Some players has changed the sound effects of missiles to a song whcih is different to the original wind sound. This changing helps them notice missile incoming without seeing around. I think this is unfair for other players, should this be considered as cheating?
no. I don’t use sound packs nor do i wish to stop anyone using them
yes it gives an unfair advantange and sound mods might need to have their policies reworked again, you shouldn’t be able to change the sound a missile makes when it is approaching you.
if you want to have anime girl sonic boom then that would be fine, not much benefit there.
Yes. Any mod giving you an advantage should be considered cheating.
That should be banned if it is giving an advantage over those who don’t use them, yes.
bye bye ULQ users lmao
all players have access to it, its not a mod.
But it is a publicly available thing available to all users.
but its a modification anyway and modifications cant give you benefit even if others can download them. different with settings.
all players have access to sound packs (unless you’re on console, which is already the biggest nerf to a players ability out of them all. Nor is it a challenge to install one on PC, no harder than a custom skin and easier than importing keybindings
other than console
its still a modification rather than a game setting and therefore you arent allowed to get an advantange out of them.
if there was anime missile approaching sound setting in the game then it would be fair. but it is not like that.
Do you wish for quads to not be allowed to talk in discord calls too for coordination as that is infinitely more lethal to an opposing team than any sound pack could ever, and that takes an evil scary external piece of software instead of an openly accessible and welcomed kitty RWS
this was the first thing I saw on WT Live // Best sound mods for the past week I’m not even joking
Personally, I don’t believe this Is cheating. Although it should be (and probably is) banned in tournaments. The thing is, there are many allowable things people can do to sweat at the game. Things like adjusting the levels of sound in settings, the graphics settings, so on.
But sound mods really aren’t that useful. At least I have never tried any for performance enhancement; the sound levels of sounds in the game are similar with sounds mods… It’s a thing where I think the vast possibility of customizability and player choice is more important than the minimal exploitability that could exist.
Especially the sounds of missiles, which are useless in most cases for defense. The detection of a missile, by its sound, rarely changes the outcome of your survival. The change in the sound of an approaching missile then only exploits a fraction of that already rare possibility.
If I am wrong about the level of exploitability of sound mods please inform me.
not a modification to the game. communication over voice is allowed. not only that but it is reasonable.
the thing isnt loudness, its the frequency. wind sound can easily be lost but something else not so easily, you can easily hear it coming from far even with a dogfight going on.
gives a bigger advantage than any sound pack could tho. more valuable than hacking the game.
not exactly hard with default sounds. and I just cant be mad at the slight advantage when most sound mod users are using mods so their crew is the characters from GuP or this kinda thing, the free bird missile is the 7th most downloaded ever and its really damn funny.
too bad because it is reasonable to allow people to communicate over voice.
advantange is advantange no matter how much you try to water it.
too bad the few ruin it for everyone but that is how it goes. its not nice. however it is neccessary to have these policies. sound mods of missiles incoming aren’t a big thing to lose. you can have your sound mods on sonic booms.
ok just ban them from competitive matches like thunder league instead of punishing all in games that don’t matter. Like they already are
arcade realistic and sim shouldn’t have them. custom and similar ones are whatever.
Not really agreeing with anyone here. But I do believe I would be able to somehow distinctly tell the SLIGHT difference between the sound of soft flowing wind, and the sound of the Nokia Arabic Ringtone approaching my personal space lol
