Hi. Casual noob here. Been playing for about 4 months in arcade and slowly making my way through the aircraft available. I’m loving the game and the majority of battles and am able to shrug my shoulders at most of the dicks encountered and move on to the next battle. You know the ones I mean, the folks who love to ram when their aircraft is damaged or when they have a numerical advantage and NEED the win, or miked up and you shot down their buddy and want revenge. C’est la vie. The price of playing with kids.
But seal clubbing really sticks in my craw. Scratch that… the WRONG type of seal clubber. I’ve had epic dogfights with guys and gals who REALLY know what they’re doing and kick my ass in every way, and to those I have nothing but respect and appreciate the lesson.
But there’s a different type of seal clubber, the one who camps the spawn at 5000m in his Ki 61 in a 2.3BR match, or one in a 2.0 match that flew a Soviet bomber at 7000m+ and ended up with 11 base damage without barely having to cross friendly lines. You know who you are!
And to look at some of the posts in the forums you’d think they were the second coming of Eddie Rickenbacker rather than appreciating the advantage that having maxed out crew skills gives no matter WHAT plane you choose.
I don’t want you to think that this is sour grapes… I can take a beating as well as the next noob… and I appreciate the need to farm RP, but you don’t have to be an asshole while you’re doing it. To those grinding new aircraft or those starting a new tree… though the crew skills won’t apply to you… keep coming and thanks for the tutorial.
Hope I remember this when I get to 100+!
Relastic will change your life on how you view on them. Play relastic then come back to arcade. you will be better at the game.
Hopefully getting there, but I don’t want to run before I can walk. Crashing on take off is NOT a good look!
It fine… and Relastic is techinally easier then arcade… in my opinion when i first tired air. Massive rewards. Just keep playing relastic.
Play realistic, its easy when you get the hang of it.
What exactly do you mean with 11 base damage? And how is that a seal clubber?
Here’s a crazy, insane, out of this world idea. How about you just climb at the start of the game 😮? I know! Crazy, right??
I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve spotted serial spawn campers, called them out to my team, only to watch all those mouth breathing morons dive straight after that one bomber flying low to hit ground targets leaving me to deal with them alone. Yeah. Not ideal.
There’s no better deterrent to spawn camping than early climbing. If at least 6 do it, the chances of them getting into position and ruining the game are significantly lower. It doesn’t matter if you’re not in a meta fighter like the Ki-44-II or Bf 109F-4. Numbers will win the day eventually.
So next time, instead of crying here, maybe climb at the start, watch the leaderboard for players with suspiciously high KDRs and listen when you’re told there’s a spawn camper around. Or don’t and enjoy being food for veterans while they laugh at your stupidity and rake in the SL.
Why does the feel so AI. Atleast it helping I guess…
What controls are you playing with?
With Mouse Aim, crashing on take off should not be an issue. I am asking because you might be making things much more difficult for yourself than should be.
If you are playing with controller, make sure you enable “AutoTrim” and maybe even “instructor” if you are trying out realistic. Instructor turned off you can kinda get away with, no AutoTrim will put you at a massive disadvantage compared to peers in RB as you have to fight your own plane rather than just focus on opponents. Flying without autotrim is to be reserved for SB modes where everyone has it off and it’s a level playing field (and if you feel like giving it a try - I recommend WingalingDragon on youtube and Requiem Air Combat Tutorial Library for videos and playlist for flight principles (Requiem) and how they apply to WT (Wingaling)).
Realistic has more male appendages than arcade thanks to friendly fire.
Your aiming may bebetter after playing RAB but you can develop and practice it in Arcade just as easily.
Eh… I used to be afraid of realistic, but now realistic doesn’t seem that different from Arcade. In Air at least.
If I were to use the walking analogy. Realistic is more of a jog than a run. Sim is a full sprint.
I’d tell old me to play realistic and here I am giving that advice to you. Also I notice grinding is quicker in realistic. Scales better than Arcade. cmiiw.
Joining in 2014, I played arcade for so long, almost a year. I only managed to reach 3.7 air and 4.0 ground. I thought at this rate I’d never play the Tiger I, let alone touch the Me 262. It looked so bleak being F2P, I took a break.
Came back in 2016 (Started from scratch on steam because I lost the email and forgot the gaijin account completely), and I started to play realistic. Got to 5.7 ground and air in a month and a half. Wished I’d done it sooner.
Yes, you’re right. Sorry.
I feel so many new players, and even mid-range players, don’t know why you don’t climb to engage, stall out and die, for the sake of not dragging them down to others who are spawning and calling out that there is a spawn camper.
It’s actually concerning that many don’t let them know, or even just say to dive from the spawncampers.
Thanks folks for your (mostly) helpful comments. I’ll give RB a shot… after all, what could possibly go wrong? ;-)
You can get shot cown by your own side before taking off.
Ah. Probably take off last then! :-)
Spawn in last - pretty sure they can kill you when you are still stationary too… but might be wrong… doesn’t happen often to be sure, but you’ll see it about once a day if you play a lot!
Doesn’t Gaijin have rules for that sort of thing?
Sure - the perpetrators might get banned - doesn’t stop it happening tho’ - you can read a pretty long thread about team killing here on hte forum
I asked you 2 questions. I still wait for the answers. What were you trying to say there?
