There is this button for cycling the selected radar target (when cyclic switching option is turned on):
It would be nice if you changed it into two separate bindings:
“Select next Radar/IRST target to lock”
“Select previous Radar/IRST target to lock”
Anyone who doesn’t want too many buttons can just use the first binding and cycle to the next target just like they do now (and you could make it so that the first binding uses the same key that is currently bound to the current single binding, in order to not mess up people’s controls)
But the “Select previous target” would allow going back to the previous target in case you accidentally skip your intended target (which happens quite often), and make cyclic target selection much more practical to use.
This is a big part as to why I use manual target selection instead of cyclic, drives me nuts if you go past.
And its not the only place where they have cyclic selection instead of forward and backward options like:
Weapon selection
CCRP Target selection
Ripple quantities
Like you said, they could really do with adding seperate keybinds for forwrad and backwards on everything with a cyclic selection. If you prefer cyclic then it doesnt matter as forward could just loop round like it does currently.
Yep, there are loads of places where I wish I had a keybind but for some reason there just isnt one (And I really should write suggestions for a few of them at some point)
While they’re at it, they really need to give us a keybind to cycle between cyclic and manual targeting. Normally I prefer manual targetting since there are just too many radar returns for cyclic to be practical when your radar resolves the enemy planes, the friendly planes, the enemy missiles, and also the dumb AI A-4’s that are flying around for some reason.
However every now and then you get that situation where you’re 80% certain that some sneaky opponent snuck around a mountain range by himself and you need to hunt him down. The radar will probably reveal that he’s ~17km in front of you and just outside the normal nametag range. So you will have a mad dash to try to shoot first. In that situation using cyclic to sweep that isolated side of the map would be preferable since it will auto-target the first resturn.
