function in a lineup.

While its not much help, if you use the tank in a lineup its a massive boon to the longevity of the tank and how much it can provide into the grind.

One death leaving originated not from premiums at all, but from people dodging repair costs, the top tier premium spam is a really new problem compared to how long ODL has been an issue.

alright hwen i joined i bought the XM1 and Peten combo pack, guess what, i did not run the xm1 till i was at least at 8.3, why? because i was well aware of how the game worked, and how the team composition works.

IF people stopped just blaming gaijin for all the problems in the game, then maybe we could get somewhere, NO ONE forces you to use that premium, It artificially extends the grind to join a game do virtually nothing ODL, usually lose then repeat that.
No one at gaijin tells you to buy a premium, no one tells you to use it on its own and no one other than the player base actively thinks that way.

Like the Chi-Nu II, really bolsters the Japanese 4.3 lineup. Oh wait. There’s no 4.3 lineup.

So I mean like the Heavy Tank No. 6, it bolsters the 6.0 lineup… Wait. No 6.0 lineup either.

If the choice is taking the tank alone or deliberately uptier to a lineup where it has to regularly face enemies 1.3 BR higher, yeah, I’m taking the first option.

It really does not matter that vehicles are designed for lineups. The only thing that matter is what is allowed or not and as long as you can enter battle with just one vehicle it will be there and for many players it is clearly the best way to grind tech trees or modules on singular vehicle, well at least for me. Also if ODL was an issue from Gaijin perspective than it would be addressed already but clearly they do not care much about that part. You have too high expectations from player base in casual game build around economy and grind where there are no strict rules how you should play especially when lineups themself does not have any restriction how do you make them. It is in human nature to choose path of least resistance to get results and Gaijin is in charge of allowed paths. Some people want to have fun with singular vehicle, some wants to grind with one and Gaijin never said you cannot do that and probably never will.

how long on average does it take you to make 400k Rp like that?
it genuinely is massively detrimental to the overall grind one death leaving.

Then we should all be using bot accounts by this logic.

There really should be restrictions in place, such as taking 2 reserves and 1 top tier should not be allowed, same as it warns you for going in with no ammo.

This is a suggestion as well i believe or at least was some time ago.

Yes some want, Gaijin however used to back in the day lay out in tutorials etc the importance of a full and balanced lineup, they will never tell you to go into battle with one tank. that is entirely a player base decision.

which unless youre completely blind is now an absolutely gigantic problem within the game, theres no excuse for it now, the economy is better than its ever been, theres far more tanks for lineups, with far lower repair costs than before.
The only reason to ODL is to maintain this facade that its somehow better for the grind.

It is hard to determine, because with one tank lineup I can choose which battle I want to try do my best and which I will just yolo rush in order to skip the map. But I bought Centauro RGO 5 days ago and managed to fully reseach Leopard 2A7HU and 230k RP on Ariete PSO and I have just 47 battles on it. And I play about for hour a day during work days and at max for 2-3 hours during weekends. The main reason, why it is faster when you know what you are doing, is in maximizing premium vehicle bonuses. It is also more fun to just play one vehicle as I do not have to deal with CAS in late game.

And that is where you are wrong because this is not allowed path by Gaijin.

That was in the past, Gaijin vision changed over years. Gaijin said Korean war was end of the line yet here we are with modern vehicles. Gaijin said they will not sell premium jets yet there are plenty of them. Gaijin said no top tier premiums but here we are with 11.7 tanks which are technically top tier vehicles. But adjusting game modes to fit more for to modern era vehicles? No, that would be too much of work. You can clearly see they only care about profits(like any big gaming studio) and does not care much about quality of gameplay, so why should players put any effort into matches. After all enshittification is trendy right now.

The game is ultimately trash and if I want to leave then I will!

Can’t we just a pin a single thread for ODL?

I can only speak for myself but I assume some of you folks agree with me that major reason of ODL is the fact that nearly very match end up with one team spawncamping the other within less than 5 mins. And once you get there, the game is already over.

  1. SPAA can’t do much against CAS because everyone flying at a 10 meter above the ground and therefore they can’t do anything against planes dropping bomb right next to them.
  2. The enemy tanks can surround your spawn at a 180° angle, and since you only can face your gun towards one direction you are f**ked.

Im summary you will most likely die as soon as your spawnprotection runs out and you will only lose silver lions due to repair costs if you have no premuim.
In my opinion spawnprotection needs to be enhanced and spawncampers should face penalties for bad sportsmanlike conduct or maybe add an additonal win condition that end the game before the spawncamping like holding all capture points for a certain time or something like that.

The main reason for ODL is PVP.

Your opposition are human players who do what they want to do not what you want or expect them to do.You play your way and they play theirs. That in itself causes frustration and its why many single player games don’t work when a PVP version is brought in.
Some might say Red Dead online or Fallout 76 are fine examples of a legendary game not working as a PVP.
I guess if I am honest my main gripe with WT is that it went so faraway from the game I personally loved four years ago.
I can’t stop the entire Japanese nation from playing pink tanks with anime pillows or Gaijin throwing in Post war tanks into WW2 scenarios.I just can’t. All I can do is walk away or just play less and stop paying as a customer.
The Devs game choices annoy me and the other players decisions can annoy me.That is the way it is.
Other players are entitled to have fun their own way and make the best of a bad situation their own way.

ODL is a game choice and you have to suck that up unfortunately.

If i get bombed from outerspace or other BS is happening i’m just gonna ODL. Simple as.

Or just give me GRBPVE on maps as big as heli one, and i’ll ditch normal pvp forever

I painted my PE8 in the Russian flag with a big silly Stalin sticker on it just to annoy the opposition further when five of them die at once :) If you cant beat them join them.
I guess many of us,myself included took this game far too seriously when its best to treat it as the joke its become. Pop on for ten minutes, kill a few dudes and go. All it’s worth now.
If the game is so bad at high tier that you can’t even do that then it really is time to say goodbye.
