Should the BR Spread be reduced to 0.7 Maximum

Compression impacts BRs outside of the direct BR range, that’s why it’s an issue.
2.7’s compression is directly causing M4 Jumbo to be 5.7 instead of 5.3
If 2.7 was not compressed, then M4 Jumbo could be 0.3 BRs more away from M26 Pershing and Tiger 2.

There is very few compression left in War Thunder, easily less than 10%. However, that <10% is causing more impact.

This is why compressing the match maker’s BRs in a way to compress options reverses the decompression that has occurred, as most BRs would have to compress for fairness as well.

0.7 match maker BR compression requires more work than finishing the final bits of decompression.

No need to restrict the MM to 3 BR levels. Just make the BR spread (I wrote about this before) to 0.8 with 0.2 steps and it will already limit the unfair matches.

The first place where the 1.0 BR spread needs to be reduced is in Naval. Higher tier matches are usually 4-5 players per team, yet the BR spread remains the same. I have played way too many matches where enemy players were top BR heavy while our team was bottom BR heavy. Just a slight discrepancy in BR with 4-5 players per team guarantees one team having some fun while the other team “not so much.” Way too many matches are a total waste of time due to the screwed up match maker.

Remind me when I said br compression? Cuz I said keep brs the SAME but reduce the matchmaker br RANGE, not brs themselves.

You are only looking at half the equation.
They also no longer terrorize tanks a full BR down from them

yes because at high tier up tier and down tier start making issue because the different and more advance technology !

or
1.0 to 10.0 BR max up tier is 0.7
and from 10.0 BR to 14.0 BR is 0.3

Heavy tanks already don’t terrorize almost all tanks a full BR below them.
Almost all tanks 1 BR below heavy tanks are easily capable of destroying them.

False.

By your logic then the full uptier isn’t needed to handle the heavies - you just admitted the tanks 1 BR below them can already handle them.

I can just imagine what the tanks at same BR, or even 1 peg or… dare I say 2 pegs, can do to the heavies.

Heavies can be handled with less and less team work the higher BR the other vehicles.
American and German 6.7s for example can deal with every 7.7 heavy in the game, just requires slightly more patience and team work than using 7.7s against 7.7 heavies.

Yeah, a m26 can totally deal with an is-4m, of course. It isn’t a bunker made of Stalinium against a sluggish patriotic peashooter at all… Also, people say killing the tiger 2H is easy but the machine gun weakspots are 100% luck because of volumetric black holes swallowing your m82 shot so call it a skill issue but not everybody is a skillfull player with premium bias. And 7.7 heavies deserve to be at least a whole br higher than 6.7s

That 122 ain’t waiting for u and it ain’t messin around

I 1v1’d an IS-4 with T26E5 [same round I use on M26] the last time I faced IS-4 while playing 6.7.
Barrel, tracks, side armor into ammo.

The rounds are volumetric, not the armor.

I’m iffy on this. Yes, because in a full uptier, it is a completely unfair advantage to someone with say thermals and spike missiles. No, as this creates longer waiting times for matches, if you play top-tier, you would have to wait for enough +0.7/-0.7 BR players to fill a lobby.

people who argue against any change in matchmaking and mechanic surrounding it should be marked as detractor. I get into matches on any vehicle on any BR in any server (even SA) faster than I can get a lobby in CS2, Dota and TF2. And CS2 is the more popular game by any metrics.

Well, yeah. That’s why I say I’m iffy on the subject. As there are good reasons for and against it.

This is the answer to many issues; it’s easier and much more effective than evaluating each vehicle, increasing max BR and spreading them accordingly, not to mention the impact on queue times would be even less of a problem, if a problem at all.

That simply is not going to work due to the way Gaijin does it, so it’s useless to think about increasing max BR as a solution to all problems at least as short or mid-term solution. They increase max BR by like 0.3 at random, and that only decompresses a tiny portion of top tier matches. Hell even if they increased max BR by 1 (which is a lot and something I don’t see them doing soon), it would only impact a few select BRs at best, so it’s not enough. By making the 0.7 change, you are instantly impacting every single BR with this one change, and improving balance by a fair bit.
The 0.7 change is probably gonna do more to balance than increasing max BR by 3, which would probably not even be enough at this point and would take them several years to get to get there, and it’s highely likely they would’ve released even more powerful vehicles or loadouts by then.

But this system wouldn’t apply to just higher BRs.

Many 5.7 vehicles would struggle against 6.7 heavies. Same with 6.0 vehicles vs 7.0. You’d have to be lucky to have something in your garage at 5.7 that will pen the jagdtiger or the Tiger 2. Sure there are ‘weak’ spots but assuming both players are competent it would be very difficult to kill the uptiered tank with heavy armor.

That’s the problem. Most BRs have no compression, and this idea compresses the matchmaker which harms match variety at best and at worst causes BR compression.

Most 5.7s don’t struggle against 6.7s, it’s a select few, and those select few struggle because BR 2.7 is compressed which causes some 5.7s to be a higher BR than they should be.

haha
