I have encountered planes with a weight higher than 1.0 in 7 to 8 out of 10 games. If I encounter similar situations again from now on, I will exit the game directly and I suggest everyone do the same
You have no evidence for your claim that the matchmaker is bugged.
A claim without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.
Thus we can safely say you have not encountered any match where an aircraft was 1.3 BR or higher above your squad’s aircraft.
He said he encountered aircraft that are higher than 1.0 over his BR, and with a matchmaker spread of 1.3 this is definitely plausible.
I spelled the wrong word,higher than 0.7
Thank you for the correction. I shall amend my own statement.
As for uptiers to 1.0, it is not detrimental to those of us 1.0 BR lower than the 4 on our team, and the 4 on the enemy team.
It means there’s less pressure on us to do well, and if we do well we get more rewards.
Pretty sure that only applies to arcade.
Reducing br spread to 0.7 won’t happen and will only make wait times longer. The difference in most situations of 0.3 is minimal and limited to 3 or 4 players on each team. Br constantly Chang so what you call a br spread of 0.7 today could be 0.0 after the next update. Stop worrying about br and just play, your hurting your team and research more then the br range when you quit.
You actually don’t.
Score is capped at 1.0
Spoiler
And since your main source of RP rewards come from score rather than individual actions (due to time alive x play time coefficient x activity% and activity% comes as a function of time alive AND score…) , the small BR bonus you get is insignificant:
RP from actions (without percent bonuses:)

BR correction for RP gain:
Spoiler
Score and time alive influence your activity%, and given your time alive is the biggest source of rewards… killing harder targets only marginally gives more rewards for doing well.

F104 is the same issue for most it faces, yes the br here isn’t the issue but the hard to balance F104 is the problem
It is literally not just an F-104 issue, but applies to most aircraft such as MiG-19s, MiG-21F-13/J-7II, EEL, etc.
The only aircraft for which the 0.3BR difference can be justified are the Hunter F.6(NL)/FGA.9 and the Shenyang F-5.
F104 is an issue for almost everyone at that br, not unique to Hunter. What’s a good match up is often down to the perspective of the individual player, this is why performance stat’s are used to set br and they update regularly. It’s not perfect but it’s what we got. Players rage quitting in protest is a far bigger issue then the br spread.
Did you read that?
The MiG-19 is better in almost every way against the Hunter F.1, and if you are flying a Hunter and face against MiG-19, you will almost 99% likely be sent back to the hangar, unless that MiG players are dumb.
Same goes with MiG-21F-13/J-7II, EEL. The bad energy retention of the MiG-21 means nothing against Hunters because they can pull so hard at the least and, ways faster on the deck.
or Even Super Sabre is very hard to deal with in Hunter F.1.
This is not a discussion of performance stat’s.
Most of the time they leave the game for better balance than the ridiculous matchmaker/BR compression.
It is not leavers fault, but of Gaijin, which compresses BR at almost every BR changes.
Br is fluid, as I said what .7 br difference today could be .3 or 0 difference next month for the exact same vehicle. Unless your fighting identical vehicles there is always going to be ups and downs. Quitting only ensures the real problem is the quitters
Same goes with 1.0, just like MiG-19s in 2019 to current days.
In the 2017 to early 2018 Jet games, with a few exceptions, “identical vehicles” didn’t face each other as adversaries.
However, It was most balanced entire the game because each of them all functioned as counterparts, such as Sabres vs MiGs, or Hunter F.1 vs MiG-17.
Also, 9.7 BR hard cap that existed in matchmakers shortly after the F-100/MiG-19, T-2, and F-4C were implemented could deal with a 0.3 BR/0.7 BR, or even 1.0 BR difference, even if both sides had equal skills, until F-104/EEL comes in the game.
At that time, there was nothing much to see on the quitters, except for internet issues.
You are just justified current BR compression for somehow.
I wouldn’t mind, they’re already very short. Blink and you’ll miss it short
From someone who was around when wait times could be greater then 10minutes I’m happy for the current wait times.
Also, if you have the same vehicle in multiple nations, 10mins crew lock doesn’t work :p
at a BR of 4.7 (3 of them), whilst my own team had not a single 4.7 plane…actually this happens quite often.
-
Whilst at jet BRs raw power, avionics and weapon systems are the most decisive factors (=you carry the weapon) at prop BRs your ability to get in gun range (=you are the weapon) decides most fights.
-
Certain prop aircraft are way too fast in full uptiers - just ask a Sakeen pilot how he can get in gun range of any 4.3 fighter. But certain nations excel in having way too fast aircraft for their BRs - most prominent the US.
-
This is extremely annoying on Pacific maps (with 6 vs 6 or 8 vs 8 matches) if you fly a JP plane as the already existing speed gap between JP and US/UK gets way too large.
-
But even in full lobbies on standard maps the MM creates such imbalances as some nations don’t have 4.7 aircraft - or just bombers but not the decisive fighter aircraft.
Example?
Enemy team:
3 x BR 4.7 (La-7, 2 x F8F-1)
1 x BR 4.3 (Pe-8)
4 x BR 4.0 (2 x Yak-9T, P-61, P-63 A-10)
7 x BR 3.7 (P-51C, US Ki-61b, 2 x La-5 FN, 2 x cannon P-51, PBJ)
1 x BR 3.3 (I-16, squadded with Ki-61) - so outside BR range 3.7 - 4.7
Own team:
0 x BR 4.7
3 x BR 4.3 (Ta 154, 109 G-2, J-21)
3 x BR 4.0 (190 A-4, P-51 D-20, Spit VB)
10 x BR 3.7 (H8K, B7A2, 2 x Ki-61b, 3 x P-51 C, 2 xP-47, Firebrand)

I mean i don’t have a problem with getting full uptiers - but in this case the power advantage of the 4.7 planes became decisive late game.
Long story (hidden as just for information purposes):
-
We played 8 vs 6 (around 6 minutes) and just one F8F-1 scored a single 3 rd party kill before, the La-7 had 25 points - whilst i created a undisturbed 1 vs 1 vs the other F8F far away.
-
After ~ 7.30 my team played 4 vs 6 with a Spit killing an already crashing Yak (and got swarmed by the La-7, a La-5 FN and a F8F). We had also a crash landing (and dying) H8K, a fresh repaired 190 taking off - and i was about to kill the other F8F who was trying to stall fight me at 7 km in my B7A2. Enemy Pe-8 rtb.
-
At around 8 minutes we played 2 vs 4; the Spit was dead, i killed the F8F and the 190 with 50 points decided to run low into the 2 other 4.7 fighters and the La-5 FN. He managed to kill the La-5 FN which messed up his attempt to dodge a head-on but then got outplayed by the other 2. 1 vs 3, F8F rtb no ammo, Pe taking off, La-7 below me.
-
We lost due to tickets because it took me more than 2 minutes (starting ~ 10:30) to kill the excellent flown La-7 with 3 kills, so that the last 4.7 plane, an F8F (which ran out of ammo before) also with 3 kills, returned back with Warp 3 (670 vs 480 TAS) and i had to flee as i was at ground level and very slow.
-
Ticket defeat was inevitable as i was low on ammo, our tickets were way too low whilst enemy ai planes were still alive and the Pe-8 was about to kill some bases. Game lost by tickets.
Short story:
Two BR 4.7 planes managed to kill 6 of my team playing 6 vs 8 as they were able to survive until very late game thanks to their superior plane performance and excellent pilot skills of one specific pilot.
In other words: Reducing the BR spread to 0.7 sounds like a good idea.
