Yo how about take it into air sim 🤔 you can bomb airfield, plenty of scores 🤑🤑🤑
I will repeat myself, but if authors of those thoughts really play their GRB matches with eyes glued to the sky looking for bombs instead of, you know, looking for tanks, it would explain their long term performance in game.
You have to do both. Situational Awareness must cover a broad spectrum.
Absolutely, but your primary focus in a tank fighting another tank cannot be on the air looking for bomber dropping bombs from 5 km.
Tank currently shooting at you is much more immidiate threat to you than B-52 6km out on approach.
I meant it as jab at sinister, since he has spicy takes for someone whos net negative to his team.
I will not say yes, nor am I going to say no cause either one will give people the dumbest assumptions I’d rather not read.
But what I will say is that when your turn is very limited, you have a small arc of where bombs can actually drop. Unless, for some reason, you are trying to throw your bomb off the map. Not sure why you’d do that, though. It isn’t that hard to figure out the circumference of where it is landing, because they are roughly 250kg bombs. The Radius of what it can do is often negligible unless you are in a very small circle where it is effective.
If the B-52 is using anything larger, that is a Tricky pickle, cause you can still predict where most will land.
The question is how many below are bum-rushing straight into that area after you dropped. In which I continue to blame the Tank drivers. 'Cause you dropped the bombs before they drove into the blast radius. Cause who’s fault is it? The Buff is going to not take the blame since you were not there when they were dropped.
But the tanker is going to blame you anyway, despite Buff dropped after the fact.
Green is also a tank; crappy drawing, but someone will get the idea.
I’ve just shown how large that arc actually is with a course deviation of only one degree - which is nothing.
The bomber has a full view of the battlefield, sees both friends and (with limitations) enemies. He knows it will take half a minute between his pickle and the ground he aimed at turning into hell turned loose. He is able to see where his pals on the ground - the ones he is supposed to support - are heading, so he can decide whether to drop and where, in a way he doesn’t endanger the guys on the ground who, I have to add, are not just “bum-rushing” but doing their job.
The tanker sees what: A dot on the horizon, from which he should then somehow magically decipher whether half a minute from now he’ll be covered by a carpet of explosive rocks.
…and somehow it’s still the fault of the tanker.
I seriously don’t get the concept behind it being the tank’s job to somehow evade bombs dropped whenever (show me exactly how you’re going to predict when and where the bombs were dropped) from an 8-engined strategic bomber ≈6+km away that can devastate a city or entire town on maps the size of or smaller than a university campus
Well maybe if you did youd be just as good as sinister here /s
I truly would never need glasses anymore
One does wonder if such talent of prediction isnt wasted on playing videogames. Imagine the results he could achieve on wallstreet.
Imagine casinos…
This made me chuckle
This thread has turned into that same energy as people who throw missiles into dogfights and complain the missile ended up hitting a friendly.
Well this has turned into a shitfest of people assuming i’m ( and any B52 player) are going straight for the teamkills.
No you wet wipes, the ‘carpet’ run isn’t even a carpet run in the proper sense,it’s like 7-10 bombs on the enemy spawn, where i saw that there were like 3-4 tanks.
Nobody’s going and carpeting the whole map, some people like to assume and blame .
Except in the time for those bombs to drop the ally tanks pushed all the way to the spawn. The enemy tanks were still there holding, but it’s just that the friendlies pushed so far in that they got caught in the crossfire
Let me be perfectly clear :
Most of you are just assuming there is a blame,it isn’t why i made this thread, i only made it because i wanted some guidance and tips on how to avoid this. And once again, i have to say, not taking it is not a suggestion.
First run,i got it pretty early so there weren’t many AA’s at this point. I wouldn’t have taken a b52 if it was any later.

This is my second run after turning in a mile . There are starting to be AA’s that are looking at me but can’t focus me properly because they are also taking fire .

Here i’m starting the bomb run , there are already a few AA’s looking at me ,i can’t turn fast enough to get those on the lower right part. The friendlies are pushing into spawn.

By this point, i realise that my 1st run of bombs hasn’t even hit yet ,and that allies might be starting to push into that area, but i just assume the bombs will hit before they come in to the area.

Mind you i have to do all this while also being targeted by AA and have to turn on flares and try to evade.
I’m sure there will be somebody any way that will find a way to criticize what i did in that moment.
I don’t know if it’s my choice of bombs that is wrong here or what.
The last picture you showed says FREAKING 45 SECONDS OF FLIGHTIME for bombs that even have not hit the ground yet, released in the situation where friendly team has started pushing the enemy spawn.
Also these seem to be the drag chute bombs which are meant for nap of the earth flight bombing, not high alt.
You are trying to bomb a position almost a one whole minute into the future which in terms of GRB might as well be next century.
Looks like we found the issue.
You are using the m117 air bombs. They will take a long time to reach the ground and greatly increase the chance of teammates being in the area when they do finally hit.
You are basically trying to predict where your team will be like 2 minutes from when you drop them. The long the time till impact is, the greater the chance of guessing wrong.
Aren’t they all air bombs I just thought all of them were a type of air bombs but the last big payload ones that i haven’t unlocked yet.
It also can carry regular bombs. I would try using those.
The AIR ones have a parachute which makes them drop very slowly. Use the CONE ones.
